  • I can't imagine the control and accuracy it takes wield these swords the way you guys do.

  • @ilikehairbands just lots and lots of practise ;)

  • so is it possible for me to buy one of your weapons without getting in trouble? like mailing? cause i live in California and im curious if you guys mail it secretely?

  • @sluggy32 I cannot advise you regarding your own state laws

  • do you guys sell strait out of your factor or no?

  • @NOOSETTKODANDYOU we ship from our HQ in California or our Arizona office. We also have lots of dealers and distributers worldwide

  • @csknives can I make a suggestion, bows and arrows

  • @thomash49 several of our crew train in archery and bowhunt. You never know what the future may bring ;)

  • @csknives CS , Are you insinuating perhaps that our Govt. might outlaw firearms and takem all away, lol,,or try to ..but just think of the edged weapons you could sell.

  • hate to be on the receiving end of that...

  • give me that shit. im goin back to iraq.

  • @OdaviidS Are you a war veteran?

  • am i the only one who has spent hours looking at their weapon videos?

  • @Fallen385 nope

  • @sammallory79 good

  • Our Gim is made from Damascus and we've had excellent results

  • im not such a big fan of high carbon steel, sure its stronger then stainless steel but its just far to prone to rusting for my taste

  • The Gim seems to be an awesome self defense weapon. The two handed Gim seems to be more a offensive sword. The home web site doesn't give a point of balance measurement to determine if either sword is really suitable for agile blocks or heavy chopping. This would be important for the purchase of the Gim. I would love to have one.

  • the gentleman's sword

  • I can't find the two handed jian on their website!

  • @clawbytes this gim and many /most of cold steels swords have a screwthread pommel instead of the traditional peened pommel found on true battle ready swords, chinese, viking etc etc... I bought the gim above, looks really nice ...but just waving it around in the air and not even striking targets the hilt got loose pretty fast...which is quite dangerous if you think about it....this sword could literally come apart in your hands...see it as a display sword for your wall...NOT a battle ready!

  • press and hold 4

  • That dude cooked and ate all of the meat that he cut with that sword.

  • the point to use a Jian(mandarin)/Gim(cantonese) is to slice and poke, not cut like that.

  • and it blends!!!!!!

  • Made in Mexico

  • such terrible form

  • I have never seen a company more dedicated to preparing the average customer for the zombie apocalypse.

  • Press 6, wait until the sword is drawn then press 8. What speed!

  • Those guys just aren't used to the two-handed ones

  • y do they quit making products like this?

  • Cutting toilet rolls aint much of a challenge >:O 1:11

  • @Impact843 it shows how sharp it is. smartass

  • y u no like gim sword.

  • I can do all this and more with my machete

  • hahaha redicilous.

  • well..i once had to gight a load of rope ...if only i had this sword

  • this jian is so fake you can't have a jian made with 1050 steel(cool steel) that is a piece of shit a good jian can be made with spring or t10 steel but no with 1050 steel

  • This is about the most beautiful video i've seen in the 240 category :) and he's so young in it!

  • are swords really heavy? like even thin small ones?

  • so the fat man know tai chi now?

  • you would have to look pretty hard to find a jian/gim sword that has this kind of quality, even in china... most of the swords you find are decorative so they don't have that kind of quality..

  • gim swords are made to pierce..

  • sadly not enough targets to make the sword happy ...where is justin bieber?

  • It pierces so easily!

  • Its a jian you fycckers

  • I miss the days where they used prisoners tied in groups to test the efficiency of a sword. We need that again! Space would also no longer be a problem ;)

  • Woah! i gotta go watch Crouching Tiger again

  • My best weapon skill is with a sword it is also my wepon of choice. This is my kind of style in a sword long skinny and with twin edges just like the gim sword! I REALY WANT THIS SWORD SOOOOO BAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @MrGregMikol personally I prefer a gun...

  • como es el proceso se compra en españa su pagina no tiene la opcion

  • Try hitting a baseball to see if you can split it ON THE FLY!

  • Does coldsteel deliver to new Zealand? Pls answer

  • I really dont like how the heavier set guy forces the blade when he swings it.

