  • Heilig, heilig, heilig, Gott, du bist heilig.

    3. Uns allen leuchtet dein freundlich Angesicht.

Groß ist Christi Gnade, groß die Liebe Gottes

und die Gemeinschaft in des Geistes Licht.

  • we used a clip of this song in a recent podcast. (i think it's in the one about the birth of Jesus called "haystack" - it's our youtube channel) i so LOVE this version. beautiful!

    blessings,

    amy

  • Could anyone help me with the female singer in this? Surely she didn't go unnamed, but I don't even see her listed in the boxed set. I'd really appreciate it.

  • Hey guys lets talk about religion on the internet! That can never go poorly.

  • I love this rendition of the this hymn! Its beautiful!

  • why are people arguing here? this could be a place of rest and worship.. why prevent that?

  • feel like finishing the bible

  • Beautiful!!!

  • santo santo santo

  • Ah, this is by far the best rendition I have ever heard of this song. I never really used to care about this song one way or another, but now, hearing Stevens's version--and his voice is just so full of emotion, raw, true--it means so much more to me.

  • beautiful! I love the vocal harmony and the triplet rhythm in the guitar against a duple rhythm in the vocal melody!!!

  • lol catholics and Protestants have banded together in recent years to take on moral issues, issues that have showed that both groups are more alike than they thought.

  • heaven's going to sound just like this.

  • Read Psalm 148 all of creation worships God......read the Bible you will be amazed.....trees clap...mountains bow down....all of creation Praises God .......we are all filled with all in all....His Name is Jesus King Of Kings King of the Universe....nothing was created without Him.......In Christ there is no Evil......evil exists in the hearts and minds of men that choose to have their own way.....outside of the Mind Of Christ we are lost.......God is Love....Love is God......He is Light..

  • @thelamb777 "Fastidious ignormaous"? Well, look at someone's fancy new dictionary! But as usual, people don't practice what they claim to preach.

  • @thelamb777 I'm amazed you find it necessary to actually defend your completely wrong transcription. This is a really old song and the lyrics are well-known. It's song and sight.

  • @eweclidgee And with the "Ah ah ah's" I was just being clever.

  • @eweclidgee your a prick

  • @dorone11 Takes one to know one.

  • @dorone11 Also it's "you're" as in "you are a prick". Not "your" as in "your spelling is retarded."

  • fuck all religions. religions are always absolute, thus bad. ppl who still believe in shit that some jerks said thousands of years ago must be completely stupid & not sure of themselves. cause back then 95% of the population couldn't write and read. so it was pretty easy to trick them by saying "if you dont do what i say you will go to hell (or whatever is similar to that)..blabla you'll be punished". religious ppl should better start believing in themselves instead of a "divine being".

  • @h0olaman

I'm curious. Why does absolute=bad? The sun is absolutely hot and that's certainty not a bad thing. If it wasn't, we would all be dead. The universe is full of absolute things. Why should its creator be any different?

  • @MrJRwow hey man i had a really bad day that day. now that i read it again, i realize how offensive it was, yet the content is still true imo. but i shouldve said it differently. more eloquently.

to your question: by absolute i mean not open to negotiations. you have to do what they say and behave how they want you to behave, or you'll go to hell (or church and god abandons you). if you really wanna know how i think about religion and its controversies, ill write you an email with good arguments

  • @h0olaman

please do. I would love to hear your thoughts.

  • Hey buddy. Sometimes things don't make a whole lot of sense at the time were going through them, But in retrospect we have 20/20 vision. Time will tell everything. But the minute the author walks on stage the play is over. He will make Himself known. To some He will be the most beautiful sight, to others that day will be most dreadful. Everyday we wake up He gives us something we don't deserve- a chance to turn to Him. Your right. DONT turn to religion. Make Jesus your life. Our only hope.

  • For anyone who desires a biblical understanding of the gospel and salvation, I would highly recommend checking out the scribd website that is listed on my channel.

  • Merciful and Mighty. mmm..God, You alone are good. I love this song.

  • It's "Early in the morning our song shall rise to thee."

  • @MarthaH605, yep, and it also sounds like Sufjan is singing "There is a sign at the SIGHT of Thee." (But, hey, that could just be my ears).

  • @KedricVarangia I am wondering how you have come to that conclusion about Christianity. Legalism is actually nowhere present in what is the actual Christian Church (meaning what sprung from the New Testament) because to be a Christian quite literally means to be a "Follower of Jesus Christ". The legalism of the Old Testament wasn't sufficient anymore, thus Christ's sacrifice on the cross. We are no longer saved by our works, but by Grace through faith. Ephesians 2:8-9 and Romans 6: 12-15

  • @lvans010 "We are no longer saved by our works"? We were never saved by our works. Those in the old testament who were justified were justified by faith. After all, Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as faith. There were legalists in both the old and new testaments, and God always condemned this. It's stunning to me how much dispensationalism has infected God's visible people.

  • Wow....what an amazing song =)

  • This isn't a new song, it was written in the 1800's by John Dykes and Reginald Heber, but it is done in a modern style. Well done!

