I wish there were more documentaries focusing on Elizabeth of York. I love her! I've been reading a lot about her over this past year, and she's really fascinating. It's a shame there isn't any films about her and Henry VII's story.
@mckfrr Haha. Henry, in order to be a good king, you must:
-treat your subjects with dgnity, fairness and respect
-treat your children, whether they be boys or girls, with love, affection, devotion, and discipline. In other words, know when to be a father, and when to be a king
-Don't divorce youe wives through bullshit reasons, and don't use those reasons to humiliate them.
Why would Henry be writing with his left hand? That would have been seen as a sign of witchcraft then. No child would be allowed to write like that, especially a prince.
Thank you for uploading this! I have a love/hate relationship with David Starkey lol. Anyway-it is interesting the little boy depicting the young Henry Tudor is writing left-handed. I have read some theories that Henry VIII was indeed a lefty due to the position of his dagger in some portraits.
Let me help you "stained mom", you strange posh fruit. If you have the slightest interest history of this sort then surely you will be aware of THE HISTORY CHANNEL where programmes of this type run pretty much 24/7.
@littlemisssunnydale I'm kinda shocked you didn't know that it was Henry VIII. I have seen many of your videos about the Tudors. Any Tudor enthusiast would know that.
Nice Video. If you need any help getting your video/channel exposed I use a site called Tubeviews . Net They have helped like 5 of my videos get ranked on the first pages.
@WolfDragon94 You re sure you ve got more than ,say, three brain cells ? Henry loves to be around with women alot since he's always around his sisters and his mother." So That then explains : he liked killing them because he d grown up with some?
THat sure makes him unusual! so by logic ca HALF of us women should be regularly killed by the maleOfTheSpecies
But I find it interesting that Elizabeth of York taught him how to read and write.
I just bought Starkey's new book - "Henry: Virtuous Prince". I will start reading as soon as I finish, Kitty Kelly's "The Royals". Starkey's writing is rather irresistible.
wanted to uploaded this myself... saw it last night and have on the sky box.... he does the best documentries on the tudors. the one and onlt David Starley. saw him too on skynews on sunday moring. great man
Yeah I agree. I think it's weird that Starkey said that History had been feminised and that there was too much emphasis on the wives when he wrote a book and did a documentary on them!
I loved this doc. can't wait for the next part! I like the actress who plays Catherine - she actually has the right colouring for once! I also really iked who they got to play Elizabeth
I was impressed with the casting overall fortunately there was no cheesy acting and the actor playing Henry was good. So far two actresses (playing the first two wives) have been named so I am unsure whether all the wives will be depicted. I imagine that the last wives will be rushed through (I think the second episode deals with Henry's military affairs, the third probably with the King's Great Matter and the fourth on his last years).

and being surrounded by adoring, doting females his whole life must have done wonders for any latent narcissistic tendencies. just a thought.
this looks like an excellent series.

Oh definitely! That is a theme promoted by Starkey. Henry just loved to be adored by the ladies!
