I can't stand elitist goths, I think it's silly. I refer to myself as a goth more often than not mostly because I wear black, even though I may not be wearing velvet or anything fancy, I'll mostly be in black. Also, I think it's important to feel comfortable in your own skin. After 10 years of dying my hair (red-black-blonde-black-red) I'm now reverting to my naturally hair colour (blonde) simply because I want to take better care of my hair. Screw anyone who says I need black hair to be goth.

I think that you should have posted this because people need to know and understand what you are doing with your videos. For me personally I'm just getting into the gothic subculture but you've helped me so far because I'm still learning obviously and I have a couple other people I'm learning from. I like your videos and think that you're helping people with finding out who they are.
I believe you were having a very mature attitude towards this attack, every person has the right to speak their minds, but always respecting other ways of thinking.
I keep noticing how mature you are for your age. You really did handle this wonderfully, and it's quite admirable. It really stinks that people will act like that and think it's ok because they're "building character," when there really is nothing at all ok about it and all they're doing is hurting someone.

im not goth, i am never going to be goth, i have no idea about goths. i came across this video and it really made me sad. because no matter who you are and what situation you are in, you should never personally attack an individual for being who they are. if there are flaws you see, then be civil and talk to them- never attack. this was just bullying and its pathetic. stuff like this is what leads to depression and suicide. just wow.

I don't think Gothic Fashion or Music is the most important part. It's more a mixture of all three, fashion, music, and lifestyle. There are people who like the music but aren't goth. Likewise with fashion, but there also people who aren't as fond of the music but are goth. Really there isn't any important part of goth that stands out as the most important. There really aren't rules to being goth so the mere fact that someone would criticize them for thinking or saying something is ridiculous.

For every goth there is another one who disagrees with that one's views and thoughts on goth. Often times both are kinda right. Goth is really a culture and part of being a culture is having lots of similarities, but many other differences. And as for music, it is the same thing. for every band we call "goth" there is another goth out there saying it isn't.

There are a lot of Goths that can be just as awful, if not worse, than "normal" people who heckle you for your appearance. Be who you are for yourself and no one else. Not for acceptance. I think youre beautiful and wonderful. I don't understand people who send out hate in to the world. I love goth music like Bauhuas, The Cure and Sisters of Mercy. Ive been listening to bands like Cinema Strange and Switchblade Symphony since I was like 15. I frequent goth clubs and concerts but my fav color is pink! Hi, I haven't been watching your videos for very long. But in the times I have I can safely say that you have been a very good inspirational goth person to me. Adding to that, I have also experienced a lot of inter-subculture bullying about what a subculture is, and isn't. Personally, I believe that a subculture is a phenomenon that has less to do with right and wrong and more to do with self-expression; there is no "absolute truth" in the matter, aside form the history of the culture. imho, The reason why subcultures like goth are dying, is because of people who bully newcomers and those still learning, making it less accessible and less welcoming.
If newcomers are being treated like crap, they are not going to want to stay in the subculture nor are they are going to have nice things to say about it.
I feel very proud that you handled it the way you did, and I'm glad everything is alright now. People take things way too seriously, and often tend to think for some reason that everyone on the internet that expresses an opinion think they are on expert on the subject, when in most cases, it is simply just someone expressing their educated opinion. In reality, it is simply just people projecting their own issues onto something harmless and normal, and reading into things too much, like you said.

It is okay to disagree with someone, and express that opinion, but people don't have to cross that line where they are harassing another person. If you find that they are wrong or going in the wrong direction, give them some constructive criticism, give them a hint, or ask them if they need help. I don't think Gothic Fashion or Music is the most important part. It's more a mixture of all three, fashion, music, and lifestyle. There are people who like the music but aren't goth. Likewise with fashion, but there also people who aren't as fond of the music but are goth. Really there isn't any important part of goth that stands out as the most important. There really aren't rules to being goth so the mere fact that someone would criticize them for thinking or saying something is ridiculous.

For every goth there is another one who disagrees with that one's views and thoughts on goth. Often times both are kinda right. Goth is really a culture and part of being a culture is having lots of similarities, but many other differences. And as for music, it is the same thing. for every band we call "goth" there is another goth out there saying it isn't.

Adding to that, I have also experienced a lot of inter-subculture bullying about what a subculture is, and isn't. Personally, I believe that a subculture is a phenomenon that has less to do with right and wrong and more to do with self-expression; there is no "absolute truth" in the matter, aside form the history of the culture. imho, The reason why subcultures like goth are dying, is because of people who bully newcomers and those still learning, making it less accessible and less welcoming.

People take things way too seriously, and often tend to think for some reason that everyone on the internet that expresses an opinion think they are on expert on the subject, when in most cases, it is simply just someone expressing their educated opinion. I want to say that I really enjoy your video. I may not agree with you 100%, but I know that it is okay.
It is okay to disagree with someone, and express that opinion, but people don't have to cross that line where they are harassing another person. If you find that they are wrong or going in the wrong direction, give them some constructive criticism, give them a hint, or ask them if they need help. Bullying them by making videos, pictures, posts, etc. is NOT the right thing to do.

Beyond personal taste and identity, I think these Deathrockets show a serious lack of human character because they weren't about teaching or constructive criticism. They were about cyberbullying. They say the subculture is dying, so I heard , then what is this type of behaviour for ? Euthanasia?

The group of people decided to go down the router of cyber bullying instead of taking the better route, which would of included giving constructive criticism, giving tips, giving her links to credible sites, etc. Why torture someone simply because of things taken out of context, facts that she got wrong, or disagreements on a topic?
I do like that some of the members did apologize, and to me that does show that not all of the members are horrible.

Sebastian, you are simply awesome! First of all, the way you handled this was really mature and I'm proud of you! I sincerely hope that people realize that goth is a very individual thing, if it get's to the point of, say, lolita for example (not hating on lolita, I still like the style!) where there are all these rules one must follow, I will be very sad. What is the point of a subculture if you only end up boxing yourself in to a set of rules? Anyway, I'm tired and hope this makes sense. <3

I'm older school goth and can tell you that there is no fucking absolute to anything in the "goth subculture" but since the vast majority of us wear black and listen to similar musics and have similar artistic, social and political views.
