I feel really bad for the parents who have to take care of their kids. You can't do much with an upset kid in a small, stuffy plane. I would go insane. This is ridiculous!
Hey budy i dont want to offend you i got to say this you guys are bunch of cows to sit in that palne on the ground for 7 fucking hours,i do not understand soo many people and noboys fucking create hell in that fucking airplane for them to take you guys back to the terminal and get you get food and drinks or another flight . its fucking amazing how you guys sit there.
About a year ago I got delayed for bout 6 hrs on a delta flight from LGA to Indy. We get on 5 min later we have 2 get off. 1/2 hr later we get back on and 5 more min later we get off again. 5 hrs later the planes fixed and we finally take off from LGA. Total nightmare.
A couple months ago my plane got delayed and I had to spend the night at the airport but it was kind of fun cuse me and my friend and girlfriend went on the tram thing alot of times ;)

We get on and 5 minutes later they tell us to get off cos of the battery. 1/2 hr later we get back on but 5 min later we have to go back again for the same reason. 5 hrs later we finally get on and take off.
It's not the airline. It's the airport! JFK is one of the most busiest airport. Any weather or mechanical will cause lengthy delays on the tarmac. Which puts the flight at risk of the crew timing out. Thus cancelling or delaying the flight. Correct paperwork is required for a purpose to avoid an accident or incident, everything must be properly documented. As a seasoned traveller, I would avoid JFK, EWR or LGA at all costs with its congested air traffic.
I have never personally had to deal with that, but I feel sorry for the people that DID have to deal with that....there are supposedly new laws that charge the affected airlines, as well as compensation for affected passengers. Also I agree with people that have expressed anger with Delta Airlines!
@PGMEagle actually, he could not have, at all. It is a 25 hour drive from NYC to Dallas, roughly 1550 miles. I am not defending DELTA, but in this case it would not be faster to drive. That is the problem with the statement "I'll just drive" it is often impractical. I live near Norfolk, and next planned trip is to San Diego, nearly 3000 miles away. Around 50 hours on the road, IF you could drive straight through.
i would never fly Delta if i lived in the U.S i would rather South-West airlines. firstly there cheaper and they will get u to your destination quicker :(

Lucky in the US, there is now a law that you can't hold passengers for more than 3 hours on the tarmac. Unfortunately we do not have that in the UK. In one recent story, police had to be called due to disruptive passengers after a plane was on the tarmac for several hours. They came laden with chocolate and water as the airline (i think it was ryanair (surprise!) refused to give out anything!
I'd be willing to bet that the chowderheads in congress wouldn't vote-down the "Passenger's Bill of Rights" if they had experienced something like this.

This is absolutely ludicrous. I'm going to try to take a different airline next time I fly - or if I have to take Delta, I'm taking shedloads of food in my carry-on. Incidentally when I was delayed on a previous Delta flight and it had to land at a different airport until the pilot didn't know when (seriously bad weather), they let us all get off the plane as long as we took our passports. I frighteningly nearly left (and thus nearly lost) mine and had to go back for it when we were reboarding.

I was stuck on a 3.5 hour delay in Tampa, Florida on the 28th of December Frost on the wing, had to melt via sun, we we we're given a movie to watch, got 2 drink services on the ground, and 1 more en-route to Atlanta, we watched Eat.Pray.Love. we we're supposed to depart at 620, didn't get into the air until around 10... we missed our connection, and had a 9 hour layover in Atlanta, and that was actually fun;; we got first class on our flight out of Atlanta, and it was actually really nice.
Next time just use your phone and call Delta. Tell them your situation and let them know you need to get off the plane immediately due to health issues. The company will contact JFK gate operations, then the crew of the flight, and bring the plane back to the gate. Then you are off the plane! If you just talk to the crew, they will not help you at all.

They lost my baggage twice. Every Delta Employee in ATL was useless and all but one was rude. The 2nd time my bag was lost was back home - FNT. I was told 3 hours. I returned in 5 hours. no clerk. The 800 number told me clerks were not answering the phone. I walked over the counter and went into the back room where I found one sleeping and one apparently finishing a nap-she was straightening her clothes and looking a bit stunned Delta's answer - 3,700 FF miles. If they aren't on Airtran no thx.

