  • i love how in every other sonic playthrough they praised 06 and yet he freaks out here. Gets me even now 2 years from here.

  • Is it just me, or does FTA seem a bit more hyper in this part of the playthrough?

  • on the wii i beat this mofo in under a minute

  • 6:21 Oh my god Eggman's drilling his own crotch @_@

  • If u look when the camera goes upward at the end right before sonic throws eggman , u can see a dreamcast

  • the wii version of the egg dragoon is NOTHING like this one. fist, when ur falling throughthat tube or whatever at the beginning it looks like you're floating down, in this one it actually looks like your faling. oh yeah and he's REALLY repetitive. you only see him take his energy sword out twice during the last phase and you can just hit him over and over and over and over. it's hard not to get an S rank. and yes there are still fframe rate issues with the wii. not to mention the bad physics

  • FTA Is A Legend In This Part And He Said Exactly As I Was Thinking "It Makes Me Laugh Cos' I Own A Wii, FUCK U!!!"

  • I Laugh So Hard At "Fucking TODAY!!!" And Is Still Do

  • Absolutely one of the best soundtracks in the game.

  • This boss isn't as cool in the Wii version. You can keep him from launching any nonscripted attack.

  • What are the order fo the emeralds and the countries in which they are unlocked? Green Red then I can't remember but the yellow one was in the sand level. Hey I have a PS2. I'm phsycally fighting him (Guardian). 6 more views and it has all odd numbers. That was my last level in shadow. WHy can't you get the chaos emerald and then save the ark. And then after the egg dealer everythings fight.

  • 8:38 That kinda reminds me of X-Men Origins Wolverine when your falling down the sky while fighting the giant robot.

  • TURBO MEGAZORD REFRENCE FTW!!

  • The reason why chip didnt fly because if a flying creature is falling face up the wings are pressured when falling therefore he can't fly :3

  • In simple tearms, please.

  • You know, FTA says he's never heard Chip compared to Scrappy Doo, but in earlier parts, he himself says he acts like him in terms of the cartoon style of some of the cutscenes. Of course FTA doesn't have the best memory, so....this could be expected.

  • I'mma hafta prove you wrong in regards to the Unreal Engine beings a physics engine.

UE is a graphics and lighting engine. This is more apparent with the new Global Illumination system built in to the newer UE3 called Unreal Lightmass. Lighting realistically reflects off of surfaces and cast more realistic shadows. Emissive (bloom) textures can also be configured to give off light.

A true physics engine would be, for example, PhysX or Havok.

Btw, hardcore Unreal fan here :D

    Umm.. I'mma go now

  • Yeah, you do that.

    Crazy sucka.

  • ...Havok is what powers the 360 of Unleashed.

  • Why are you telling /me/ this, exactly?

  • @Skaarjguy

Speaking of PhysX, its in Colors. I don't even move the control stick and Sonic still falls off the damned edge.

  • I'll bet Eggman has a wierd insurance policy where when his robots get slagged, he gets a big cash pay off. Ka-ching!

  • what other sonic games are on your playthrough agenda? curious...

  • 3+Knuckles, CD, Chronicles, Shadow the Hedgehog, Secret Rings.

  • you're not going to do any of the rush or advance series?

  • Can't do Rush, since the emulator freezes on the second level.

Never played the Advance series either, so that's a no go too.

  • thats too bad.. i heard Advance 2 was really good...

im guessing Riders and Rivals are out of the question too huh?

  • Riders yes, Rivals perhaps not.

  • knuckles chaotix?

  • Probably not, I can't really screen-record with a decent framerate.

  • hmmm... im thinking about recording my own gameplays... what would you recommend for a noob?

  • @HellfireComms

    *Giant Gasp*

Your gonna play Shadow The Hedgehog!?

    *Dances for joy*

  • Unleashed wasn't finished today, maybe in another two parts. Also "Which one is the Egg Dragoon?" "It's the one we're fighting right now." Genius Stupidity = Win. Keep this awesomeness up you guys!

  • from 2:14 to where tails crashes youre voices are lipseeked, and FTA's laugh makes him crash

  • Hang on did i detect a Yu Gi Oh Abriged Referance at 0:40 there Tom?

  • Maybe, but that phrase is a joke from something else.

  • FTA is awesome

    lol at 0:13

  • this is your 555th upload, tom! :D you should be proud!!

  • Maybe Eggman's robot won't work without a weakspotthat on the front. It's a design flaw, yes, but it's the only way it'll work.

  • This battle was one Eggman's most epic moments because now he's not kidding anymore!

He also says,"Stubborn Little Pincushon! Just die already!!"

