@xotorissecret it can either be ur password for the device or its the PIN of your device. Its a unique device id by which the desktop manager recognizes the blackberry.
hi i followed all these steps and installed the device software but the application loader doesnt seem to detect the installed software, it cant detect the east asian language pack :|
Hello I have a problem. I had it all fine until quite the last step, i could install the display one but could not install the input. It said net.rim.platform.lang.ko and others like .th .ch etc. are required. So now I can read the fonts but can not type it. Please help :(

I am having a problem with my blackberry pearl. I have installed the Korean language, however, the way that it types, is completely different than that of the actual korean keyboard, if that makes sense. For example, if I was to install English on my phone, instead of typing out qwerty, like a keyboard, it types out abcde in that order. Is there ANY way to change the order in which the korean symbols are so that it matches the actual korean keyboard??
@yoonerz I am sorry there is no fix for that. Its the scripting in the software and that cannot be changed. Usually I have noticed that the language packs work better on full size keyboards like the once on 8310, 9700 etc. I guess it will be a question of getting used to and then over time you will know what key performs what task on the BB. This is a good comment and I hope others who are thinking of doing this are aware of this.
@wadhiamod Thanks so much for the quick response. I won't be looking around then to see if there's anything I can download. Ya, it's not for me, it's for my cousin, she just came from Korea and is staying in Canada for 9 months, so she had to get a phone. We ended up getting the Pearl because we noticed we could read and write Korean, but then after when we got home, we noticed it wasn't in the same order as the actual Korean keyboard. Am thinking about going back to get the full keyboard BB.
@wadhiamod Because yes you are right, the full size keyboard BB's do have the korean letters in order. Thanks so much for the response again I appreciate it! =)
@MATRIX7737 Yes I can do ot. It will cost you £8.99/-
Its through PayPal with a money back gaurentee if I cannot do it. Let me know what you want to do. Thanks. I will remotely log into your computer and do the job.
I'm planning on getting a blackberry because I now know it can have Japanese language so now if I get an e-mail from my cousin in Japan I can reply to it instead of waiting to get home and get on my computer to reply back
I wanted to know though, Can I get on Japanese websites through the mobile internet and it won't appear as blocks?
@HeyTakashi It fully works as long as you have a US carrier that has international BB software support (multi-language east asia language). The following carriers in the US support BB international software load: Verizon, Sprint, T-Mobile, AT&T.
nvm :) i got the language pack... and i did everything the exact same thing from the video but it doesnt show up on my blackberry desktop manager what do i do now then?
@bokrischo What is your BB Model. If it is 9700 then you have to downgrade your OS to get the Asian pack working. See the below posts. You can go to my website & in the wiki option look for Installing East Asian Language on the BB and in that page you will also get the download link for the language pack as per each carrier.
@bokrischo I have a Curve 8530 and here is what I did:
- I'm from Canada, using Curve 8530 with Fido, Running OS 5.0.0.9 on my phone and Device Manager 6.0.1(all the latest). Than I downloaded the East Asia pack from...I don't remember, but the file is originally named "8520wifiM_PBr5.0.0_rel1682_PL5.2.0.104_A5.0.0.1036_Vodafone_DE.exe" it's from vodafone, you should be able to find it on google. Run Device manager, connect my phone, applications. and Tada~
@papercut1987 Tada~ I was able to see East Asian languages ready to be added, so I added them and "ok". After about 5-10 mins, alot of reboot and install..it was ready to read chinese with no prob :)
A special note : I only download the East asia pack, I didn't even install it....I didn't really understand why my software was able to see it, but hey~ who cares, my curve can read chinese and japanese and korean now :D How this helped you : )
@wadhiamod i downloaded the thing but it deleted my whole bbm .. i got scared and all .. but then i downloaded it again and all ... anywayz can you plz send me a link so it can be easy for me.
@onewluvsfriedchicken Based on the experience of some of the users here, you will need to downgrade the OS for the language pack to be recognised. Please read the other posts for more info.
@twilightnaga It seems to be a known issue with the 9700. I am currently evaluating this and will come back t o you shortly. Some other users have indicated a similar issue. Its quite possible that RIM might have tweeked something & I am running a simulation to get a solution. In the meanwhile if you get a breakthrough, I would be glad if you update it here as well. i found out the problem i had was that i had to downgrade my bb to install chinese on it. when i did this, i could type chinese, but my bb's software was not good. it worked fine, but looked weird, and the formatting was off.
i did everything you said, but my bb desktop manager does not pick up the east asian language pack i have downloaded. when i try to make it find it through "browse", it says that the file is not compatible with my bb.
im sure ive downloaded for the correct bb (bold 9700)
does it matter which service provider i download from? because the one im trying right now is from my service provider, but if i need to download another pack, where can i get it from?
@dlht114 Well, you seem to have done all right. It is strange that the desktop manager is not detecting the EA version. You can download from any provider as long as they support that handset. Just a quick Q- are you also installing the device software once you have downloaded the software on the PC? It needs to be installed on the PC before you can ask desktop manager to detect it.
i found out the problem i had was that i had to downgrade my bb to install chinese on it. when i did this, i could type chinese, but my bb's software was not good. it worked fine, but looked weird, and the formatting was off.
do you know a language pack which is up-to-date that i could download? like a particular version? so i dont have to downgrade my bb...
@dlht114 Good to know that. There are a few others with a similar issue. This will be a good update for the others as well.
As regards getting a dedicated language pack....you are really dependant on RIM. As the 9700 & 9800 both are relatively new phones with new OS as well, resources that are available are quite limited. So the simple answer is NO!
But I am on the look out and as soon as I get some new info I will post it to my channel. Good thing would be to subscribe to the channel. Thanks.
@wadhiamod hey guys, i had the same problem: whereby i did everything but the software wasn't loacted by the desktop manager. following these instructions solved my problem! best
1. Download the package as said before by wadhiamoid.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml." Vista/Win7 users: In the apploader folder, simply click on "Compatibility files" to see the actual Vendor.xml file. Once you've got that - simply delete the vendor.xml file there.
3.Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as vendor.xm

