  • @clake10000 The movie's actually not that good, but this scene makes up for it.

  • How cool is that?

  • 4:02 insane

  • Why would one have to be patiend because the first half is music!

    It's excellent :)

  • DAMN! ultimate swing dancing, look at them acrobatic moves .. great .

  • OMG at 4:05... AMAZING!!!

  • If a couple broke into this at a modern dance (ie, a high school homecoming), people would be very frightened.

  • This is even better than "the Artist" :P

  • My grandparents used to do this being granny is 85 and grandad is 86 in they 20's he told me everyone wanted to partner with her, its easy to throw small people lol she was the best

  • THE LINDY HOP. one of the best african american dancing expressions ever, and this was one of the best dance scene in hollywood history, norma miller was only 16 when she did this.

  • @blackimpressions Um, Norma Miller was born in 1919, so she was 20 or 21 when they filmed this. She joined Whitey's Lindy Hoppers when she was 16.

  • The start of breakdancing.

  • @HuggiMa

i was thinking the same thing. reminds of what 'les twins' are doing right now.

  • @HuggiMa Look up the Nicholas Brothers and the Berry Brothers to see where breakdancing comes from. ;-)

  • It's like using ladies as morningstars. SWING DANCE FIGHT.

  • "White Bead" DUZ NOT Mean White People, IT Mean`s Up-Tite Stiff SNOOTY or Upper Crust type & NOT the Color of There Skin ! WAY OLD JAZZ Slang....Mac VOUTY

  • neat n_n

  • oh my god lol

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA THIS SHIT IS SO FUCKING TRIPPY!!

  • Black/White... Who gives a rat's ass? I'm not supposed to like it because they are black? Pffff! As if a white couple could do THAT DANCING BETTER? I'm sorry but I DON'T THINK SO! Just enjoy the damn thing, people. Can't we all just get along? Geez! AWESOME dancing. I'm downloading the movie right now! I want MORE!

  • Urge to play Fallout rising...

  • LOL! You folks still talking about "white/black" ("race") are still living in the Middle Ages. There's no such thing as "race". Don't you know the latest genetic research which shows that ALL of us, no matter when you live or came from on this planet, have the original mutation on our genes from our origins in and migration from Africa? We're all originally Africans...It's just that some of us are lighter than others (adaptation to environment). Welcome to the...ummm...HUMAN RACE! :)

  • @Astoriaguy23 Black folks are awesome. Man this world would be such a bore without us. Yeah these are the original people. Of course there are many genetic mutations.

  • This is fabulous! ("Jimmy Stewart"?? Jimmy Stewart's not in this video.)

  • IF it were an "Olympic Event" the USA would take the GOLD every Time ! Can White-Bread Dance ?

  • @dukeuke1 Yes, "white-bread" can dance. I'm half white, and my white father can dance just as well as anyone on my mom's side of the family. Dancing is colorblind; yall should be, too.

  • hahaha, my favorite part is the ass-kick at 4:20. this video is epic

  • Wow.. This is by far the best dance routine I've ever seen lol. XD

  • @Witherwings790 Says the person that can't dance.

  • Jimmy Stewart "Too bad they're not in the show." What he meant to say was "Too bad they're black and are way too busy washing my socks to be in the show."

  • Hearing the music come together put a big ol smile on my face. Then the dancin part I was literally like this the whole time (0_0)

    awesome!!

  • @LaRosaBonita7 I thought I might be able to do this routine (I heard about it) and then I watched it.. and I just went.. "ok I would break this bone, and that and also dislocate very OFTEN)...

  • i think its amazing that in such an era of sadness these ppl still found ways to have fun and enjoy themselves. totally awesome

  • Looks like fun making the hard look easy. The zone!

  • 3:50 hurricane kick 40 years before street fighter. This video is awesome, one of my favorites parts in the whole movie

  • Well, there goes all my self esteem as a swing dancer...

  • @AdventureGirl2011 You can get it back. Just need to learn Lindy Hop!

  • If I can learn to do even a quarter of this routine, my life will have had meaning.

  • they are doooooope, so amaizing

    the best,

  • Looks positively painful! LOVE IT!!

  • isnt this the lindy hop?

  • @Nimosayshi yes

  • One of the greatest lindy hop sceane EVER!