  • F-F-TA! U-U-UR BACK! WE'RE SO GLAD UR BACK! xDDDD

  • The level your thinking of FTA is Cosmic Fall.

Lost Impact is the one in which you travel with Maria.

  • I liked the avoid bullets and rays sections from the day bosses quite a lot.

I do agree that quick time events were spammed too much for night bosses as well.

I liked the 60 x buttom though, it's just funny.

  • You guys are finally back :D happy times

  • Great job. Your commentary is pretty dam accurate. I look forward to your next video.

  • Actually, the most overused quicktime event is the final boss fight to the video game Nightmare Before Christmas Oogie's Revenge. Go search it up and you'll see why. It's twice as hard than Dark Gaia's final quicktime event. I'm dead serious.

  • Fun fact...

The little "You little" eggman says is taken directly from Sonic 06's Egg Wyvern battle(I think that he says it in the 360 version, I definitely know it's in the wii version)

  • Do you mean it's a callback to 06, or they just reused the line.

Because I'm fairly certain it's not the latter.

  • It's a reused line. I know the wii version is at least, but now I can't remember if it was in the 360 version or not(Check very quickly)

  • Sorry for the 14 hour response XD

I checked and it is indeed the same(The wii version is extremely noticeable since after EVERY hit he says that. Also in Sonic 06 he says it around hit 5ish)

  • 6:51 Actually Tom I played that boss fight and it's 10 times more pathetically easy than the 360's. You can beat him in well under a minute.

    *Punch, punch, punch

    *He jumps away 20 feet

    *Run back up to him

    *Punch punch punch, dead...

  • If SEGA has another giant monster, I want Eggman to build a machine where he takes over the monster's body and forces it to continue fighting. Be a neat final boss where you can't hurt the monster itself since it's not doing the carnage on its own, but instead have to find a way to attack only Eggman.

  • That's actually what should have happened to Dark Gaia, IMO.

  • Well, with the way they went with Chip, it's suitable.

Wait, I just had a brilliant idea. The final boss is rampaging Dark Gaia, then Eggman landing mind control devices on Dark Gaia first, then the same thing but on Chip. Be a pretty epic twist with the friendship they developed during the game.

  • Ok, I still say 360/PS3 version is better, but i will agree with FTA in that the Wii's final boss is better. And honestly, that's the only thing i like about the Wii version. (yes, i have both versions)

  • FTA RAGE!!!!!!!!!!!

  • yes!!! i... am... not... goin... to... die!!!!

  • 360/ps3 version is better than wii imo, though fta's right. the final boss is better on wii.

  • In the Wii version you have a little fight as Chip which is piss easy, same sonic speed sections as 360 then Chip all of a sudden buggers off to allows Sonic to do everything in one of in my opinion the most repetitive Super Sonic fight of the 3-D era. As you progress there are no new attacks to stop you or obstacles.

  • ALL the Super Sonic fights are repetitive. In every fight, Chaos, Biolizard, Metal Sonic, Devil Doom etc you ALWAYS just do the same thing over and over again.

  • That is a true FTA, but as you go through those final bosses, they get new attacks.

Perfect Chaos sporns torandoes, Bio Lizard with the balls, Metal Sonic uses chaos control, even Solaris brings something new in the fact his second phase can only be attacked whilst he is attacking.

Perfect Dark Gaia on the Wii however, doesnt change throughout the entire fight, you dodge his slash whilst gathering rings, than boost whilst dodging rocks. Repeated 8 times makes that a very repetitive fight.

  • Repetitive, but fun all-in-all.

  • I got something to kick FTA's 'superior' final boss in the bum hole. This aint Sonics battle, Its Light Gaia (Chip) and Dark Gaia's battle.

The 360 versions gives a new twist in which Sonic is the side kick, he helps Chip out by taking out eyes, shields and hands to allow Chip to complete his mission.

  • ......HA.

On the Wii version you get a sweet "Punch-Out" like fight. On the 360 you get a horrible camera, and boring gameplay.

  • I will admit that our Dark Gaia sucked, but at least it was a quite different, although poorly executed, final boss in a while.

  • As leader of the Church of Eggbotnik I am boycotting this part of this playthrough due to unnecessary malicious comments made about our glorious and sexy Doctor.

  • Oh Christ.......may God help us all!

  • Ya know when Eggman uses that drill as a sword, your totally safe if your right under him, so to speak

  • awesome love the playthrough

  • Hey tom how come you dont use the comet punch on the dragoons fuck me weak point? it DESTROYS it!

  • Eggman needs a Twitter account. Then he won't have to keep his secrets to himself.

  • Egg Dealer... oy....

