In this video I used cedega but the game runs better with wine. I would recommend using wine unless you are fond of the user interface provided by cedega. Some things that work better in wine are all of the graphics settings including shadows, which cause the game to crash indoors with cedega, and the fog that surrounds you when outside in the daylight renders better in wine and has the correct density. Joystick rumble through the iforce kernel module works in wine in combination with this game.
I just found my Silent Hill 2 CDs, I've installed this on Wine + Ubuntu 64-bit and it ran smoothly without any problems. Even in windowed mode this game still scares the shit out of me >.> but yeah If you're aren't using Cedega you should try wine.
@spizec Arch is if you have a 32-bit or 64-bit system, you distro is what Linux you're using like Mwoodj is using Gentoo Linux, I use Arch Linux, I'm assuming you're using Ubuntu? I needed to know if you have an ATI or NVIDIA cause ATI cards just suck on Linux due to shitty drivers and finaly you need to update your wine to the latest version. The currect latest wine is 1.3.0 that has many bug fixes and probably fix your problem too.
@spizec When you update your wine remember to open a terminal (Gnome-Terminal, urxvt, xterm) and type "wineboot --update" that will update your wine settings and files if needed.
I installed this game and the game runs fine, however does not appear the game menus or subtitles in the game.