  • @stdepi Frankie Manning (the dancer in the overalls) was considered the father of Lindy Hop and died not too long ago in 2009 right before his 95th Birthday. Every year for his birthday, there was a large celebration with Lindy Hop dancers from all over the world who would come dance in honor of him, and every birthday they would surround him in a circle for a song, and he would dance with as many women as how many years old he was. Thank you, Frankie Manning, for giving us such a wonderful gift

  • WHAAAAAAAAAT?!?!?!?! Everything about this clip is awesome!

  • And then they created DDR (Dance Dance Revolution)

  • Comment removed

  • Love it!

  • Black people be drinking their milk!

  • blah blah, it's a dance video, who ever brought up these comments are insecure with themselves and still have guilt from their ancestors...BLACK PEOPLE DOING THE DAMN THING IS ALL U HAVE TO SAY IN THIS VIDE...DAMN! SMH

  • loved it!

  • Now that is some dancing. We have become horrible dancers now a days.

  • @shadowgouhl5000 you're hanging out in the wrong dance scenes then. there's groups in almost every major city that get together and swing dance twice a week or so. maybe not this fast(it takes years to do that), but you can still learn to dance like this.

  • damn dont miss a move or somebody's gonna frikin die. POW

  • woah. this is so fascinating!

  • holy shit

    that was ridiculous

  • stupid us! ( modern people ), trying to recreate this wonder of that time....no way!

  • one word, Wow!!! :)

  • The only people that dislike this video are the people who attempted these dance moves and broke their bones! XD

  • @phophjoph Yeah, wonder if there were any broken bones in the making of this scene :D

  • To this day, the best swing dancers cannot even come close to this level of skill.

  • @banewulfe Have you seen my videos? :-)

  • 'be patient though, the first half is music.'? WTF

  • @beanabus77 The dancing doesn't start till half way through the song.

  • @lindyhop411 You can listen to music as well as dance to it. The dancing is amazing. So is the music.

  • I don't know how many times during the video I said "What."

  • this has to be the coolest things i've ever seen

  • These men and women would be in their nineties now and great-grandparents. How amazing would it be if your great-grandmother danced like that in her day? WOW.

  • @stdepi If only people were this genuinely awesome these days.. nothing is original anymore. :(

  • @stdepi, my grandmother did dance to music like this. and she told me they would dance non-stop all night.

    the greatest generation.

  • This is very very cool

  • Just unbelievable.!!! I love this !!!!!!!

  • OmG... Some Figures i are so awesome that i cant believe that its true.... LOL

  • i look at black musicians back then and now and i ask myself how the hell could there be so much racism back then, with so much talent and good people?

  • @8Maik Yeah I know I am sorry to say black people have talent now but they truly had a huge amount of Natural talent back then!

  • @IamDottieDandridge its because all of the natural talented people back then actually had a heart for it and loved what they did.

  • best thing ive ever seen in my life!

  • I Lyndy hop and I never get tired watching Frankie dancing he's is just the greatest.

I also had the chance to take a workshop with him I wasin heaven .)

RIP FRANKIE MANNING THE LINDYHOP AMBASSADOR

  • *jawdrop*

  • Damn, i'm having a heart attack just watching them!

  • Yeah, it was good. DANG good.

But the thing about this is - it's choreographed.

Any n00b can do this with enough practice.

The TRUE pros are the ones who come up with equally - if not MORE - dazzling performances impromptu.

  • @LongLiveLink3 Care to name any? :)

  • @LuthienMoonLight Look up Max Pitruzzella and Annie Trudeau

  • @lindyhop411 I'm glad you do know some excellent dancers, Kevin and Jo are great too, as are Skye and Frida. :) (Not to mention a ton of others)

  • @lindyhop411 Although, between you and me, I like Dax and Sarah the most!

  • @LongLiveLink3 Choreographed is a very loose term here. Yes it's a routine they practiced a lot for this performance, but Whitey's Lindy Hoppers basically took what they were doing on the dance floor and in jam circles and put it into this routine.

  • @LongLiveLink3 Yeah, it's pretty obvious that you're no dancer. It doesn't matter how much they practice, you're not going to pull some random schlub off the street and teach them how to move like this. Dancing requires years of discipline, physical conditioning and intelligence that an average person does not possess. Contrary to what your mother taught you, you CAN'T do anything you put your mind to if you don't possess the necessary talents to make it possible.

  • Why does everyone always have to pull the race card? I'm not a big fan of racism, or reverse racism either... And clearly people need to do their research more....

  • That Kicked Ass,

  • that was fucking awesome

  • Yooo. They was goin at it. Awesome

  • These were truly DANCERS! They made everything look effortless! I need to learn a few moves from them lol

  • @Placed1rst You're in luck! Lindy Hop is very much still popular today. Just try searching your city/state and "Lindy Hop" and see what pops up!

