  • Shamardal would never have been defeated at a Mile on Turf. He had that rare ability many top class horses don't, the ability to lead, control and quicken. We were robbed of a truly great horse at his peak when his career ended suddenly. He probably would have won the Eclipse as well, because neither Oratorio or Motivator were anywhere near as good as Hurricane Run. And to think Shamardal won the Prix Du Jockey Club despite seeming not to stay against a future Arc winner in Hurricane Run.

  • godolphin ruin fucking every horse they touch

  • Shamardal reminds me of Dubai Millenium...

  • WOW...

  • what a great horse he was. shame he had to be retired. would have won a lot more group 1s

  • Shamardal being retired through injury after this victory was a real blow. He had the ability to gallop his rivals into submission and potentially he could have gone through the rest of the 2005 season unbeaten. There was nothing around to touch him over a mile as I'm sure he would have had the measure of Starcraft & Dubawi. Even over 1m 2f he would have been tough to beat as he would certainly have been capable of mixing it with Oratorio, Azamour & Motivator over that trip.
