The fralins sound great! Must be a big improvement over the original PRS pickups.I like the clarity on the wound strings.ARE YOU HAPPY WITH THE P92'S?
@AllenPinchloaf I really do dig the P92s and I am happy. I also would have to admit, out of all the PRS guitars I have played, the PUs on the Hollowbody II were my favorites. I think PRS did a great job with those PUs.
@caulinrocker1 I tend to like good HBs more then any other PUs but then again it is useful and fun to have other choices. At times I miss having HBs in the PRS and yet I find the Fralins to be something I would miss if I put back in the old HBs...all in all, the PRS is just a great guitar. Peace
I really dig your playing. I'm going to study jazz in university and to be honest i don't know many jazz guitarists other than maybe Django of course. Which jazz guitarists is your playing influenced by?
@MorbidHumanity666 Good for you. Jazz is a great art form and the limited study I have been able to do has really strengthened my musicality. Although I do listen to many jazz guitarist, I find myself more drawn to horn players. As far as guitarist go, Joe Pass, Mick Goodrick, Pat Martino, Pat Metheny, Wes Montgomery, and John Scofield. Each of the mentioned guitarist has put out some excellent work and has also have a number of really weak recordings (IMHO).
Im a huge Phan myself and love Trey's guitar but i refuse to buy a $3000 guitar just to try to sound like him. I just won a Raven West Semi-Hollowbody Guitar with P-90's. for under $500 on Ebay and can't wait to get it
First of all, I love your username. Secondly, your playing is excellent. Lastly, thank you not only for demoing these pickups in my favorite style, but also for not using so much distortion that I can't hear the true nature of it all.
@phishfacemountian Out of curiosity, what gauge string do you play with? I play with 11s myself, to help get a thicker sound. Then again, I play blues. Thanks for the response, looking forward to potential videos! Have a great day, man.
@jrtaylor559 yes, because all true musicians understand that fat plays a role in bringing out the ture nature of an instrument. To quote a great song by Spinal Tap "The bigger the cushion, the sweeter the pushin' "
how is the distortion on these. I've been looking at these for a while, and wanting to hear some demos, but this is the only one out there. So yeah, I see it has really good cleans which is great, but what about the distortion. By the way great demo.
I will do a demo on that...any particular type of dirt you are looking for: marshall? vox? fender?...pedals: fuzz, germium or other? give me a few thoughts and I will do my best to get a demo up with that in mind...peace
well I currently use just a PRS SE Singlecut with a Crate V50 Amp. So anything close to that would be nice. As for pedals it doesn't really matter to me, all i have is a Boss Distortion and Delay pedal, so I'll leave that decision to you. Thanks a lot man

unfortunately there's no such thing as great prices here in Brazil ... so I always need to travel to the USA or to the UK to buy nice gear :(
