17 seconds? That is terrible performance. A 3 cylinder 800cc Daewoo Matiz which is a revolting car even gets to 62mph/100kmh a few seconds faster! There must be something wrong with the engine.

@littlemidgetman "how much break"? Do you mean BHP or brakes? You are living in fantasy world if you think anyone would spend thousands trying to tune a 1litre 80BHP engine. That's what it would take. Sticking a silly K&N or dustbin exhaust or flashy lights will make NO difference. You would be better saving your money and getting a car with a bigger engine. All polos have similar performance, his has probably not been looked after and could be faulty! It's far too slow and sounds odd.
