I'm glad that the videos are helpful :) But I'll not be able to help with the morris dances ... I used to dance before I broke my back and became a little disabled ... that's why I decided to learn to play the tunes ;) Good luck with it all, Martyn
I play in a Morris band here in Sweden. We bought a wheatstone (for 60£ :))many years ago that noone really learnt to play. When our melodeonplayer and one of our guitarrists gave up I tried who ususally plays woodwinds, and with help of your videos i solved the da Vinci code:) Great videos! Thanks alot! Can I ask for a similar serie learning out Morrisdances?:)
Great ... sorry about the quality of the earlier ones ... 2 1/2 years ago broadband speeds were much slower and 50Mb files took forever to upload! My recent video files are around 20Mb per minute and they look great on here :)
:) Thanks for the kind comments ... it's not so difficult to download the video yourself and keep it on your computer ... search for a website called Keep Tube :)
Hey Martin, I have been practicing and have just gone back over you old videos. I can not tell you how much your videos have helped me. My wife is actually starting to make request THAT I PLAY!! To get her to say I'm doing something right normally takes an act of Congress. Thanks again and a note to those just biggining, If you practice a little every day, it IS very hard to get worse. Thanks
Hi again ... glad you've found them helpful ... I too have found it difficult to practice with family around ... there will be a new video about that issue soon! Regards Martyn
Hi Subutubiata ... the poor kid's dad here ... she didn't tell you that she has to do 3 hours piano practice every day too. As for embarrassment ... she's the daughter of a Morris Dancer so we hit that wall many years ago lol
The poor kid on violin looks as if she's expecting the old man to get up and boogie - she must be pretty close to the limit of her adolescent embarrassment threshold!
Hi ... 'poor kid on violin' here ... dad makes me play otherwise I don't get dinner! In fact, he makes me busk in town so he doesn't have to give me pocket money!
Hey Martin, Thanks for the spark. I was lacking in my concertina studies and needed this boost to get me fired up again. Your daughter plays beautifully. Would you mind playing The Old Ash Grove please? It's a nice slow air that can have a lot of incidentals if you go the bluegrass route.
If you'd send me a link to an online copy of the music we can do that ... but will be away from home until early Sept.
Can I ask ... did playing along with us work? Is the sound ok through your pc speakers? Thanks for the feedback and glad you're playing ... regards Martyn
Sure thing Martin, You can find it in Frank Butler's book which you can download for free at concertina dot com and the bluegrass version can be had at jaybuckey dot com . You can also listen to it at the latter.
I can't post a url for some reason. Playing along with you helps a lot. The sound is good through my pc speakers.
i think i got your lessons about Major and Minor scales well in my head. It's a piece of cake thanks to you!
Do me a favour Martyn and play some nice Irish tunes on your EC! I started with slow airs. You can do me some reels, jigs, slip jigs or hornpipes. (lol)
Catherine is so talented. Bring her back again! Really enjoyed this video, but will have to practice to keep up with you! I bought a concertina on ebay and will go back a few videos to catch up to you. Don't take so long before posting the next video. You have been missed! (And just some trivia: We Americans call the first song "Go Tell Aunt Rhody")
Thanks for the message ... yes, Catherine is doing well ... and I'm sorry that it took a while to post ... we were busy at home and it took a while for the 'idea' for the video to come together in my mind ... it's not easy trying to pitch things to an unknown audience ... but we try. Regards for now Martyn

Hi, great series , perhaps you could help myself and others, a little more,
by showing us examples of how to enhance ( chords etc. ) complete songs.
The first song I am trying to learn, is that wonderful song by Pete Seeger, Where have all the flowers Gone.
The only music I could find was tin whistle music, but it does give the basic notes and with no sharps or flats.
I am slowly getting to grips with the melody, but how would you enhance this song.
Thanks for a great series. Roger
