No, you don't. This band manage just fine without complex, intuitive riffs.

They have good melodies and a perfect balance between heaviness and soft catchiness.

Add that up with some above average lyrics for the genre and you have a perfectly decent band.

Sure, they're not very progressive or insanely technical, but that's really not the point with this band.