I have a blackberry 9700 model and I've been trying to apply east asian pack from the blackberry software website but I keep getting the all language pack instead. I have tried to install a multipack language pack for another model for the phone but it still overload as all language pack. How can I install the east asian pack onto my mobile?
@kunmeister If you install a multi language that will not give you any east asian languages. You need to install the device software that says East Asian against it. If you cant find that for your device then you really cant do anything. THE DEVICE SOFTWARE SHUD CATAGORICALLY SAY -EAST ASIAN!.
@wadhiamod can I not even download an older version of another model's software and install the east asian language pack there? Because I definitely can't find any east asian language pack for blackberry 9700.
@sillymonkay888 I have not seen a device software that says east asian for the Torch. The only network that is doing this device in south east asian is an Australian based network & they do not have an east asian device software for this phone. You might search the BB help pages as O think they have a language pack that you can install for this phone. I dont know what is the doc no. If I find it I will post it.
@Akaichen I have posted the link as a comment on your channel. From the link you need to choose an east asian provider & from their choose the device software that says east asian in brackets.
thank you! now this method seems to work! i still got a question: how do i update my bb device software? if i do it as bb desktop manager recommends, the east asia pack gets replaced by the multilang pack again and i lose all my asian characters support. then i have to downgrade my device again...
@sascorp Great to know that this works for you. Yes I know what you men. This will be a problem. You cannot update. The reason is your desktop manager get the device software based on your country location/ip address, so you will always have this problem. If you really must update then you can look for a new device software update from east asian providers and then manually do it. You can also turn off the update service in DM.
this seems to be not working with the new blackberry desktop software? it does not detect the languagepack that i installed (east asia) for blackberry 9700
I get the complete list: * Chinese Pinyin * Chinese WoBoMoFo? * Chinese WubiHua? * Chinese Stroke * Chinese Simplified CangJei? * Chinese Jyutping * Chinese Traditional CangJei? * Japanese Romaji * Korean * Thai MINUS Japanese Romaji. It's the only one missing, and the only one I want. Any ideas?
i did the same. installed japanese font support and input method. can read japanese but cannot write/input japanese. it does not appear as an option in the language settings.
Downloaded East Asian pack, installed it. Opened DM. Was NOT asked anything about "choose operating system". Saw nothing of the Asian languages. What am I doing wrong? I want to see Thai characters in Navita translator. Thanks
hello, i have downloaded the east asian language pack, have installed it, but when it comes to the desktop manager it doesnt appear... what have i done wrong? thank you so much for your attention!
Hi, Once you have installed the east asian device software on your PC, you start the DM and it will ask you to choose the operating system. You should know which one is the east asian OS and choose that

do you know a language pack which is up-to-date that i could download? like a particular version? so i dont have to downgrade my bb...
thanks again! and thanks for your reply

I have a blackberry 9700 model and I've been trying to apply east asian pack from the blackberry software website but I keep getting the all language pack instead. I have tried to install a multipack language pack for another model for the phone but it still overload as all language pack. How can I install the east asian pack onto my mobile?
kunmeister 1 year ago
@kunmeister If you install a multi language that will not give you any east asian languages. You need to install the device software that says East Asian against it. If you cant find that for your device then you really cant do anything. THE DEVICE SOFTWARE SHUD CATAGORICALLY SAY -EAST ASIAN!.

@wadhiamod can I not even download an older version of another model's software and install the east asian language pack there? Because I definitely can't find any east asian language pack for blackberry 9700.

is this available for the torch 9800?
sillymonkay888 1 year ago
@sillymonkay888 I have not seen a device software that says east asian for the Torch. The only network that is doing this device in south east asian is an Australian based network & they do not have an east asian device software for this phone. You might search the BB help pages as O think they have a language pack that you can install for this phone. I dont know what is the doc no. If I find it I will post it.

@Akaichen I have posted the link as a comment on your channel. From the link you need to choose an east asian provider & from their choose the device software that says east asian in brackets.

thank you! now this method seems to work! i still got a question: how do i update my bb device software? if i do it as bb desktop manager recommends, the east asia pack gets replaced by the multilang pack again and i lose all my asian characters support. then i have to downgrade my device again...
sascorp 1 year ago
@sascorp Great to know that this works for you. Yes I know what you men. This will be a problem. You cannot update. The reason is your desktop manager get the device software based on your country location/ip address, so you will always have this problem. If you really must update then you can look for a new device software update from east asian providers and then manually do it. You can also turn off the update service in DM.

this seems to be not working with the new blackberry desktop software? it does not detect the languagepack that i installed (east asia) for blackberry 9700

@sascorp Thanks for pointing that out. We will run a test and come back on this shortly

Hi, Once you have installed the east asian device software on your PC, you start the DM and it will ask you to choose the operating system. You should know which one is the east asian OS and choose that