I was delayed at JFK for over 6.5 hours before the flight was canx. I had to sleep the floor at the airport. Delta stranded me in a foreign country and ignored my safety. I suffer with servere back, knee and hip problems and found this extreamly painful and unexceptable. My connection from Detroit to chicago was also delayed . My bag had been torn and items missing. The experience with Delta Air has been distressing and physically painful.
I spent 6 hours trapped in a Delta plane yesterday at Amsterdam Schipol. Once we were airborne for our 10 hour flight to Seattle, the crew and passengers took out their frustrations on one another. It was so very pleasant.
I would have faked a goddamn heart attack after three hours of that horseshit.
If I was the FA (even a disgruntled passenger), I would have opened up the door at 8pm (but first disengaged the chute, Mr. Slater), thrown my credit card to the ground crew, and said, "Get us 50 burgers, six pizza pies, two cases each of Coke, Diet Coke, and Sprite, and a few boxes of chocolate bars and put it on the card."
But knowing airlines, I would have been fired for spending the money, nevermind payback.

BRILLIANT!!
This situation is like being taken to jail and spending 10 hours in the holding cell. No food, no phone, and knowing you will face punishment if you try to leave. No one deserves that after spending $200-$400

I was stuck on a 3.5 hour delay in Tampa, Florida on the 28th of December Frost on the wing, had to melt via sun, we we we're given a movie to watch, got 2 drink services on the ground, and 1 more en-route to Atlanta, we watched Eat.Pray.Love. we we're supposed to depart at 620, didn't get into the air until around 10... we missed our connection, and had a 9 hour layover in Atlanta, and that was actually fun;; we got first class on our flight out of Atlanta, and it was actually really nice.

Next time just use your phone and call Delta. Tell them your situation and let them know you need to get off the plane immediately due to health issues. The company will contact JFK gate operations, then the crew of the flight, and bring the plane back to the gate. Then you are off the plane! If you just talk to the crew, they will not help you at all.

We will NEVER fly Delta again. Delta reps. in Detroit were absolutly no help on getting us another flight to Dayton Oh. after our flight was cancelled. We sat on the run way so long we had to refuel. Then they decided to cancell over 3 hours. Bunch of shit. We finally had to rent car to get to Dayton, They wanted us to wait THREE days at airport to get next flight. Drove in about 5 hours. DONT FLY DELTA

They lost my baggage twice. Every Delta Employee in ATL was useless and all but one was rude. The 2nd time my bag was lost was back home - FNT. I was told 3 hours. I returned in 5 hours. no clerk. The 800 number told me clerks were not answering the phone. I walked over the counter and went into the back room where I found one sleeping and one apparently finishing a nap-she was straightening her clothes and looking a bit stunned Delta's answer - 3,700 FF miles. If they aren't on Airtran no thx.

7 hours are way beyond aceptable, held inside the plane is even worse, without food. no way. In some countries it's law, no human can work 6 hours straight without pauses and a meal. You reach 6 hours, no matter what, you must stop and go to eat
not to mention the damages it may cause to your health staying sat down for such long time

I was delayed at JFK for over 6.5 hours before the flight was canx. I had to sleep the floor at the airport. Delta stranded me in a foreign country and ignored my safety. I suffer with servere back, knee and hip problems and found this extreamly painful and unexceptable. My connection from Detroit to chicago was also delayed . My bag had been torn and items missing. The experience with Delta Air has been distressing and physically painful.

I would have faked a goddamn heart attack after three hours of that horseshit.
If I was the FA (even a disgruntled passenger), I would have opened up the door at 8pm (but first disengaged the chute, Mr. Slater), thrown my credit card to the ground crew, and said, "Get us 50 burgers, six pizza pies, two cases each of Coke, Diet Coke, and Sprite, and a few boxes of chocolate bars and put it on the card."
But knowing airlines, I would have been fired for spending the money, nevermind payback.