  • @overdewd thats lynn thompson

  • @RYDERkN I do commend him on his accuracy though. Its rare to see someone that accurate. and thanks for giving me his name. now I can describe who he is a lot easier:)

  • If that sword broke during the bend test, wouldn't it go right through the guy...? Nevermind the face mask, I'd wear full body armor

  • whos the fat ass

  • why is it that its the fat guys that always practice with swords.. like there going to just be out in the world walking around with a fucking sword lol.

  • @TheBassgorilla right because you are? Its a hobby dipshit. Maybe you should go get one.

  • @TheBassgorilla He actually does that. The heavy duty sword cane that cold steel sells is the one he usually takes out on walks.

  • all that meat u use...could be used to feed hungry children... just sayin

  • @MingHingEatDaRice ,, They either eat it themselves(give to employees) or give it to shelters. Depending on the situation. They say so it in the info of some of their videos.

  • Why is it that these guys are always 30 years old and fat?

  • @tnks4lyf Uh, he would be closer to 50 than 30 and he's always been chubby judging from pics in my old Cold Steel catalogs. He is a successful businessman and lifelong martial artist. Just because he does not fulfill your homosexual underwear model masturbation fantasies does not mean he is not the best.

  • @FromanMD Pfft. Expecting a martial artist not to be some fat fuck slob makes someone a homosexual? You're a fucking retard, you know that?

  • @Drezin86 No, the fact that you care about another man's cosmetic appearance makes it likely that you are.

  • @FromanMD Did I say I care about it? No. Not even tnks4lyf said anything that would indicate that he cared about it. He simply made an observation, one that seems to be true, i.e., many videos of these sword demonstrations seem to be demonstrated by the exact opposite of someone you would expect to be proficient in marshall arts. The fact that you're reading comprehension is so low makes it likely that you're a moron.

  • @Drezin86 You don't even have a clue. Go look at some real martial arts masters Jigoro looked like a skinny little gnome, Sifu Yang looked like Porky off of the Little Rascals, Oyama Sensei looks like a Cabbage Patch doll. Seriously, who is the moron? You obviously expect a master to look like a leg waxing nancy boy from a movie when in real life guys like that are too busy looking in a mirror or checking out guys in Men's Health magazine to master anything but buy the art or fake tanning, lol

  • @FromanMD Again, improve your reading comprehension, friend. I never commented on what martial arts masters really look like, just what one would expect them to look like. If Hollywood has affected those expectations, so be it. Still, what about Bruce Lee, Jet Li, Jackie Chan, and Tony Jaa? Are they not martial arts masters?

  • @Drezin86 Those are martial arts entertainers, not masters.Bruce Lee might qualify since he developed his own very efficient fighting system but I can't really say. Jet Li and Jackie Chan stated they are ACTORS not fighters and I have never heard of Tony Jaa but after training in martial arts since 1981 I have only met a couple of true masters that weren't funny looking little old men whether they be chubby little rollie pollies or wrinkly stick figures. The reality usually conflicts with fantasy

  • @FromanMD Okay, then I was incorrect. And it doesn't surprise me that the reality conflicts with fantasy. I still stand by my original assertion that started this whole exchange, and that is that one having preconceived notions as to what someone should look like somehow makes them a homosexual is absurd.

  • @Drezin86 It's meant to be a comical jab not an actual deduction about someone's sexual orientation. It is still kind of funny that so many males seem obsessed with Lynn's lack of physical beauty though ;)

  • The Gim was mainly used by ancient Chinese scholars as a weapon which represented their social status, it was not a weapon for ancient Chinese warriors. The ancient Chinese soldiers used different types of sabres and polearms. The Dao is the slashing weapon.

  • @TheXanian Nah, they used it, but the dao was better suited for cavalry combat.

  • @RabbidMonkee

The chinese military abandoned the gim during Han Dynasty. From that time onwards the dao is the dominant weapon in chinese arsenal. The dao was principally used by infantry, only certain types of dao were used by calvary.

  • @TheXanian It's a shame =/ the jian looks so nice too. But I guess the dao was easier to use in the hands of the untrained soldier? Just choppity chop chop?

