  • i dig this

  • I love that fact you covered this. and i would like to think Hennes Coetzee would too! I read some negative comments that are kinda on point thou.

I encorage you to try again. This time i would like to hear it with wire brushes on the drums and don't 'step on it' too much! also add some Cow Bell...that would compliment the piece well. I got a fever...and perscription is more COW BELL!!

(sorry I couldn't resists!) Good job though!

  • jajajajaja xD

  • common dont do that

  • but...sorry... what's the point ?

  • @nobodaddy33 Maybe the "point" is that nobody can please all the people all the time,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, and whats wrong with that?

    Take Care~

  • HANNES COETZEE makes me happy every single time I listen to him. Enjoy this song!

  • BIG BEN commented:

It's waaaayyy difficult to overdub a track percussion (last)on a track like that"

    EM replied:

You sir, KNOW EXACTLY what your talking about. :~D

The "CHALLENGE" comes from THE FACT that Mr. Coetzee was literally "OBLIVIOUS" to any other human instrument, timing wise, when he made his video~ When I listened to and played along is was like jamming with somebody who literally couldn't even HEAR ME playing.

I could HEAR / FEEL him, but he couldn't HEAR / FEEL me.

  • Yep, the drummer is the one who is normally setting the rhythm and timing for the rest of the band to sync up with, not the other way around. Multi-track recording is hell until the rhythm track is laid down, no matter what the style. You did great. Drummers rule! LOL

  • cool stuff

  • this is great... way Kool and i'm spreading the word...

  • and that's the truth...this is pure! *****

  • PHANTA JISTO:

    Hi ~ :~D

Thanks very much for your positive comment~

I played the Bass and Drums from a musically "BLIND" perspective..... It wasn't easy.... I did the best I could~

Click on my username at the top left corner of this comment and take a look and listen at my newest 100% original music video if you want~

I'm a You-Tube Partner, and I just trying to get some exposure for my own music as well as MR. COETZEE's awesome unique technique.

    Take Care~

    EDEN MAZE~

  • love it

  • well done dude not bad cosidering you only been playing drums about a year,im a drummer to and i know from past experience it aint to easy to lay down a drum track to music thats already there so well done, keep up the good work

  • TYFION~

    Thank you~

I can tell you know what your talking about.

It can be "EXTREMELY CHALLENGING" to

"OVERDUB" a drum track under instrumental music that was originally recorded WITHOUT a metronome.

The average person doesn't notice the slight timing variations that "COME AT YOU BLINDLY" in this type of studio situation.

It's WAYYYY different then actually jamming with a guitar player in "REAL TIME"

Thanks for not being too hard on my novice skills.

    Take Care~ :~D

  • I second that! It's waaaayyy difficult to overdub a track percussion (last)on a track like that. You have to listen to the original a number of times to learn where the slight timing variations are. Hard as heck, even when it's your OWN music. Good job. Ironic to get this share now after faving original stuff by Mr. Coetzee many months ago.

  • ooo and by the way when u play the bass..looks like u got the groove ov the song ..very cool...kudos to you

  • i would have put more drum fills than basic ones..and since the guy has electric drums he should be a pro...my opinion...no offence

  • ANDYKINEW:

Hi Andy. I'm EDEN MAZE, I'm the guy playing the drums and bass.

I apreciate your candor and your honesty. I've only been playing the drums for about a year. I agree with you that I played the verses kinda "SQUARE" but I think my beat choice on the chourus's was pretty cool.

The drums are performed very "WHITE" if you know what I mean...

    Thanx for your comment.

    Take Care :~D

  • Your sorted mate, keep doing what you do

  • i've never felt so chill after listening to this

  • PUNKS:

Right On! You know I contacted Mr. COETZEES record label and asked them If I could upload this to my You-Tube Partner channel (EDEN MAZE) and they said NO. I offered to split any money I made off of this video with HAYNEES COETZEE 50 / 50 and they still said NO!

They said that since he is under contract with EMI that it just can't be allowed.

I wish they would have let me do it. I think Everybody would have won. Instead, we all kinda lose.

Thats how the music BIZ is. :~D

  • Those fucking bastards

  • this is great its just so happy and joyful sounding

  • MR JIMCO MUSTACHE:

    Right On JIM! :~D

It almost makes a person feel / think that everything just might be allright if we can all just learn to relax and get along. :~)

    EM~

  • Nice collab guys..

    Keep on Jammin' :D

  • fine

  • :P yeah thats really cool

  • Damit! sounds so good! Youtube should fix a "repeat" button :D

  • VERY COOL!

  • hey man you did great you need to keep it up the first is good but you put a good spin on it

  • i could listen to this all day

  • bro, very good effort. keep it up.

  • BPM: Count the beats during any 6-second portion of the song and multiply by 10. I get 130 BPM for this song. (13 beats X 10) It's no different than calcutating your heart rate.

  • Vaaau... Super!

  • Whats the BPM on this song?! I need to know!!

  • thats the shit!!!!!

  • this owns so much i would like to see sum more

  • the drums need to be little more jazzy.

    and with a back beat

  • Damphear: Your absolutely right. I played the Verse parts "WAY TO SQUARE" But I think I did O.K. on the MAIN HOOK part. You know... the part where I changed the beat a little bit... I thought the TOME RIM STICK SHOT stuff was pretty clever as well.

I do sound like a "SQUARE PEG" during the verse parts though.... LOL...

I suck! LOL........ You couldn't be more correct!

You've got a good ear. Take Care!

  • man, I just can't explain to you how much this just rocked. Maybe you should twead the rythm of the drums a bit but anyway... wow. Best thing since sliced bread!

  • wow this ruled well done

  • Great Stuff !!!

  • seriously! awesome!

  • kick ass!

  • HAHAHA! Totaly kick ass!