I understand it's a slot machine, but if you are trying to terminate your enemy, why would you design the machine to have a % chance of wrecking itself?

  • Also it annoys me too, that Eggman puts the weakness on the front and makes it LIGHT UP! Its actually even worse cos sometimes when you hit Eggman, sometimes he complains "Every time!". If you dont wanna get hit Eggman, DONT FLOAT NEAR THE PLATFORM!!!

  • 10:19 I knew someone would make that joke, and its still funny as hell!

  • Garreth in the first 30 sseconds = the FTA that we all love! The crazy one!

  • 1:08 Yes now if only the Wii version had ACTUAL hub worlds, added fanservice like Mazuri day music and an unofficial apology for Nex Gen in the Egg Robo bio description, not overly easy, an in-game model that matches the cut-scene model, lengthened game-play, 2 extra levels, download-able content, not force you to talk to almost every person in the static hub world screen, actually adventure based, and beautifully designed day levels, as opposed to the PS3/360's...slight frame rate issues...

  • As opposed to the most boring and pointless mini game ever in the form of the Tornado levels, the cheapest way to extend a games life span via collecting medals, frame rate issues during entire levels and hub worlds, the Wii version actually has many more levels than the 360 version if you count all the seperate Werehog levels which actually have more platforming than its next-gen counterpart.

  • Entire levels?

Dude, that's hyperbole and you know it lol.

  • You're the one who said the Jungle level has issue's throughout it.

I'll be on Skype in like 15 mins, just gonna shower and get dressed.

  • I said parts of it did, you silly king.

  • Still more than there is in the Wii version.

I ain't tryin' to start a fight here, just can't stand bias like that. It angers my poor spider brain.

  • Speaking to everyone in the hub world can be done at the click of a button and will get you to the levels faster than the 360 can. The Gaia Gates, which are the 3D hub worlds of the Wii actually have platforming sections in them, this makes them far better than the 360 version. Also the "Gaia Gate" theme is one of the best tracks of the soundtrack, but is only heard for a 20 second cutscene on the 360. The Wii version has no story problems either.

Still, good thing no one biased here, eh?

  • 360 hubs have platforming to get to the secret levels.

    Just sayin'.

  • LIES!!!! LIES AND SLANDER!!!

  • OWNED.

  • No "owned" is playing the Wii version's final boss, after the joke that is the 360 version.

    Oh snap!

  • That doesn't make sense mate, re-read it.

    Double owned.

  • And don't get me started on the 360's final boss, there's no way you can claim that's better than the Wii's version.

  • part 29, you've never looked so snazzy.

  • You know this one of those moments where Sonic goes up close and personal by defeating Eggmsn by throwing his Hoverchair

  • FUCKING TODAY!!!!!!!

    xD amazing man

  • Sega seems to love to re-use cut and paste it's previous bosses in it's newer games. Minus the minions appearing this is so similar to Olga Flow in PSO Episode 2

  • A few moments there FTA seemed to be turning into Darknessthecurse or something.

  • You know, about chip falling. I think the reason behind that is because maybe the sudden drop from the impact would cause chip to be unable to gain the momentum to fly. Also that he's probably too freaked out to try flying.

  • Even though I don't recall dying against the Egg Dragoon on my Wii version, I liked that Sega put in an endgame battle against Robotnik as a prelude to DG. It was better to have both than just Dark Gaia imho. Still like NTom and a whole bunch of us wish, hopefully no monster of the week scenario next game [save it for the Storybook side series I say].

As for framerate issues, they seem to have become more common the beefier & PC-like consoles get. Next gen won't have as big a leaps thankfully.

  • You can tell if someone's actually smart.

    They have common sense.

  • Robotnik will actually destroy every platform if you take too long to beat him.

He'll even gloat for a bit (while being invincible, of course), before destroying the final platform.

  • Glad to see another part. ^^ Just curious, but do you guys still enjoy the game like you did when you started this playthrough? You just seem a little less enthusiastic about it. But you guys are still fucking hilarious.

  • The diminished enthusiasm is from the recording difficulties, not so much the game itself.

We'll most likely be summing up our thoughts in a part or two.

  • Gotta admit that this is a pretty cool boss. Manly rocket drills have much love. Though I wish his robot looked more like a super anime robot with loads of fancy moves.

  • BTW, major plothole in Sonic Unleashed

If you think about the chaos emeralds before you restore them...

Then compare it to the chaos emeralds right before you battle Perfect Chaos in SA1...

That's right, he could have gone super at any moment, but decided not to and just wander the planet trying to restore them(Which he didn't need to, according to SA1)

  • In Adventure, Chaos only took the negative energy of the Emeralds.

