@dcc460ut Okay yeh i have seen that but it´s preddy expensive...i don´t have the monney for that :P my second camera i have check is the Nikon 3100 is that better then D90?
It's a low level DSLR Camera! in this case go ahead and buy Sony A-55 it has everything you ask for with a 16MPix and HD Video around $850! I got one and I like it very much both it's video and it's pictures
You are right but the Nikon D90 does not have any input for a mic!! and Nikon did not try to improve the video quality either that's why I sold it and Bought a new Panasonic GH1.
My pleasure. Does the GH1 have a mic input? And does it shoot in HD? Is it better than the D90? I really like Panasonic cameras. I'm currently looking at the Canon D7 and I am thinking of buying it, but it's quite expensive... How much does the GH1 cost?
Yes, the GH1 solved All those problems we faced with D90 like fix back screen, low quality video, Auto gain control, manual focus etc..now you have a nice adjustable monitor, gain is fixed, and you can control the speed and aperture as well. it's a high class digital camcorder but of course it is not as good as Nikon D90 when we talk about Photography!
Thank you sooo much, keep up the great work! I have a D90 and D5000 that I am going to try to do some video with. I am more of a photo than video guy, but this is an inspiration. Also I think I found the artist for the music is Paul Schwartz possibly. Thanks :)
I'm in the process of buying a DSLR (if that's the right word in english for it) myself. And I'm thinking of this camera... Are the movie clips okey to look at? Is the 24p, that the d90 has, enough?
But, I just gotta ask, what's the name of the music title and who's the composer?! I'd love to find the sheet music to it and play it myself!!
I did not!, I use Final Cut Pro with my Mac and I put the AVI files directly on the time line and then if I want to convert the final to WVM I use QuickTime with a Plugin.
I don't know about Vegas, it doesn't work with Mac!
Great video!! I'm about to get this beautiful camera! I have one question though...how does the video capture feature work? Is the shutter kept open permanently while capturing the video or does it open/close at a certain speed?
before you go to live mode, you sett the shutter according to the light meter of camera and lock it then go to the live mode and press the record. the speed in video mode is around 1/48 sec. in video mode all features are manual so it is not easy to handle it like a ordinary camcorder.
wonderfull video! what settings did you use on those dusk and night shots? I'm always having a lot of noise in my videos with the d90 when shooting at night.
Try fast lenses with f-stop less than 2.0 like Sigma 24mm f 1.8 which I used here for dusk and night or Nikon 35mm f 1.8 or Nikon 50mm f 1.4. D90's shutter speed maintain at 48 to keep the 24 fps but then when the light is low , D90 pushes up the gain (ISO) to capture the pictures! that's why we get noise
Try to watch it in high quality which you see it under the video. Sure I have in 720 Hd somewhere else and I try to send the address via your YouTube message
Man I'm glad I searched for that German beer commercial shot with the D90 b/c I found this vid in the related sidebar. This short along with the German commercial and the 3 minute long take of car moving on a Tokyo bridge at night are the best clips from the D90. The other clips I saw before this clip ant the other two,I was not impressed. They look like a 1970's 16mm film. lol. I want to do a short film with dialogue, just wondering should I wait for the 2nd generation D90?
To buy or not to buy D90! well yes and no, it is a powerful still picture camera but the video part needs a lot of attention to be a perfect film camera ( NOT VIDEO ) we are on the edge of technology and every two month something new come out, so if you are a film maker and have around $1500 to start then buy it who knows about tomorrow? this is not a camcorder and it needs Tripod and your good skill of working with a manual camera and other film's knowledge
Breathtaking! These "abstract" videos are vague enough to give us a visual of a good movie. In this case, it would be one of those mysteries/drama movies. The other one gave me the soothing visuals of a garden in front of a castle, like from Beauty and the Beast... ;)
See? That's why I called them "abstract clips" since it's all about what the viewer imagines.
Ever think of making mini movies on YT with these amazing ideas of yours? :)
Nice, how do you get that film look with a digital camera?

I have redad abot this camera at many site´s and i still wonder can this camera film in real Hd ? the quality of this movie seems to be very good :)
VwErik88 1 year ago
@VwErik88
This camera is old now, you can buy the new Nikon D7000 or Panasonic GH1 or GH2 for real HD
Those lenses that I used here were not kit lens that's why the video quality is better.

What do you do to get large depth of field? since you cannot control the aperture?
Citabria007 2 years ago
Use Manual Lenses and set your camera to manual,
set the aperture to 4 or 5.6 then lock the AE go to live
and start filming

I like your use of a tripod. It makes such a difference. More pleasant to look at..
There were three handheld scenes in this video, shakey

As the shots are edited (music added etc ) is the footage enhanced, it looks slightly blurred in HD on iMac24! so do you have any raw footage?
Great location, wish it was like that here in UK....