  • nice. good job. make some more. nice job. mutna

  • I forgot to tell you how much I enjoy your videos and your comments.I also want to thank you for your time helping me out here. I really want to know how she does it so that all or you up and comming artests can do the same.

  • Hey, Virtual Jam, I read your comments on ysabellabrave about her using coppyrighted meteral. I found it very interesting so I asked her a simple question about it and she didnt approve my comment. Whats up with that, in your opinion? If she is paying for the privledge it could be very expensive.I guess she doesn't want to tell how she does it.

  • you couldn't feel the origonal groove of the song, and it threw off the entire thing

  • BRIHIGHHH: Your right! I agree, I fucked it up. LOL! I'm not that great of a drummer, the whole "AFRICAN VIBRATION" kinda threw me.

I think I did O.K. on the CHANGE PART and the little RIM STICK thing was kinda cool to, but I really blew chunks on the MAIN LINE. I suck! LOL

  • look, being sarcastic doesn't mean you didn't do a bad job. it's just not a good mix, man that's all i'm saying. it didnt add anything to the song, you're more just playing along. you don't have to get defensive, it just isn't good.

  • I'm not being sarcastic. I honestly agree with you.

It's just hard for anyone to sense "EXACTLY how someone "FEELS" in text style messeages.

Seriously. I really do agree with you. This is actually kind of FUNNY, cuz I am a sarcastic kind of person, but this time I'm really just being honest!

LOL..... I feel a little like the "BOY WHO CRIED WOLF" lmao.... Thanks very much for your time.

I'd subscribe to you, but there is NO SUB button on your page.

  • I really don't understand certain rhythm types.

I'm just a novice on the drums... but I'm learning.

It's like I'm playing a "SQUARE DANCE and Mr. COETZEE is playing a "TRIANGLE DANCE" You know what I mean?

  • Love it!

If I could ask what s/w & h/w do you use to create these vids?

Keep it the great work, very cool!

  • Sure..... You can ask! lol

  • what can i say...i am speechless...

  • Torrie: I really don't know what to type either....

  • That to play with a spoon is REALLY HARD! trust me I`ve TRIED....

  • Mr. COETZEE is really amazing I just love his sound so much. I've never tride the spoon trick yet Because I'm sure it's probably REALLY hard to do.

  • I love that spoon!

  • HI Vickie......... Isn't that spoon the most AMAZING thing! I think we have been using them wrong all this time. Eating with them..... What we're we thinking... lol :-)

  • very cool

  • Re. MAMMAGRAHAM Comment: Mr. COETZEE is the MOSTEST BOMBASTIC! lol

    I love this guys sound.........

    Right on Bro!

  • I'm guna hve to try that trick with a spoon my self, very cool.

  • Just make sure there is no food still left on the spoon or you will make a messy mess on your stringy strings......... PLEASE MAKE A VIDEO OF YOU TRYING THIS...... You've got a webcam now..... sooooooo...

    C'mon..... Lets See! :-0

  • Mr. Coetzee indeed is very talented and the teaspoon is simply brilliant!

But your Virtual Jam is one of the best ideas to use the internet I have ever seen!

And I think you added to a great song! (I even prefer your version!) (by the way, do you perhaps know the title to this song?)

    Keep jamming!

Respect and greetings from the Netherlands (actually one of the smallest, but I think I know what you mean! ;-) Thanks!

  • In reference to the size of the NETHERLANDS:

It's not how big it is.... It's how you use it! lol

    :-).......

Seriously though. Thanks very much for your positive comments. I don't know the title of His song. I've looked around, but I can't find it.

I'm gonna keep searching though... Mr. COETZEE is just plain PHENOMINAL...... :-0

  • The title of the song is "Mahalla"!

If you want to find out more about Hannes Coetzee go to his myspace site:

    his username is hannescoetzeeteaspoonslideguitarist

    Enjoy! :)

  • Thank YOU VERY MUCH.......

    I will do that. :-)

  • my pleasure - enjoy! :)

  • Really great!

  • Thanks for the positive comment Patrick.

Mr. HANNES COETZEE is a VERY talented guy.

I had never seen anybody play slide guitar witha spoon in their mouth like that ever before. When I saw it........ I said to myself, I have to

"VIRTUALLY JAM" with this Guy... lol

    :-)

    Take Care.

    P.S.

    The NETHERLANDS are GREAT!

  • I do know that Dave, I guess I should have said that I like the combination of his music with your druming and the video. Love you too son. Dad

  • NP = No Problem = :-) = Happy Human Being!

Thanks for all your support Dad!

  • Dave, as we looked closer and saw the spoon in Hannes mouth it was better yet, that's ausum. Give us some more of that, it's great. Dad

  • Thats beautiful Dave, I love it and feel like I could dance to it. I'ts like a Hawaiian two step if there is such a thing. Picture the dancers swaying to your music. Dad

  • Thanks Very Much Dad.... But It's not "MY MUSIC"

The sound you are enjoying is Soley the responsiblity of the Great Spoon Slide Guitar player MR. HANNES COETZEE of South Africa. I'm just accompanying him.

I.E. riding his Coat tails, I.E. backing him up.

He's the Genius. Not Me... I Love You DAD! :-)

  • i hate you.

  • Hating Other wannabe musicians like myself is not going to boost your creativity in any way shape or form.

Try redirecting the mental energy that you expend on hating me, into actually producing an

    ORIGINAL MUSICAL COMPOSITION.

    Thanks for watching.

    Take Care, Best Wishes.

And Remember. ALL JUDGEMENT IS SELF-JUDGEMENT.

i.e You "THINK" you HATE me, but you really, you just HATE YOURSELF.

And if you believe that. I've got a bridge to sell you in Conneticut.... lol

    :-)