  • @RabbidMonkee

Yes, you're right, dao is easier to use than gim. Using gim demands more skills and more practises.

  • The Gim/ Jian is not really meant as a slashing weapon like a katana. Chinese Gim techniques are mainly piercing and slicing. In the ancient battlefield if soldiers were to hack and slash with a Gim like that, it'd be broken really quick.

  • cut a tree in half and ill be impressed

  • has anyone notices that all these sword videos have fat ppl in it o and by the way there cuting through thin wood and things i could cut through wit a $1 pocket knife

  • @breaker2395

You not cutting through tatami, bamboo, thick rope, ect in one swing with a pocket knife you moron.

  • @WitheringintheDark But cold steel's pocket knives do!

    :P

  • I wish they would just let go after bending blades, I wanna see 'em fling around!!

  • I wanna see them try to slash one of their own swords with another one. Prolly would just fuck up two edges or do nothing and be pointless. Would be cool thought.

  • @quasiphatpaul any edge on edge contact would do that to any sword . . . . unless you have a specific test in mind?

  • Yes, these are great, but, Will they blend?

  • I think they meant Jian

    >_<

  • @syncmaster930

no they mean gim... it's a variant of the jian that can both cut and thrust... i don't really know a lot about it's history though... but the jian piercing sword has been around for like 2,200 years (may be 2,500)...

  • swords should be able to bend further then that. if you want to see how far a decent sword should bend then watch the mad dwarf sword bend and destruction test

  • if any one charges me with a sword im gonna shoot the in they faces just like marvin in pulp fiction sept im gonna do it on purpose!!!!!

  • WOW Amenomurakumo on FFXI

  • Wow, he really fucked up that shipping tube...

  • when you test blades on rolled straw mats you're supposed put a stick of bamboo inside . Otherwise its way to easy to cut.

  • Where do I buy the two-handed version?

  • u know what they say, the bigger the sword, the smaller the..

  • get a new short man, you slice things allways with the same shitty shirt..

  • your farm animals have no chance ol mcdonald

  • Pretty sure the 2-handed version would be considered a Jian...

  • @VengeanceIV

no the two handed version would be a ShuangShou Jian

P.S. Gim is the Cantonese pronunciation of Jian.

  • @TheaSinensisSerpenti I always wondered why Cold Steel called it the Gim Sword (sword sword lol) when it was principally used in China. ShuangShou Jian literally means dual hand sword right?

  • @RabbidMonkee

    exactly

  • @VengeanceIV I think there is no difference between 1 and 2 handed versions. Gim and jian are two ways to pronounce the same word: sword.

  • @VengeanceIV Actually, the Jian and Gim swords are the same thing, because in Mandarin, sword means jian, but in Cantonese, sword means Gim.

  • @gundamfan67 I second this.

  • @VengeanceIV actually a Jian is the general term for any straight bladed doubled edged chinese sword. The word Jian and Gim are actually the same word and expressed as the exact same chinese character “剑”. The only difference is, that "Jian" is the Mandarin Chinese Pronunciation of the that Chinese character, where as Gim is the Cantonese Pronounciation of the the character :)

  • @Hongers1 AKA pwned?

  • @Hongers1 recommend any good websites or books on Chinese swords/technique?

  • @empyreanlc well i'm not quite sure about any sepcific books just on chinese swords, but if you want good books on chinese martial arts practice and techniques, anything by Shifu Yan Lei is good, there should be sections in those that focus on swords :)

  • @Hongers1 Gim or Giem is also Vietnamese =D

  • @Hongers1 thank you Hop Sing!

  • @Hongers1 Hey guess what?

    Nobody gives a Fuck. Smartass

  • @SquirrelSlayer1000 by the amount of responses i had, clearly a lot of people do give a fuck. Also you clearly gave enough of fuck to reply my comment, which makes you a hypocrite, because the people who actually don't give a fuck wouldn't even bother to reply.

  • @SquirrelSlayer1000 I care.

  • @SquirrelSlayer1000 I found it quite interesting.

