I just came back from Washington, D.C. yesterday. I was in line to be either scanned or patted down...or so I thought. I was travelling with another teenager and my teacher. Both of them got to go through the metal detector SANS patdown, whereas when I went through, I was made to go through the scanner. I was very upset at this. Both of them are heavier than me but yet nothing wrong with that. I'm 17 though. Help? Was this legal? Comments?

This is something done every day in (and around) Israeli airports, for instance. Your DMV example is better compared to gun safety than to terrorism.

Oddly enough, the average yearly dose value is about four times higher than EPA's yearly limit value. This includes about 85% from natural sources (including POTASSIUM! OMGAHS! BANANAS IRRADIATE YOO? uh, yeah. Not that big a deal). I'd like to see some specific values on the scanners, personally. Not that I doubt the danger, just that I'd like some clarity on just how much risk it could cause. And certainly how much it could push that 'average yearly dose' further up.

You can see through clothes using a well placed torch, or nightvision on your standard camcorder.

Standard metal detectors had been in use in US airports since the late 60s & had virtually stopped hijackings. That's really all you need. Great Video -- I fly several times a month and have always opt out of the scanner. I was traveling from Orlando to Boston on the 24th of Nov during the opt-out day. The lines going through Orlando Airport security are usually very long. However, on the 24th, on a day that should have been incredibly crowded -- they had every metal detector security line open for business and the scanners pretty much roped off and not used. No lines at all The press = propaganda

I've heard about the Federal Code that over throws the state one as well as I did some research on it. I can't wait for No Rap Left Behind! I am starting to freestyle more lately, I have been trying to record it but I get about 30 seconds to a minute before I start thinking to much about where it could go, instead of letting it out from within to go where it wants to. If I sit down and write, I can write about anything, whole page in less than 40 minutes. But like most projects they start off free, then get restricted.

Standard metal detectors had been in use in US airports since the late 60s & had virtually stopped hijackings. That's really all you need. The concept of an 'air marshall' onboard might also be OK, as that is not intrusive or humiliating to ppl.

Robert, i COMPLETELY agree with your statement of the govt using terrorist threats as a means to take away our personal freedoms. I cant agree the the twin towers was an inside job, but the notion that the US knew of the threat beforehand and didnt do much to prevent it seems possible. It's HORRIFYING to think that they may have allowed it to happen, knowing that it would enrage and scare the citizens enough we'd agree to anything as follow-up measures. My mother says she might go fly to Colombia to see her family on Summer vacation. Use to, it was fine. Now though, I don't want to imagine her getting pat down, and humiliated by the TSA. It scares me, and I feel terrible for her..

Great Video -- I fly several times a month and have always opt out of the scanner. I was traveling from Orlando to Boston on the 24th of Nov during the opt-out day. The lines going through Orlando Airport security are usually very long. However, on the 24th, on a day that should have been incredibly crowded -- they had every metal detector security line open for business and the scanners pretty much roped off and not used. No lines at all The press = propaganda

The state, which is only a commercial operation really, allows you to make a choice to either be harassed, or to accept inconvenience. Some ppl may not have that choice because there may not be a real alternative to flying. What should they do ? There is really a war going on, and the target is the citizen. You are made to give up the last thing you own, your privacy, and that of your family, to the state.

It´s pure harassment, and does nothing for inflight security. Since the 1970s planes cannot be hijacked, ground control can take over any hijacked plane. An interesting aspect of this is that the flight personnel is also targeted for harassment.

1. REFUSE to fly until these draconian measures cease.
2. INSIST that your Politicians and senior Government figures are PROTECTED by these screening measures for THEIR OWN SAFETY. Insist that the heads of the FBI, The CIA,The Pentagon and even the President are all scanned DAILY entering and leaving Government buildings. These scanners also should screen their own children daily just to be sure. If it's good enough for us it's good enough for them. I wonder how the "leaders" would react!

Ironic years before these security mesaures were even in place there is a scene in the movie that he was in called Airplane 2 where airport security lets two fully armed terrorists through the checkpoint but the security officers end up tackling an old lady.
