Wow he's really off key here. And it doesnt help that the song was played in a much faster tempo. No wonder there's no official live releases from this era, probably because Bruce was struggling with his vocals. Mostly cringing while watching this vid. But nonetheless he's still one of the best heavy metal vocalists and a great frontman. Up the Irons!
i think bruce struggling wit his voice is all about wear and tear on his voice..remember maiden was touring practically nonstop in the 80's putting out albums every other year...and touring so extensively as they did....now a days they put out albums every 4 or 5 years, and they dont do massive tours..plus bruce warms his voice up and so it sounds good
Back in the 80s during the Powerslave to Seventh Son era they were touring ALOT like sometimes 4 or 5 shows in a row with no breaks in between so thats really the main reason why people say Bruce doesn't sound as good as he does on the record is because singing at the pace and notes that he does for 4 or 5 days straight is really tired also probably why he was sick alot during that time .
lol, on live after death he had to just scream some of the lyrics & he was lucky not too have done permanent damage. Even his first solo album had a much more soulful approach which no one had really heard before. He's definitely the finished article now like u say

pity bruce struggled with his voice for much of this tour. His singing was amazing this year at twickenham, 21 years later!

I don't think really had a really great voice until the 90's (Live at donington 1992) live.
At Live after death you can hear him trying to reach the highest notes, but it just makes him sound like hes about to cry.
Bruce is on the top of his career now adays!