Robotnik drained ALL of the energy, both positive /and/ negative out of the Emeralds in order to split up the planet.

  • Hmm, never thought of it that way

But you at least have to admit that it looks almost the exate same as in SA1

  • I don't understand what you're trying to say, to be honest.

Are you saying the Emeralds LOOK the same as in SA1?

  • I was saying that I thought it was just the same senerio as SA1, which you pointed out that it was something different

  • Scrappy-Doo?! Seriously? I heard more about the comparison between Chip and Navi from Zelda.

PUPPY POWER! Haha! I loved that!

  • You guys didn't even comment on the fact that the white Emerald was the last one to get restored.

  • Since it got changed from Gray to White, it doesn't really seem like a talking point anymore.

  • Still, it seems like SEGA is somewhat acknowledging its title as the Control Emerald in the comics, since it seems to play a slightly larger role in recent games.

  • yeah get with the program tom

  • I'd agree about the weak spot, but at least in the Wii version Chip dosen't treat you like a moron and OBVIOUSLY POINT IT OUT TO YOU!

Although the Wii version dosen't have that epic QTE to kill it.

  • The Falling Cutscene Reminds me of Metroid Prime 3, Looks familiar...

  • There's a third giant platform you can fall to? I always beat him on the second...

  • I think there was 5 overall. I checked wondering if I could die that way.

  • In the next part CG Were-Sonic looks like he has a lisp.

  • the wii uses blast processing lol

  • I wonder how much SEGA had to pay DCT ( Dreams Come True, the band that owns the rights) to remix GHZ in Sonic Advance 3?

  • The uhh, prototype of the prototype!

    lol that was funny

  • As far as I can tell, the Hedgehog Engine is indeedy related to the lighting (specifically, baking in Global Illumination into the world, and a method to fake real-time reflected light on the characters). Not sure about: physics, meshes, controls, sound, networking, all that other stuff that makes up an "engine".

Not sure if it's akin to Mirror's Edge, which was the Unreal Engine with a custom lighting solution to render the incredible visuals.

  • I remeber the Live Action Scooby Doo movie big tiwst. That'll be the best Commentary: On my part and maybe yours too.

  • "Fuckin' TODDAYYY!!!"

    that made me laugh XD

  • I'm with ntom about eggman's machine looking like the Turbo MegaZord, hmmm.......... Go Go EggMan Rangers!!!!

  • LMFAO Looks like were blasting off again! ding!

  • In the Wii version boss battle, you can hit him so that he almost never attacks you.

  • Am I the only one having difficulty watching this video past 5:40? Bummer.

  • Hang on, how can't FTA see the similarity between Chip and Scrappy Doo? Did he not mention it way back in Mazuri? Mind you it was like, a millenia ago.

  • If you want to get technical, he said he never saw anyone /else/ make that connection.

  • I did??

I'll be honest I don't remember half the crap I say in this commentaries dude.

  • Yeah for Mindless Banter and Ranting!

  • i hate the medal mechanic and the tornado minigames but i still fuckin love this game! ^.^

  • i think this machine had an excuse for a fuck em button. it was a prototype, so maybe he jsut didn't have the casing for it on yet.

  • omg yu-gi-oh abridged joke

    it made me lol Tom

  • Sorry FTA, I absolutely HATE Sonic Chronicles' soundtrack. Only Battle theme 4 is amazing.

  • He was being sarcastic. He's made countless rants on the game's soundtrack... Hope I don't sound mean ;P

  • .......dude I was being sarcastic. Chronicles score sucks, but Battlle 4 is awesome!

  • This playthrough was actually started over a year ago.

  • Part 1 went up on the 1st of Decemeber, 2008.

  • Part 1 on your channel says that it was posted March 26, 2008.

  • Oh... idiot moment, I was looking at the wrong sonic playthrough.

  • The way I see it I think the weak spot is on the front because he did say it was the prototype and I guess he was gonna make armor for it. Eggman doesn't think most of his plans through like BEING FREAKING BETRAYED FOR THE 10th TIME. But eh it's a game, can't complain much.

  • He hasn't learned his lesson from Chaos, as the last time he tried to control a powerful being of immense size and power...

As for his robots, Metal Sonic, Gamma and Omega rebelled due to defective programming (if he was the "super genius" he says he is, he should've added a failsafe in case they did something like that), SA-55 on the other hand is doing his job, although unlike C-3P0, he DOES take pleasure when Dr Eggman is upstaged, humiliated or caught off guard.

  • SA-55? Is that supposed to be the official name for "Ergo"? If so, where did you find it? Or is it a fan name (presumably something to do with the word "sass")?

