  • This & The Dudes.

  • AHHH DAMN... i love stumbling upon little treasures like this. i will pass this on to my younger sister... she takes after my musical tastes. but yeah... GOOD fuckign song man. hope to find more like this. the boys r sexy.

  • classic punk rock. i remember years ago listening to AK79, the compilation of aukland punk from 1979 with this song on it. beautiful punk rock which seems to have been for the most part overlooked cos no-one knows what's happening in new zealand. almost the same as in australia, (where i am from) but we seemed to have gotten a bit more recognition. pity cos nz punk was and is as good as anywahere else in the world.

  • Cool to read input from Mr.Volume himself ! Excellent times at Zwines but a bastard when the "faggots in pseudo tapa" from babes decided to flex cock - truth be known- taro down the lycra!

  • Came across these blokes in and around Auckland in the capacity of the author's- shall we say occupation. Went to Zwines one night & had the best night / morning in me then 22 years of life. Became ressonably pissed of with the "disco bunnies" from babes (?) chocolate factory when one particularly "brave" snotgobbler pushed a girl (Zwines patron) over. Needless to say the "fulla" got a kickin'- albeit covertly.

  • Wow...I cant believe Brendan Perry lives 15 minutes for my house...how awesome is that?

  • I saw them many times live at Zwines..

    Gail Force Ebony

  • @moriceyoung

I remember a girl from Zwines called Gail Force. I used to fancy her desperately. She was knocking off Bones from the Assassins (used to be in Sub Reps and later the Swingers). Any relation? Dean Martelli had his wicked way as well. I was a jealous young man in those days. Was a treat just to talk to her though.

  • So cool!!!

Can't believe this is Brendan Perry from DeadCanDance!

  • This is my generation!

    Rock on

  • I wish this were my generation.

Well I'm the child of people of this generation.

  • OOOOOaaaahhhhh!!!!

What a blast from the past!

Makes me want to try to POGO these eging bones.

Funny...I never thought it would happen to me!

    Thanks for the mems'

  • Absolute classic. As a teenager, and a 40-something all these years later, very much into this great music. Thanks for that!

  • So good seeing this band again after so long. Never missed a night when they played at Zwines in Auckland. Strangely, Hello Sailor played first one night, playing everything faster to try to fit in. After a bit the we all started chanting "we want Scavs, we want Scavs." For some reason everyone stopped at once except for one guy alone on the dance floor. One of the band leaned over and said very deliberately "you've probably already got scavs mate." Then Scavengers came on and blew us all away.

  • There was once graffitied on three lamp posts in Christchurch.....

    ...Nine to fiver

    ...Social Climber

    ....Oh Yeah !!!!

Always missed the backing vocals on the AK79 version, thanks for posting this.... brings back memories, even played this song in my school band.

  • man NZ had some good stuff. This is the only late 70's NZ band i have heard though... only stuff i know is like La De Da's / Avengers / Underdogs...etc

  • How cum you guys used elemenop singer at your reunion gig at rising sun?

  • what's elemenop?????????

  • LOL!

  • @NZtubbs hi, the singer was from d4, dean

  • That rules. Any Marching Girls material ?

  • jvolume are you Johnny volume the lead singer?

  • guitarist... Ronnie recent(bperry) did lead singing

  • brilliant!

  • Bredan is great! All those "oh, yeah" are so Ramones-esque!!

  • People change, literally...

  • Wow how old was Perry here? How on earth did he come from this to Dead Can Dance?

  • bperry was 17 here. DCD came about 2 or 3 years later... Shane (drummer from a band called Microfilm) arrived with his singer Lisa Gerrad.

That specialXXXXthing happened when she took Ronnie's hand and read his palm. A day or so later MGs left for an NZ tour and fell apart.

Back in melbourne Ronnie reverted to Bperry, moved to Nth melb. with Lisa and with Des Hefner on drums and Paul Erikson on bass began DCD.

  • thanks for that, I'm putting band togther that does kiwi and ozzie music mysterex is one of the songs I've nominated to along with saturday night by the suburban reptiles. Any thoughts on the current state of music today? I must be showing my age but it doesn't as lively as when you guys, mockers, flesh d-vices, th'dudes, Swingers, tigers were making music IMHO. Mysterex never ceases to amaze me with its composition and structure. Bperry was only 17? = amazing.

  • BP,he's really 17 here? His voice is totally different to what i can hear now on his myspace profile.thanks.

  • @jvolume Do you know what she read on his hand? And were you there when they met for the first time?

  • This is great stuff. I have never heard, let alone seen, any of Perry's Scavengers' music or band. Thanks!

  • are any of these guys brendan perry? i cant recognize him

  • the singer/bass player

  • Freaking Ace! AK79, anyone else have that one? Thanks a lot jvolume ..