  • 3:16 my new sex position. Lmao

  • sigh* why is every video with any black person in it. has to have at least 1 racist comment, and always from some white guy who would never say it in anyone's face. This isn't the 1960's, no more peaceful marching. WE WILL FIGHT BACK.

  • @MajesticRootZ I was quite surprised to find racist comments from both sides (black and white) here. You'd think people would have moved on by now, but it is the internet. People are able to say what they want without being held accountable.

  • the Birth of Bboying & BGirling! I love this vid! great post!

    "679"

  • Its funny how society likes to put down blacks in every way, but we're the most talented and blessed.

    Hmmmm.

  • @mrcritic1 word

  • @mrcritic1 Hey, that's racist!

  • @mrcritic1 keep your racist opinions to yourself!

  • @NatashaMaryWard Truth hurts, darling.

  • @mrcritic1 I'm afraid it's not the truth, get a life perhaps? People are equal in every way regardless of race. You're being stereotypical and racist.

  • @NatashaMaryWard The person that replied my comment within minutes, obviously showing that they spend most of their time on youtube, is asking me to get a life?

    Hahahaha. #FAIL

"People are equal in every way, regardless of race".

Ok then, if thats what get you to sleep at night.. Go with it.

  • @mrcritic1 "The most talented and blessed"? I think the world would be a lot better off if people such as yourself accepted that their is talent and blessing from all social groups, African, Asian or Caucasian. Talent has no genetic link, you are just as bad saying that as any white eugenics believer.

  • @MacSweenz Im sure the world would have been a whole lot better if most white people were wiped off the face of the earth.

But alas, I dont have the ability to change history. Dang!

  • @mrcritic1 its a shame people such as yourself as exist.

  • @MacSweenz Its a shame 90% of white people still exist.

If only that could be changed.

    Hmmmmm.

  • @mrcritic1 90%? Is there a holy 10% of white people who still fit in to your plans of racial culling? What an idiot haha

  • @MacSweenz Simple mathematics would answer that question for you.

    And im the idiot.

    Go to sleep.

  • @mrcritic1 I'm asking you what the significance of the 10% you're leaving alive is......

Though trying to find any logic in a racist is a fruitless endeavour. You want white people gone because of the racism imposed upon black people throughout the times, yet your own racism obscures your ability to understand that it is counter productive to wish death on a group of people simply because of their skin tone.

  • @MacSweenz If, looking back at our history, 90% of whites were destroyed dont you honestly think the world would have turned out a whole better? Atleast be honest about that.

The 10% are the whites that are not racist from the core up. I think 10% is abit generous, but hey!, im a nice guy.

I dont see how removing a sly, greedy, manipulative, evil, thieving, murderous group of people, at a larger scale than others, from the earth in anything but productive.

    But please, enlighten me.

  • @mrcritic1 Aite basically I think youre blending two fundamentally different principles, i.e. being evil and being white. White people have committed atrocities against black people i agree, but if you have done any study on the 'black struggle', you will find that oppression usually comes out of economic oppression; slavery itself was an early product of capitalism (as seen in the triangular trade). You should be blaming capitalism moreso than white people.

  • @MacSweenz Also, youre forgetting that white people are also responsible for lots of positive cultural progression as well as black people; you shouldnt consider black people exempt from negativity. Evil is a product of environmental and social constrictions, NOT the colour of your skin. One thing I haven't pointed out is that whilst I am white, I would not be who I am if it wasnt for the influence of black culture as well as white. You're in danger of homogenizing black and white too much.

  • @MacSweenz Ofcourse no race has a monopoly on evil , but you gotta admit , whites are in the running.

  • @MacSweenz In the same swing, no ones denying the evil things black people have done. That would be an idiotic thing to do. Thats why i picked my words carefully.

I truly find it hard to believe that evil is the product of enviro/social constrictions. What enviro/social constriction would lead a man to hang a fellow man? Or calculatedly wipeout a huge chunk of races? Or twist the law to favour himself & detest others? Or... Once again, i could go on.

  • @mrcritic1 If evil isnt a product of the environment then what hope is there for us to progress? In fact if evil was not a product of the environment then why did JFK pass the Civil Rights Act in the 60s. I think humans naturally want to be superior and dominate other things eg. animals, and when cultures encounter news ones then they want to control them for their own purposes. If blacks had traveled to europe first its conceivable the same thing couldve happened to whites.

