TM Krishna is the cream of the cream among Carnatic classical vocalists today. His technique and musical sensibilities are so phenomenal as to be almost superhuman.
There are singers who have flawless structure like Semmangudi, singers with speed and power like GNB, singers with complexity and intelligence like Seshagopalan, and singers who rule on neraval and RagamTanamPallavi like KV Narayanaswami, but TM Krishna combines ALL their strengths with astonishing precision.
@GCLwins I dont think TMK has GNB's power of speed. He stretches a lot of his music in songs. If you listen to GNB, all of his music is very fast paced.
@TheCarnaticmusician - Yes GNB had exceptional speed, but by some accounts that also led to a loss of shruthi in his final years. TMK can bring exceptional speed when he wants to, but can just slow it down drastically in some ragas like Neelambari (Amba Neelayadhakshi) to achieve exactly the opposite effect. His control is quite remarkable.
WOW!!! This raaga aalapana of Bhairavi is absolutely wonderful. TM Krishna 's style is very appealing. He has brought out all of the typical sanchaaras of Bhairavi ragam beautifully. Bhairavi is a tough raagam to sing.
He came to melbuorne last year, and thoh i havent been to many carnatic concerts, his was the best i'd been to. His voice has great depth, bhava and flexibility. I hardly felt the 3 hours pass and felt so sad when it ended! He's coming to Sydney in June and I can't wait! I really think he's one of the best out there!
love it. would you happen to know, I saw concert footage where as the singer sang, men, in a frenzy, would approach the stage and throw money in the air & at the stage. I am not sure if it was a Krishna concert?
I repect your point but personally, my all time favorite has to be GNB

He is probably unaware that there is a word called SOWKYAM in carnatic music.... Technically good though...
karthiksuresh2000 4 years ago
Do you know what is sowkhyam?
It was wholly present in his rendering.
Only very few intellectuals can relish it .
First, try to understand the essence of music.

ss8791 Very true that only few intellectuals can relish it. Unfortunately you dont belong to that few
