@amyhuk You can't compare a M4 with a Mini-14. Of course the M4 is more ergonomic it was design for military use and a standard Mini-14 is only a ranch rifle. The one I'm shooting with in the video has a custom Butler Creek stock, a 30 rounds mag and a useless 10x scope. When you buy it at the store it comes with a 5 rounds mag and a wooden stock, no scope mounts...
@f0u i have both. m-4 and mini 14. the m-4 can be disassembled cleaned and reassembled in 1/3 the time it takes to get the mini almost 3/4 dis assembled and labeled so you dont lose any of the 65 individual parts. compared to the m-4s 14 parts. i have a 40 two 30s aftermarket mags and 4 20 round factory mags personally i prefer the 20 rounders because they NEVER and i mean never jam. the 30s and 40 double feed embarrisingly often. i have a 7X14 scope. with wood stock and flash suppressor.
@amyhuk I would love to own a M4 but my gun license doesnt allow it. By the way my mini never jammed with 30 rounds mags and I didnt clean it really often... It happened once and I found out that the trigger guard wasnt fixed correctly to the stock. Thanks for your comment.

Nice gun. Are you bumpfiring or simply speed shooting? I have a mini-14 almost identical to the one that you are firing in the video (only a slightly different stock.) I haven't been down to the range in a while, but when I was going fairly often I was able to get a pretty good bumpfire grouping, but it was never as good as my speed shooting, though it was much faster.
@f0u is it an earlier model? my father had one circa 1985 and he said that by removing a sear (i believe) IT COULD be converted to full auto... not very economical, or legal, i suppose
You had pretty good target acquisition at the beginning but started to lift at the end. Plus I don't think I would be speed shooting with a scope on it. You need open or holographic optics for that sort of shooting.
@limitsmeinside I had 2 eyes open, not really looking through the scope, and I was not shooting far away, maybe 150 feet. All the shots hit the target.

The rounds are honestly insufficient for med. game hunting. Although, with a 20 round mag and little to no recoil, you could pump four or five shots into one buck before he even knew what hit him.

optics on a mini aren't pointless, I've got the target model. I can hit a 500 yard target consistent with no adjustments. I think it's just your scope mounts.

A clip is something that holds ammo in place so you can speed load your rifle. Its most common with a bolt action rifle, particularly in military weapons.
A magazine is a drum that holds ammo that attaches to the guns itself. Most common with semi auto guns, there is no action needed after firing the weapon to load the next round (as opposed to a bolt).

i think the 30 rounds look okay, not too big, i agree 40 rounds make it look like a terrorist gun, but then again I'd rather hhave a 30 round mag if my house was under attack than a 20 round. heck, preferably a 100 round drum
It depends on the year and ammunition, but you can probably get accurate fire on a man size target out to about 300 yards. Again, this is rough numbers. I can't speak for the target models or the modified barrel mini's. But it's more of a close in weapon compared to the AR's and AK's.
Mini-14 shoots .223, Mini-30 shoots 7.62x39 (same action as the 14) reliable, better accuracy with the newer models
I own a new Mini-14 and I like it, but if you are looking for an overall best buy, I would have to say the AK47 because you can usually find a good price, decent mags are easier to find, and you might find yourself wanting an AR-15 if you want a .223 gun. My best advice would be to go shoot both.
i have a mini 30 which shoots the 7.62x39, same as the AK. I do enjoy shooting the gun, it is a bit pricey and when compared to the AK i would just get the AK. A big problem that i have found is getting Mags that are reliable. Being in cali i can only use 10rnd and they have been shitty. Go with the AK if you are going for cheap but i would say the 30 is slightly more accurate.
A friend of mine has one that's select fire(semi- or full-auto), no bump firing necessary. Also has a silencer that takes a big edge off the sound. Its not silent by any means, just a lot quieter. And yes its all legal with the right permits.
None of the above I guess... An assault rifle is for combat, like machineguns. And a Sniper is far more accurate, so I removed the scope, it was useless. I think this is only a hunting rifle with big mags. But I know it had a military use years ago. Anyway, I don't hunt with this rifle and I don't go to war very often =P But it's fun at the range!
Your Mini-14 is a shrunk down copy of the old 7.62mm M-14 It was in service form the 1950s and until the middle of the 1960 as the United States main combat rifle. It is still in use today as a heavy hitting support and sniper rifle. The original rifle was a slect fire weapon making it an assault rifle. Don't sell your Mini-14 they are alot of fun to shoot. I sold mine and now regret it.
It's a sporting rifle. A assault rifle is select fire (from semi to auto) and a sniper rifle is usually a bolt action (sometimes a semi) with very high accuracy.
i have a mini, and after plugging about 50 rounds down the barrel it was hot enough to give 2nd degree burns to the dumbass that grabbed it a minute later

i dont think anyone has noticed yet, without the scope that was the other assault rifle other then the Colt/M4 in Grand Theft Auto Vice City, just with a different stock and orange.
They're the only mags that work consistently in all three of my Mini 14's.
I look at all other mags as inferior. Thermold mags are tough, well-proven and reasonably priced. They're also the official mag for Canadian troops in their 5.56 Colt rifles.

It depends on the year and ammunition, but you can probably get accurate fire on a man size target out to about 300 yards. Again, this is rough numbers. I can't speak for the target models or the modified barrel mini's. But it's more of a close in weapon compared to the AR's and AK's.

AK-47 shoots 7.62x39, reliable, decent enough accuracy.
Mini-14 shoots .223, Mini-30 shoots 7.62x39 (same action as the 14) reliable, better accuracy with the newer models
I own a new Mini-14 and I like it, but if you are looking for an overall best buy, I would have to say the AK47 because you can usually find a good price, decent mags are easier to find, and you might find yourself wanting an AR-15 if you want a .223 gun. My best advice would be to go shoot both.

i have a mini 30 which shoots the 7.62x39, same as the AK. I do enjoy shooting the gun, it is a bit pricey and when compared to the AK i would just get the AK. A big problem that i have found is getting Mags that are reliable. Being in cali i can only use 10rnd and they have been shitty. Go with the AK if you are going for cheap but i would say the 30 is slightly more accurate.

Better is relative term, it more expensive than an ak-47 less recoil, more accurate if you plan to shoot things that are 100+ yards.

A friend of mine has one that's select fire(semi- or full-auto), no bump firing necessary. Also has a silencer that takes a big edge off the sound. Its not silent by any means, just a lot quieter. And yes its all legal with the right permits.

None of the above I guess... An assault rifle is for combat, like machineguns. And a Sniper is far more accurate, so I removed the scope, it was useless. I think this is only a hunting rifle with big mags. But I know it had a military use years ago. Anyway, I don't hunt with this rifle and I don't go to war very often =P But it's fun at the range!

Your Mini-14 is a shrunk down copy of the old 7.62mm M-14 It was in service form the 1950s and until the middle of the 1960 as the United States main combat rifle. It is still in use today as a heavy hitting support and sniper rifle. The original rifle was a slect fire weapon making it an assault rifle. Don't sell your Mini-14 they are alot of fun to shoot. I sold mine and now regret it.

It's a sporting rifle. A assault rifle is select fire (from semi to auto) and a sniper rifle is usually a bolt action (sometimes a semi) with very high accuracy.

i have a mini, and after plugging about 50 rounds down the barrel it was hot enough to give 2nd degree burns to the dumbass that grabbed it a minute later

They're the only mags that work consistently in all three of my Mini 14's.
I look at all other mags as inferior. Thermold mags are tough, well-proven and reasonably priced. They're also the official mag for Canadian troops in their 5.56 Colt rifles.
Grab some and you won't be sorry.