  • @MacSweenz "If blacks had traveled to europe first its conceivable the same thing couldve happened to whites"

This is nothing more but an excuse that whites use to in-excuse their passed (and continued) transgressions on the worlds non whites. Hundreds of years ago the chinese came into contact with non whites but you dont see the level of violence and barbarity against non chinese. There are also numerous of other examples.

  • @BlacknesUnforgivable What are the numerous other examples? The chinese example you have levelled at me is not proof that white people are inherently racist, it is one example that could have had numerous factors which stopped such a 'level of violence and barbarity'. You also need to take into account the deep socio-economic exploitation of blacks by blacks on the west coast in the 16/17th century. The establishment of many african kingdoms there resulted from the systematic rounding up and

  • @MacSweenz Want more examples? The Arabs for instance. They were enslaving Sub Saharan Africans centuries before Europeans even stepped foot on the African continent and yet , they enslaved ALL PEOPLES (europeans, turks, jews, berbers, and even other arabs). They didnt declare war on a whole race by exclaiming that peoples on that race can only be slaves (like the europeans did to the africans).

  • @BlacknesUnforgivable (continued...) enslaving of other africans in order to access resources that white slave traders sold, allowing them to exert power over other tribes in surrounding areas and in central africa. Humans naturally look to control and exert power over others. I think its unbelievable that you would suggest that white people are the only ones who would possibly do such a thing, plenty of cultures have treated others with barbarity, just not on the same micro-structured level

  • @MacSweenz Africans enslaved other Africans , so what? Slavery goes back to antiquity and was practiced by virtually everybody. What DOSENT go back to antiquity, however, is chattle enslavement (something whites implemented on blacks).African brand of slavery was nothing like the European brand.Slaves wernt slaves for life. One could buy his freedom. One's culture wasnt destroyed. Etc etc Even the arab brand was slavery was more humane than that of the Europeans.

  • @MacSweenz It is unbelievable that you would suggest that Africans (or anybody else) would have "done the same" to whites had they been the ones to sail to Europe first lollol typical cop out.

  • @MacSweenz (continued) Read "Iceman Inheritance : Prehistoric Sources of Western Man's Racism, Sexism and Aggression"

  • @mrcritic1 See how your own argument has progressed into a far more rational, coherent one? Don't get so carried away and make such reactionary statements to make an impact; you now come across as someone who is approaching the point rationally and intelligently. I have enough faith in humanity to think that white people arent evil, but that there are evil people who created racism to justify their own economic and status-based desires. Whites as a whole dont desire to control blacks.

  • @MacSweenz I could blame capitalisim, but all you have to do is move aside the curtain of capitalism & what race do you find behind it?

Economic oppression? Is that from the AA pov, or America in general. Because ive never known a "poor" whiteman stop being racist when he's "rich" & viceversa.

The evil caused by the whiteman doesnt start/end at just America. We have Asia/Africa/Australia/New Z. I could go on.

No ones denying the legit "good" things that white ppl have done, Legit. Good. Things.

  • @mrcritic1 Well said. And, I might add, very generous considering all the havoc pink/ "white" people have wrought on the Divine's beautiful planet Earth. The affliction blacks are under in USA is part of curses of Israel during their final exile which was OFF the continent of Africa. It's almost over. Surely U know that the trans-Atlantic slave trade was the final dispersion of the Jews; the Creator said they would be afflicted 400 years in a strange land=USA/Mystery Babylon. Shalom.

  • @mrcritic1 I'm not Black, but I agree. Blacks have always seem to be ahead of their time in terms of leading the music industry and culture. Something Blacks bring into the mix won't be exploited and overplayed till years later. Blacks tend to evolve America's music from one genre to another and often create new genre's of music that most of the other races follow for the next years to come, but initially not accepted till exploited and by then Blacks have moved on to evolve another genre.

  • @mrcritic1

Statistics show ur not the most blessed ;) but for the rest, i love the coloured men that made jazz and blues :) way better then the saggy white ones ;)

  • @MaltWisky History shows that you are the most violent evil people to ever walk this earth

  • @MaltWisky Elaborate please.

  • @mrcritic1 hahaha no good sir no.

  • The accumulated talent here is mind-boggling.I have heard gthat Hollywood got some of the best in the world to perform on screen but this troupe of dancers is beyond the best. I can't imagine how they managed to have these superb professional dancers together at one time. The preparation needed to pull this amazing performance off had to be of the strictest discipline and for a good while. Excellence in perfomance and here for us to appreciate today. Great video.

