  • This would sound better with a Martin guitar.

  • shows how fucked up is amerika to vote a man of heart such as he out out congress, hang all in public with power of pitchforks, see totse.com how to'

  • @hodad52

yes. We live in a nation of greedy illiterate dummies.

  • Post Fukushima, this song is as timely as it ever was...

  • It's a great song from a great artist. In fact, I have every album John's ever done. But what he doesn't realize is nuclear energy is the ONLY fuel that can power entire cities, and burn greenhouse gas free!! Solar, wind, and bio-fuel are not formidable alternatives to meet the needs of heavily dense populations. By the way, the best John Hall song ever---"Break of Day"

  • Is there any chance that John Hall, Graham Nash, Bonnie Raitt, Jackson Browne, James Taylor, Carly Simon and all the rest can get back together and finish the job this time? MUSE concerts were a fantastic idea, but we need to do it again, Bigger and longer this time.

  • There you are! I have been looking for you and this song for over thirty years and have sung it to myself and unsuspecting victims for longer than that. Thank you for articulating such a powerful statement and it is more relevant now than ever.Laura

  • so moving...so true...2001 is a time to re-think about nuclear power and political powers...peace from hk...

  • Here are some videos from the MUSE era. I was there in Battery Park, and later that year started a second masters degree in Alternative Energy (having written my paper at Dartmouth in '74 on the environmental effects of the liquid metal fast breeder reactor), just to dump the degree in the garbage as Reagan was tearing solar panels off the White House. There are 2 YouTube clips of John Hall singing this song in 1979 that I'm trying to include here - errors! We Need More Muse Concerts NOW.

  • In light of all that has happened in Japan the past few days this song comes back to my mind. I was at the No Nukes concert in 1979

  • nice song, but you get more kilowatts per dollar using nukes. Solar and wind are nice to look at in the yard, esp a wind generator.

  • they call it clean power... john called it poison power. god i hope they can keep that thing under control at fukushima 1. man builts it, but forgets... there is nothing stronger then nature's power.

  • Not a badly written song at all, actually. The lyrics, the sentiment are moving and timeless; the Sun, we owe our very existence to it; and all it does is keep on giving. Thanks to the uploader and to Mr Hall for this splendid awakening of conscience. We all need each other. Peace.

  • Very enjoyable. Well done sir

  • Sadly John Hall was defeated in the recent (Nov 2010) elections. A real loss. But the music still carries the message.

  • Well Mr. Hall, I've loved this song since No Nukes. Now I'm in the Green Party of New Brunswick, going to a fundraiser in a couple of weeks and plan to play it. Sadly we are still dealing with failed atom splitters up here and we hope the refurbishment of Lepreau 1 will called off as it is just good money after bad now. Take care, Chris

  • Nice job John. You brought that to light.

  • No Offense Pete, that long neck Vega 5 string just dont fit there..but..GREAT job John..your playing has been an inspiration to me since the mid seventies..

  • oh boy.

  • It would be nice to see a tribute album to the songs of John Hall. I would love to record 'Sails', anyway what a huge talent he is! I always had the suspicion back when he was writing hits that there was more to him than meets the eye.

  • Hey everyone, I need some help, Does anyone know where can I download this song? Im searching it in .mp3 format and I can't find it anywhere.

Any help I will appreciate, because I've been searching for this song for a lot of time with no results!

    Thanks for reading.

  • @thedoorsundead Its out there but it's not the original version that I cannot find anywhere. I made a copy of it on a cassette tape the very first day I heard it and thats all I have.

  • I know there used to be a version of this song from the no nukes konsert in 79-80 up on youtube. Anyone knows if it has been removed? I cant find it, and it was so good!!!

Everyone was there, like James Taylor, Graham Nash and Jackson Browne...

  • yea, i was about to ask the same thing! I was obsessed with that video

  • oh. . . it was removed by muse foundation because of copyright shit. . .

  • Yeah I thought so... I cant remember it being on the album, not that version. When John starts to sing the first vers I just get blown away by the voice, and then Jackson sings the other one...

  • @bulle450 And Bonnie Raitt. I know the version you're talking about I have it on my desktop. I also bought the album "Power" back in 1979. Night was another great John Hall album from the same time.

  • New York you got a good man there...

  • Thank you so much for up loading this song. Like many others, I have searching high and low for this song by John.

Can't believe we are still dealing with these 'poison power' decades later.

    Rock on John!

    From Hong Kong

  • Hey NY, you're lucky to have a congressman who thinks like more congressmen and more Americans should.

  • John just did our fireman parade in Warwick N.Y. I have been aware of him since '79's No Nuke concert. Congressman Hall I salute you.

He is one politcian, you can trust.

  • I've loved his music since the 70's and know he's a nice guy. Just wondering what makes him qualified as a politician and trustworthy? Not a criticism, just a query.

  • @MyToastGrowled

Thats a good question. When he was on the road w/Orleans I remember he kept up this running commentary about how the country was in danger, we were loosing our democracy and I realized at the time he was thinking circles around a lot of people at the time who just wanted to have a good time and could have cared less what happened tomorrow. I believe there are still just 2 kinds of people, those who have a social conscience and those who do not. I think he always stood for hope

  • wow, could that be uncle Pete playing banjo with John Hall?

  • Yes indeed, Pete Seeger is still singing out at 89. It was a wonderful evening.

  • @dmale01 That's exactly what I said as soon as I saw him! I had the privilege of sharing a stage with "Uncle Pete" when I sang with the NYC Metro Raging Grannies at Clearwater in 2007. I felt very blessed.

  • omigosh!eureka!at last!ive been searching this powerful song years ago and i only found it now.so john hall, a congressman, was the composer - great guy! also found long lost songs my parents have been humming or singing when i was little but they cant remember the titles nor the artists.let my mother hear these just now and shes nostalgic (me too)!cant wait to let my dad hear these alsono... countless thanks, youtube!

  • Just a few people knows John Hall here in Brazil. But I am happy to see that he goes on with his ideas and ideals. Not so handsome as he used to be (thanks God I'm not the only one who gets old) but with the same shinning eyes. Nice memory.
