@amsternaitor That was a cover of National Geographic magazine in which it appears an Afghan girl, which years later the photograph team set out to find her.

Finding it, they wanted to photograph her again, but she refuses to remove the veil from her face due to a rule of their culture which could condemn her to death the break of that rule.

Over a few days, they (photograph team) could get a picture of her without the veil, avoid being punished.

@RichieChocolatte Her name is Sharbat Gula (Meaning: Fruit Drink Ice Ball) and the name of the photographer is Steve McCurry of NatGeo. And yes she survived the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan. She escaped to live in a refugee camp in Pakistan.

@ElTexas454 The worlds first photograph. Taken by Joseph Niepce, its a view from his window. It took 8 hours to expose which is why you can see a change in the lighing and shadows.
