if it's a review try not to just tell the story, give a background e,g. the setting, characters, voices etc and then give opinions on aspects of the film. Sorry to be a critic but other than that a good review
This movie was awesome and the best I've seen since because the storyline is uniquely different the the similarities of other films and their expected turnouts of the characters or conflicts. much better than the trash that Hollywood now produces.
oh one more thing. thanks for dumbing down the storyline for people with your inteligence level. the biggest word you used was incredible. everyhting you told me i either allready knew or could find on wikipedia. it's alteration of history, anything can happen idiot. cant you leaan to project your voice any better. you sound like a news anchorman with a dick up his ass.
hehe idk i like watching someone elses thoughts about anime hard to find i watch alot of anime and think its cool his talking about it im not watching to find out if its good or not im watching it to find out what someone else thought about it :/ this anime was great but yeah i agree it did lack the depth of akira usually these kinds of anime are too serious for me but i really like the style it stays interesting
Ok I liked some of your other reviews, I actually wanted to watch this to get an idea BUT DAMN your taking it too far I had to stop watching it cause this is not a review your telling the whole story....!!!! You should have noted this was a spoiler ..!
yeah if u think thats bad with the steam science watch the god awful movie muntant chronicles which takes place 700 hundred years in the future where everything is steam powered and they have steam ships that can go to mars
@SWAGshow You might not like how there are outrageous steam-powered machines that are well beyond today's technology, but that's part of the genre. It's called a steampunk. Steampunks take the pas and place elements of the future in it. Some steampunks can completely rewrite history. What made the genre so popular IS the outrageous steam-powered machines that are well beyond today's capabilities.
@silverstarinthesky i like you outlook on the video. you will laugh out loud at what i wrote about swagshow. hes going to send me hate mail vie email.
@SWAGshow HEY HEY do not rip on the storyline asshole, every component in the movie was needed completely. fuck if your going to be a critique then you need to know what the fuck your talking about first. and the voice of james was supposed to be annoying. at the begging of the movie she was supposed to be a snotty bitch. and learn to speak english correctly because your grammerical skills are a bit off.
Damn, the limitless complexity of the steam-powered machinery in this film kinda reminded me a of a character I came up with a while ago and am still working on on, namely a robot called MARC-5, whose design is based on reverse-engineered alien tech, which is highly-advanced yet immensely ancient, so he basically runs entirely on steam power. Of course that's obviously the concept behind the steampunk genre itself, futuristic technology powered by a relatively primitive means.
Well since Im used to see you review and talk about Games and Merch from games, so... It just feels kinda different, Of course it would be stale if you would just reviewed Video games so I think its good that you review anime movies but I would rather see you review Anime series instead
Well, I would like to review a series but the fact of the matter is that I'm watching all these movies and playing all these games in only 30 days so I don't really have time to watch an entire series right now. I am trying to mix things up as much as possible to try and give people something new to watch and not the same thing twice in a row.
I got this when it first came out on DVD in the US, It's an okay film, but like you said it's probably the voice actress for James that severely fucked up the whole film, she had no concept of doing a Manchurian (Manchester) accent and ended up sounding like a drunk Australian choir boy most of the time.
Also Manchester never looked like that in the 1800's, those suburban houses weren't even in London until another 50 years later.
your not reviewing it just retelling it

Steamboy
+ Gorgeus animation
+ Fast pace
+ Solid voice actors
+ Well recommended to steampunks & animation lovers
- Too long
- Muddled story
- Unlikable & under-developed characters
In the end, as flawed as it was, I enjoyed it. Out of 10? I'd give it a 5.

The film has superb-level animation, but the story is not as good.
IN the end, Otoma has failed to rival his true masterpiece "Akira", which was far superior in characters and story and in emtional power.
Webins 2 years ago
I liked Akira more than this.
Maybe because this was in the 1800.

This movie would have been better if it hadn't butchered steam physics. The "science" in this movie is deplorable.
tetrisclock 3 years ago
thats kind of the idea though, its called steampunk.
haxor98 2 years ago
I love steampunk, but the best SP builds on actual science to create technology that we have today, just with older forms of energy.
Read anything by Jules Verne for that.

hey Nick.
Im sorry but its getting repetive that you almost only review Anime movies.
I like Anime but this is getting a little stale, even though Steamboy aint just violence 24/7.

Out of the 14 reviews done so far, only 3 of them were anime; that's too much?

It´s steampunk therefore anything can be in it the same way as anything can happen in Star Wars in terms of style.
