Actually, if I remember right, Mowgli was actually immune to Kaa's hypnosis. Here, he falls immediately under the effects.

From what I have seen on the history channel's "Monster quest" they said Snakes will eat their victim head first. but even the largest snakes the pythons and Anacondas, could kill a human but couldn't swollow a human. They can streach thier jaws wide but not wide enough to get past the shoulders. at best they may get a person's head in thier mouth. but that is all.