You are a retard with no respect for people who are more intelligent then you and Hongers1 is right that you give enough fucks to show how deeply you care for his smartness.

  • @Hongers1 thank you for correcting that mistake.

  • @Hongers1 Hahahahahaha! I was asking questioning myself about the names "Jian" or "Gim" they had to be talking about the samething. xD

  • @VengeanceIV Gim is just Cantonese for sword which is pronounced Jian in Mandarin. Both two handed and one handed are Jian/Gim

  • @VengeanceIV jian = double edged. dao = single edged (ie broadsword)

  • @VengeanceIV there's no two handed jian bro. two handed is for dao only

    sorry for my english

  • @0zzben Dao is a single edged weapon. Jian is double edged.

  • @iamnobodyism i said 2 handed, not double edged.

  • @0zzben I'm telling you jian is any straight double-edged sword. that includes Japanese Tsurugi, European Knight's Broadsword, Roman Legionaire's Gladius, Roman Centurion's Spathion, two handed or one handed. Dao is any sword with a curved or single edged blade including Katana, Falcion, Tang Dao, Greek Hoplite Kopis, Iberian Celt Falcata, or anything like that.

  • but yes you re right there are no Chinese Jian that requires two hands.

  • @iamnobodyism Look up Hanwei Adam Hsu Two Handed Jian.....Pretty sure this requires 2 hands.

  • @VengeanceIV the Chinese also refer to Viking and Roman swords as Jian

  • in a real sword fight, or defense situation you wouldnt be able to stand there getting ready to shops some niggas

  • iths thoe cool man. I mean stheriousthly. Thuper erpic.

  • fuck guns, carry a claymore and hack your attackers in two

  • who said Katana is the best?

  • у нас такие канаты люди ножиками рубят)

  • whats better this or the Jade lion??

  • @ 38 second you couldnt pay me to do that... fuck that!

  • 1:08 biggest fail ever!!

  • im not sure why cold steel just doesnt build a double edge straight fulllength ken katana? It would sell like wild fire.

  • I have attained the lofty level of Mediocre with the blade, and I figure training with a sharp blade should enhance my focus. Anyone care to share some insight relating to sharp blades or any thoughts which can unlock my potential so you help a low level artists travel further on the path? Wishing you all my best. =)

  • ...its just a fancy looking Jian?

  • When did the jian change it's name?

  • @SuperGoliath89 It never did. Since I cant find any information on the term "gim", I can only assume (and again, im just assuming) that this is only dialect differences. Like Kung fu vs Gong Fu. There are many dialects of Chinese that use different words for the same meaning. Mandarin and Cantonese for example. So maybe the gim is used in a different dialect. Again, im not completely sure on this but im positive that the jian and gim are the same sword.

  • @SuperGoliath89 Gim is the Cantonese term, Jian is Mandarin

  • Hey Cold Steel. You should have real sword experts wield these swords instead of the fat guy from the mailroom. The techniques are all wrong and these guys look like they are swinging a baseball bat.

Good idea with these swords, bad marketing.

  • @happosai8

sadly he is a sword expert. dick.

  • @21343

Yeah but his expertise clearly lies outside Chinese swords judging by his stance.

  • @21343 americans...sword experts...do you think about what you're writing?

  • @21343

    only he isn't.

  • @happosai8 actually i just figured the swords were bad ideas to

  • @happosai8

first, yes he is fat, but he would beat the crap outta you if you tried to fuck with him

second, hes the president of cold steel, HES AWESOME

third, the guy with the beard is an absolut pro, i wanna see you making a mor beautiful cut than him

  • Make a Kilijk Coldsteel, then I'll be impressed.

  • Who really cares what they are cutting or piercing in their videos??

The purpose and point of these videos is to show that they are a cutlery manufacturer that isn't afraid to make videos and show everyone that their products are capable. I have yet to see videos from other companies making the same claims that Cold Steel makes, with the video documentation to back it.

  • you kill that cardboard tube

  • Rofl this fat guy thinks he's sooo cool at 1:00 look how he doesnt watch the rope, and his facial expression.

  • Gim is sword in cantonese. So the title says Cold Steel sword sword? =]