  • Some were never tied to life so tied down as others that they knew free MEANS free God love them they keep us alive and so great the combo is of us all and aways will be :)

    _/ said that

  • This is THE best dance scene I've ever seen from a movie, fer sure!

  • The black man's dance

  • remember breakdance fighting from zoolander? this is like that.. but swing dance fighting

  • there is nothing CG about that, lol

  • You can totally tell it's CG.

  • @Tasukeru Quit yer trollin'.

  • the blacks slacking again,lol

  • I'm pretty sure most of them are secretly master of judo :P

  • The original swing!

  • I think I just came up with some new pro-wrestling moves.

  • Dam what kind of sex must these people be having O-O

  • Great!!! Also besides being physical, there's a lot of Math going on here. Example: how many steps does it take between girl meeting Guy, then Guy throwing girl, girl rebounds and guys catches girl. And the spinning, if you didn't calculate correctly, you got hit in the head, lights out baby!

  • @tpss123 What a square explanation of the concept of rhythm.

  • This is by far one of the most incredible things i've ever seen. So much soul. Oh how times have changed.

  • (Not trying to be racist... yeah yeah, I know, it's not going very well)

Back then, every black man knew haw to pick up an instrument and swing.

  • @Escereon

you don't sound racist, but you are making a generalization, because you said "Back then, EVERY black man knew how to pick up an instrument and swing". That's very untrue, especially when you say, every.

  • @withthemostcake Geez, it was a joke. Notice how every black man in the video could swing or play an instrument...

  • They gettin a lil to crazy.

  • These folks were obviously in amazing shape to be able to pull this off. So few "dancers" today can come even close to this.

  • Yes I'm black and I rap but I'm so glad blacks brought America away from compositional music, they brought emotion and feeling into music. I love the blues and jazz. Through music blacks expressed themselves and America learned to express themselves as well. The beat generation, hippies and all the other counter culturalism movements after the liberation of blacks were caused mainly from the influence of music, it literally change America! Blacks play a huge role on why America is America today!

  • @jrmckamey There was no American music before the Africans. Most of it was imported music from Europe

  • @BlacknesUnforgivable Well, you're arguing a different point, but I'll answer you this: What you just said contradicts itself. If there was no American music before Africans arrived, because it was imported from Europe, then the music you're referring to was simply imported from Africa. Following your line of logic, there can't be American music from either of these two people groups. What I'm trying to say is that different cultures have different music, and all can be expressive and legit.

  • Comment removed

  • @jrmckamey No , you are wrong. The first music that you could have called truly american was probably the spirituals of slaves , who combined the christian religion and their African ways of singing and praise.

Prior to the 20th century , most of the of the music that whites listened to was imported from europe for the white american elite (classical and Opera's). Music that you can truly call "American music" must be created in America , not elsewhere.

  • @BlacknesUnforgivable The Native Americans, the English, the Spanish, the French, and the Portuguese were all living in the Americas at, or before, the arrival of the Africans. These different cultures all lived, and created music during the settlement of what was to become the United States. Your belittlement of these other people is extremely ethnocentric, bordering on racism. Music naturally comes out of culture, and I sincerely hope you learn to tolerate other cultures.

  • @jrmckamey Maybe the natives, but the whites?Sorry , prior to the Africans , everything here was European. The irish imported their songs. The english imported their songs and so on.For a truly american music to have been created you would of had to have lost your culture ( or have it stripped from you like the case with the Africans) and would of had to take remnants of it and create a whole new one

  • @jrmckamey No belittlement at all on my end. Im just looking at reality here.

  • @BlacknesUnforgivable "...but the whites?" Who's talking about whites? "Maybe the natives..." As in, maybe the "natives" created music, or maybe they didn't? You give away your racist attitude here by generalizing "whites" as if being white were a culture. You also refuse to admit that's you're wrong, even though you know that Native Americans were here before anyone, and you know that they created music. "Im just looking at reality here." What reality do you live in? Is it the same one as I?

  • @jrmckamey Who said that natives wernt here before everybody else?

  • @BlacknesUnforgivable If you're talking about reality, then we should talk about the Bay Psalm book which was composed and published in Massachusetts Bay in 1640. That's five generations before before the United States of America even existed. The reality, which we all live in, is that cultures naturally make music. And the American Cultures, even before we became the United States, were all CREATING music. The idea that people imported music is quite silly, really.

  • @jrmckamey

The book you've mentioned is nothing but a compilation of palms that early settlers brought with them from EUROPE , so how is that AMERICAN music?
