@woddaheck My surgeon flatly advised against draining the cyst for this exact reason you mention and, rather, strongly suggested to live with it, or have it surgically removed. I've had the ganglion cyst on the underside area of my wrist for twelve years and it has only increased in size, never fluctuated by increasing and decreasing. I would surmise that should I decide not to have it removed that it will only increase. It's now at the point where it causes great pressure to surrounding tissue.
@MalibuSunrise1 Dude i know you'r a bum boy and all but please calm down. This is a cyst video so quit bitching about wanting rubber fists up your ass. ok?
@MrHestolemyname "You forgot to put a capital P after the full stop ! Your bad at writing" It's not writing, the issue is with the grammar. BTW, you typed "your" instead of "you're"... just saying.
"It looks like KY jelly" "It looks like it would be good for lubricating a vagina" lol..wtf? I dont think it was the time or the place to say either of those things..lmao
I have one on the top of my wrist which has reduced significantly since I retired. Two of my former employees each had their sac drained twice; shortly after, the fluid (they said it looked like grease) returned...a doctor finally had to remove the sac. Each was off work for 2-weeks.
i had a cyst that grew deep in my shoulder so they had to operate because it was inbetween my bones lol turns out that wasnt even causing my pain its my skulliosis woo
I would be concerned about this person's technique. It is my understanding that cysts should not be removed this way. Mine was removed first by making an incission, then by extracting. I was told that squeezing it as this person has done can cause dammage, injury and infection and make ti come back worse next time. You should never squeeze out the contents of a cyst. Medically unsafe. Is this person an M.D.?
One can call a plumber in to fix a toilet, but some may choose a handy man. Oh, by the way, the cyst was drained once by an MD before acupuncture was done.
I agree shatros. I had my Ganglion Cyst removed surgically. The surgeon found that the cyst had developed a root that was starting to affect my hand's nerves. They got it out just in time to avoid nerve damage.
I asked the Dr about the Gideon bible method (where you slam a heavy bible on the cyst to rupture it.) He said the cyst can come back and the root can continue to grow.
@laudiumWP perhaps the fluid is harmless to the surrounding tissues, but surely squeezing that tissue like that will interfere with the healing process. In any case, what is the mechanism behind the acupuncture?
I don't know why people rated your comment down, it's a good question. And the answer to your question is yes, they can take it out with a proper extraction needle. I've seen quite a few of these though, and they seem to commonly use the accu method, which I will personally request for mine.
Ok, as weird as it sounds, I've watched probably a hundred cyst clips on YT, and the ganglion ones -always- come out clear. Excuse me for being uneducated...but why is that? Why is it clear?
Because there is no infection and therefore no pus should be seen. Occasionally acute ones may look a bit red/bloody. Synovial fluid is supposed to look clear or light yellow. Study a bit anatomy and you will understand.
What's the actual fluid made of, though? If it's not puss, not cyst 'cheese'(for lack of a better word), what, under the scientific sun, is clear and considered 'an infection' within the human body?
jtp, cysts aren't infections themselves. They can certainly become infected, and ganglion cysts tend not to be. Cysts are abnormal growths of cells that occur either naturally or unnaturally.
@jtpgz523 I was told (and also researched this information) that it is tendon fluid or, more specifically, synovial fluid. The latter is the exact term that my orthopedic surgeon used. It is like a gel, in consistency, and the ganglion, as I had surmised, is never cancerous, but grows from a "stalk" located adjacent to the cyst. Hope this helps.
Listen closely after the comment, "It looks like KY Jelly"

@shatros That is true for sebum cysts. This is synovial fluid. It is harmless to surrounding tissues.
