Because of course making a statement like "Lord of the Rings is better than sex!" is completely unbiased on the "Lord of the Rings Trilogy Blu-Ray TV Spot" Youtube video and the forty supporters you get aren't equally biased persons and overly-excited children pumped from this announcement.
When I was 4-5 years old I saw the original Star Wars trilogy and I was forever changed on a creative level. They are still among my all-time favorites but for my generation it was The Lord of the Rings! Truly remarkable movies, just... everything! Howard Shore's soaring score, NZ's unforgettable landscape, the perfect cast both in appearance as well as performances, groundbreaking SFX, the memorable old-fashioned Tolkien dialogue... ahhh :) and please... HP isn't even close to LOTR's quality.
@smash37 lord of the rings destroy star wars and harry potter in terms of the movie :) i love star wars lores but seriously the movie aint really good
@BlizzardGamification and of course, the Star Wars films were written as SCREENPLAYS to be viewed as MOVIES; whereas the Jackson LoTR was an adaption of Tolkien's work. You're pitting a screenplay against a series of epic novels. The movies are fantastic, you're implying that they were aiming for the same goal of entertainment. The scores and world of Jackson's LoTR could easily be topped by Luca's era-relevant revolutionary filmmaking genius.
@smash37 that said. From the 2-3 HP books I've opened compared to the first LoTR novel I've just opened, bloody hell, trust me the LoTR books are far more detailed. By quality, Tolkien shoots over Rowling; he made his own maps and languages for pete's sake. I think a book-based view like HP > LoTR instead of just the movies is merely relevant to what time you picked up each book.

Harry Potter baffles me - I really don't get why its popular but it is. It attracts children, young adults, and infuriates some adults who accuse Rowling of satanism for some reason... (-_-). But it's gotten popular for being a modern take on epic fantasy; fine, you can like it. But I can't agree that the quality or depth of Harry Potter is higher than of Lord of the Rings - Tolkien put his soul into that and his effort shows; Rowling got lucky with getting HP#1 published and well-received.
@Satschinga avatar, yes. star wars, definately yes. harry potter, not really, especially with the 7th film out now, it is EPIC! HP and LOTR are kinda head-to-head masterpieces now.
@SpiderBoy992 the LOTR books will still be better than HP books no matter how much i love them. Star wars was...ok but it wasn't my generation. The HP films are really bad (except the 7th cause that one was most loyal to book ) compared to the LOTR movies

I mean it's like saying Modern Warfare 3 will "shit all over Halo Classic". Well, yeah, Halo 1 came out how many years ago; or saying that MW3 is a rip-off of Halo - absolutely preposterous given that Halo simply came earlier and has very little in common with MW3. You make an ass out of yourself saying either of these because it's an unfair comparison
@keesvdijkhuizen *New Line intro* *title* *clip starts* "From revolutionary Director, Peter Jackson." *title* *clip starts* "Comes the groundbreaking Lord of the Rings trilogy." *title* *clip starts* "For the first time in BluRay, high definition." *music wells, clips play on* Gandalf - "All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us." *title* The End :)
I loved the music. Mr. Shore did a great job on the entire score!
That SFX you used to introduce the titles brought some dynamic into the track (reminds me of the end of your Dark Knight trailer where you used Vespertillo to underscore The Eagles) but I think it could have been used more often. e.g. at 0:09 when the Ents make a step forward.
All in all a great TV spot for the most celebrated trilogy.

@SpiderBoy992 i'm not saying the HP books are bad, no i think they're awesome! but LOTR has really shaped modern literature for the better.

Great I loved the music piece, you should definitely make a super trailer for all the 3 movies, I would if I knew them very well.
