I'm sorry, Cary darling, but you were wrong. There was not and there will never be another great era as the Golden Era. Maybe if you just were here...
You are right. Cary was the greatest screen actor of all time. The look in his eyes as he watches Katherine Hepburn flirt with James Stewart should have been enough to win him the best actor Oscar, not James Stewart. But Cary's acting was always so subtle and understated you forgot he was acting. Other actors always drew your attention to the fact they were great actors:) However, in every field of acting and good breeding Cary Grant stands alone.
Cary Grant was always impeccable in his dress and manner...He was the personification of what it means to be a true gentleman...He was the classiest of the classy, but he was never arrogant...He was the most articulate of the articulate, the best dressed man in the world and a wonderful father to his beautiful daughter Jennifer...Cary Grant was a brilliant actor and, more importantly, a brilliant human being..No, he wasn't perfect, but he seemed to have come close to perfection in his lifetime.
To give you an idea of the stand up character of this good gentleman; Cary Grant donated his entire salary, $100,000, to the U.S. War Relief Fund from the (filmed in 1941) 1944 Warner Brothers film ARSENIC AND OLD LACE. In my mind, Cary was not only a gracious guy with suave mannerisms; he was class personified. One of the greats, and I’m glad he received this Oscar. Cheers and peace, to all who hear my words. Bear.
What the crap is with all of this Sinatra hating? Sheesh! Cary Grant is AWESOME and Frank Sinatra is AWESOME! I don't think Sinatra was making this moment about himself at all; he's making good natured jokes, this was his way of paying tribute to Cary. They both look to be having a good time joking together so lay off the negativity and just enjoy two of the best performers ever! :)
Such a phenomenal actor. There never has, or ever will be a better actor than Cary Grant. His distinctive acting method and humor is something that can never be emulated and will live on for generations to come.
@ADirtDiggler Your have a point and I agree. Actually, Cary Grant is my favorite actor of all time. BUT WHEN IN COMES TO CHARITY AND DOIN GOOD WORK FOR HUMANITY AND MAKING A DIFFERENCE like to name a few, Darfur, Africa missions, fund raising for Haiti, and other calamities such as Katrina, tsunamis and etc.. Cary Grant is not even close to even compare to what George Clooney has done. Actually, It does not even make sense to even compare.
I've not seen a single actor who is able to look so immaculate and sharp at the age of 66. A true legend in EVERY way, the true personification of a leading man. If only my generation (teenagers) appreciated true talent. I guess everything nowadays is about abs and vampires.
I watched Cary Grant play US Navy Admiral Matt Sherman, Former Captain of the USS Sea Tiger in 1959's " Operation Petticoat " with Tony Curtis, who just Passed away not too long ago. They had a a Perfect Thoughful and Considerate Father and Son Type Chemistry onscreen. Seeing Admiral Matt Sherman ,Commander of the US Pacific Fleet sit at his old desk on the Sea Tiger and have the Story Fade into the Past when he was a Young Man when he recently took Command of the Sub brings Tears to your Eyes
I remember I saw this video last year and when Frank was introducing Cary, he mentioned the directors Cary worked with and pronounced Cukor's name as
Cock-or instead of the real pronunciation of Cue-kor. I think Frank was trying to embrass Cary by mispronouncing Cukor's name because of rumors of Cary's sexuality and Cukor's now known homosexuality. Poor Cary, he looked like he had dread when he came to the stage after Frank's embarassing introduction.
Sinatra, with his oaf-like antics, is ruining the moment. Them Cary Grant speaks and all the grace and charisma of a great actor and an ageless gentleman shine through.
One of the greatest actors/ stars of all the times! And also, when you see these clips, you discover that his savoir faire and charm were true and sincere! Where are you my lucky stars?

I don't like the way sinatra presents the oscar to Mr Cary Grant at 1:55, Frank should know better than to say: 'But while you've got a little energy you'd better take this now, go on take it now before it fall down, that's it.' Horrible.

@ADirtDiggler That is a stupid, borderline offensive thing to say. You have no credibility. Clooney is not even in the same universe as any of the greats. Shame on you.

Clearly, one of the greatest actors in Hollywood history. One of the classiest men that ever lived. I am so grateful for this video, as I just love to see him.
I have never seen a movie of his that i didn't like. I think he was a good and truly sincere person. He should have been selected the most hansome man of the century instead of who ever.I was deeply sadden by his death.
I have waited years to watch this. Nobody does it better. The worlds greatest actor and the worlds best leading man. Such grace and as stated below pure class.
Ah, the class of yesteryear!! Mr. Grant had more class in his pinky than any of the actors of today. He and others of his ilk spoke with great aplomb and dignity and grace. And in his later years was even more handsome. And no man, maybe with the exception of Patrick McGoohan, could wear a tux better.
I said to the wife who a year ago hated old movies, what movie do you fancy tonight? A Cary Granter she replied. He is stil reaching people years later....:)
Frank had a sunburn tan on his nose... see where the glasses where?

Clearly, one of the greatest actors in Hollywood history. One of the classiest men that ever lived. I am so grateful for this video, as I just love to see him.

I have never seen a movie of his that i didn't like. I think he was a good and truly sincere person. He should have been selected the most hansome man of the century instead of who ever.I was deeply sadden by his death.

I have waited years to watch this. Nobody does it better. The worlds greatest actor and the worlds best leading man. Such grace and as stated below pure class.

Pure class!
