when looking to buy a house in the future after viewing it go around to the neighbors houses and ask them about the history of the house offer them $10-$20 for their troubles if they take the money you have made a good impression on them and if they dont take it you know you are living around some pretty good folks and will find facts that a realtor or seller wouldnt give you.
is there a way to change the situation that such a flood can never happen again?
so like making a lower place nearby, like a giant underground pit so the water goes there. And put a pump in there that pumps the water to jet another place?
watched all your flooding videos and I'm so sorry to see you and your family has to deal with this.
I wonder if you can find out what insurance company the previous owner insured the home with and then find (and get copies) of any homeowner claims he made while living there, especially as it pertained to flooding. that might help build an even stronger case against the previous homeowner.
it looks like your house is a higher elavation than is the street so basically I'd say the water that's suppossed to be drained away from the roadway is gushin' into your property.. good luck Steve, and don't let the Ins. Co. tell you about the "act of God" clause..
I HATE to hear when good folk like you and yours have stuff like this happen. I am praying for you and yours, brother. This is lousy timing to have such a thing happen. I pray The Lord bless you all abundantly and keep you protected, healthy and well informed.
I did use a private inspector but they cant see thru walls, nor find all problems & I did due diligence.
BTW I was a real estate investor who has worked on 60 homes, so I am no noob to this. The problem is sometimes ppl lie and there is nothing to be done till after the damage is done.
It's not safe to own any property now. The Govt. and those lawyers can take it at any time if they choose. The guy with the most money wins in the end.

It doesn't matter if he's old or not. If he lied, he lied and he needs to be held accountable for that.

how many inches of rain did you get? one day a 12-15" storm will come.
llshamelessll 2 years ago
I think the paper said about 1-3" and yes worse storms will come.
Again if the seller had told the truth we would have never bought a repeat flooding house.

I've never been one of those!
"For by grace are ye saved throught faith;and that not of yourselves:it is the gift of God:not of works, lest any man should boast." Ephesians 2:8,9.

that's why I hire a private inspector (besides the bank inspector) to survey the land before I purchase property or any sort.

What a shame this whole situation is. It sounds like this happens often enough to make the house almost unliveable.