  • To be fair to Eggman, he didn't really know Gamma rebelled, or Omega for that matter until maybe the end of the game. So perhaps he never thought his creations would betray him.

  • from 7:12 why does Eggman get Gundam/Code Geass Mechas wings?

  • BECAUSE, Just BECAUSE.

  • I can see the scrappy doo thing. you know the punching the air thing chip does it reminds me of scrappy.

  • I feel sorry for FTA now

  • That wasn't Lost Impact, that was Cosmic Fall. Lost Impact is the one where you go on a hunt for a ton of Artificial Chaoses.

  • Haaate that level -_-

  • Isn't that just The Ark?

I'm sure there were two levels were you traversed falling platforms.

  • WHen you made that Turbo Megazord reference I got a picture of my head of Robotnic with a control and all the power rangers megazords standing behind him ready to battle Sonic.

  • CHIPPY POWER

  • It comes to an end sadly...

  • The downside to the Wii's cutscenes is that they're all pre-rendered at an inferior resolution to the real-time cutscenes in the 360/PS3 version, so they don't look quite as smooth 'n' shiny.

  • I played the 360 version and it had absolutely no framerate issues in the cutscenes. Now Adabat, that's another story.

  • this boss was CRAZY easy to beat in the ps2 version XD Ive fought like ...first world bosses that had an easy pattern to destroy them and they were harder then this...-buys sonic unleashed for 360- >.>;; lets see if this makes a difference..

  • FTA's random bursts of anger were so hilarious!

"When's Unleashed getting finished? FUCKING TODAAAYYY!"

  • Oh c'mon, Sonic Chronicles wasn't a bad.........okay it wasn't good but I wouldn't call it bad. More like, average, mediocre, run-of-the-mill.

  • lol " FML"

  • It doesn't lag on the Wii cos they're pre-recorded, i.e they look like low-res MPEG's blown up to full screen.

  • FTA sounds like he's having a mental breakdown throughout the entire video. ... Then again, I don't blamhe him. xD

  • Hoozah! Another Unleashed part.....well see you next year for the next one.

  • 2010 at the very least, I would think.

  • for those getting an s-rank, here is my tip: spam AERIAL comboes so you can hit both "fuck me" parts and it stalls the super-specail-awesome protoypte-1 (aka egg dragoon) for more killing time.

  • Most of the music in Sonic Chronicles is actually other people's fanmade MIDIs. SEGA could use them without any problems seeing as they were made from their own original songs.

  • Seriously?

  • No, thats a rumour. Richard Jacques has confirmed everything he composed is whats in the game.

  • The Hedgehog Engine was made for Lighting and Speed effects the Havoc engine was what they used for Physics.

Also if you tried to fly when falling that fast you'd rip your wings off..

  • 7:12 Ice Time? O:

  • 3:42- Speaking of logic questions, how does the Tornado fly UP when hit?

No matter which system it's on, though, the Egg Dragoon fight is still an awesome fight.

  • Hey FTA, when's unleashed getting finished

    (lol)

  • I laughed my ass off at fastest thing alive's ranting at the start.

  • Actually, is the PS3 version, has no framerate issues, actually the framerate is only really a problem at night and in Adabat day.

The framerate is a problem because the cutscenes have to be processed. In the Wii version they are videos so they don't need to be processed

  • i like to think that robotnik is cocky and thats why he puts weak points on his robots and stuff.

  • Go go Eggman Rangers! XD

  • I don't care what you say, the 360 final boss was one of my favourite final bosses ever. I put that over Solaris, Biolizard, Chaos, Devil Doom and Metal Sonic. And that instrumental of Endless possibilities was brilliant. Its not quite Solaris phase 2 but its close.

  • FTA starts as crazy as he ended the last part.

3:53-4:07 As a quote Ntom from an earlier part,

    ''Damn son! That was hardcore!''

  • How can Eggman and Sonic burrow into the core of the Earth if the continent is still in space? Plotholes!

  • 4:00 to 4:07 yes this is true the concept was a bit off but they could have done so much more with the werehog than a mediocre god of war beat em up. When I first saw his stretch arms a thought I would be flipping around the place with insane acrobatics and platforming but sadly I was restricted to X,X,X,X,X and occasionally A,A. I totally agree for eggman being a final boss I haven't seen that in soooooooooooo long! Awesome video 5/5

  • @jerphunter if I could have rated the video lol.....

@lazygirlgamer this game does not deserve all the criticism it got but it was far from the best sonic game...really far I still enjoyed it though...

  • I really need to get into the sonic games, they have a good bit of history, sadly all I have is the first 3 on the Genesis, but hey good place to start huh :P
