just might give you out mileage on these, drax, but your diesel better have, in order to even come close to "back seat betty" 500+ horsepower and torque out of the box. you dont mess with a 13.5:1, dual quad, 413 max wedge v8, especially in a car that doesnt wiegh a ton. the car it came in, a 3,400 pound coupe, would do mid 12 seconds with the SHITTY cheater slicks of the day.......AND, friend, if you take the turbo off your diesel, run it on only motor, how far down is it?. THIS IS BONE STOCK!

seeing as your so into modern cars, i think i can now understand why you think your diesel, with less than 200 horse and torque, will out power these. when we look at the brown tudor sedan, and see the valve covers saying "413 super stock" you must still be thinking thats LITERS OF DISPLACEMENT. sorry ta say bud, but your wrong. if these motors were rated in liters, theyd be 6.9 v8s, with a FACTORY 400+ hp and 500+ pound feet of torque.

For starters, rat rods are influenced by the Biker, Greaser, Punk, and Rockabilly cultures. Not "hill billy"..

Secondly, they are NOT death traps. Back in "the day", they would have been considered some of the safest vehicles on the roads because the whole idea behind a rat rod is function over form. They were meant to be driven, Not shown off. And they look like a piece of shit because how they were meant to look, Unfinished, thrown together, bare essentials only, and so on..

Art cars are a varied category of customized cars. There are over 900 in the US now. Many have been in Guiness book, Ripley's, on Monster Garage, etc. We've shipped them from US to big auto shows in Japan, England, Germany. Art cars are not all goofy, but most are fun, I think that's the point.

We building a R/R a 39 Plymouth 5 window coupe tray back made from a 4 door sedan 1970 Holden V8 with a HT Holden subframe.We replaced the original X section and made it flat to house the flat floor, 3'' roof chop, new rear spring hangers and leaf springs,the front guards are lengthened 1936 Dodge.

Y'know, it's funny... one of the best-looking 'rats I've seen had the grille off of a '39 Case model S. I don't see anything wrong with using tractor sheetmetal on a rat. Hell... they had some pretty sweet style back in those days!