  • @dylansnodgrass Right. I sang it in church all the time as a child.

  • Psalm 42 3-6: "Day and night I have only tears for food, while my enemies continually taunt me, saying, 'Where is this God of yours?' My heart is breaking as I remember how it used to be: I walked among the crowds of worshipers, leading a great procession to the house of God, singing for joy and giving thanks amid the sound of a great celebration! Why am I discouraged? Why is my heart so sad? I will put my hope in God! I will praise him again-- my Savior and my God!..."
  • @hannahhhmarie which version is that?

  • Wow... Why must everyone bring up this discussion at all? I am not a Christian by any means nor am I religious at all but I love this man's music. He sings so soulfully and beautifully about what he believes that it's extremely refreshing to listen to by anyone of any religion. Just love the music....

  • Christians fighting...never thought I'd see the day! teehee

  • Beauty, love and goodness..... Combined with the brilliance of Sufjan. If you have a problem with that, than I have a problem with you.... Thanks yet again, Mr Stevens....

  • No offense to anyone. I think we all have a right to believe what we believe, but everyone needs to know that Jesus is Love. If we have Jesus there's no reason to have conflict and separation to begin with...

  • I am completely atheist, however, I still find the idea that someone can have such faith, without it disrupting peace, as faith so often does, comforting.

  • @thelamb777 It also happens to be pushed by people who would rather just go do some real good in the world, instead of sitting around arguing semantics. Go feed some hungry people or build a house for a homeless man, Mr. Internet Crusader.

  • My favorite part is where we all grew up, swallowed our pride, and stopped saying my Jesus can beat up your Jesus.

  • @thelamb777 .........awwe..... probably true enough that most christian unity movements are totally wrong and done for all the wrong motives(catholic amung them)...........but.......ultimately all true christians are brothers and sisters saved by the grace of God. human institutions will always fall, and a lot of churches(of any sect(breth uniting, bapp aog) are just that......a human creation........it is Christs unity of brothers and sisters that will survive the test if time.(Christs Church)

  • @thelamb777

No, i think molarcoaster was talking about how the disunity of having denominations, even if in pursuit of truth, still can be an opportunity for the pride of man....as for all churches that use the old test and new test. and not the apocrypha or anything else, they should have nothing but love and compassion for another.

  • @thelamb777 Yes, well, we'll see what you think when you get to heaven and find a whole lot of people you didn't expect to see there. ;-)

  • @thelamb777 sorry.. the catholic church is satanic?? care to.. elaborate on that...massive statement? :P

  • @thelamb777...

  • @thelamb777 You must be confused. Someone with ecumenalist views wants the different demoninations of christianity to cooperate, which certainly isn't satanic. So, to call another denomination or view of Christianity "satanic" doesn't seem very Christian in and of itself. Oh, and Pope John Paul II said that ecumenalism isn't all that bad. Just saying.

  • @molarcoaster Amen. We all love the same God, and this is a beautiful song of worship to him. I say we enjoy it and worship, and save the theological attacks for classrooms or facebook statuses.

  • Wow... all the hate going on in the comments here. It makes me sad. Beautiful song.

  • The song brings an amusing contrast to the comments about it....

  • What a beautiful song. God bless you, Sufjan Stevens. (:

  • @rbh1138 sorry pal, but Catholics are indeed Christians. Not only are we Christians, but we are the only Christians. Protestants came after the Catholics (AKA why they are called the PROTESTants.). Don't you think The One God wanted only One True Religion? rather than the 2000 different christian sects that their are today? As for the priest forgiving of someones sins, the power is past through God mate, please dont criticize a religion which you truly dont understand. God Bless

  • @lilsnidesorioles being a calvinist, it hurts me that you think you catholics are the only ones who'll go to heaven. catholicism isn't a religion, it's a church. big point missed here. i really don't mean to offend you but your approach won't help your church's rep.

  • @Saradostra Hey, I'm a Catholic and I think other Christians will go to Heaven.

    Everyone deserves to go to Heaven if they don't do bad things to others and follow God's laws and such. >>;;

  • @Konata101 nobody deserves to go to Heaven... That's the beauty of grace. That while we were STILL sinners...Christ died for us.

  • @Saradostra it is a religion. it has different beliefs therefore it is a religion.you obviously have no idea. are you telling a catholic that whats right and wrong. i know better than you.

  • @pkdukesnides1 choose hate and ignorance if you wish but that's not christian. i thought christianity is about love, tolerance and other nice things but if you think you're superior to others and that people who don't praise Mary and the saints are dumb, maybe you really have a different religion. get a dictionary and manners please. i didn't mean to offend you, try to rethink your opinion about free speech.

  • @lilsnidesorioles Here is what Eknath Easwaran has to say about this subject:

"All mystics speak the same language, for they come from the same country. – Louis-Claude de Saint-Martin

What we are all looking for ... is infinite wisdom, infinite joy, infinite love. ... Though different religions call it by different names, the goal is always the same. ... No matter what they call it, all the great religions point to the same supreme goal. "

  • I can't wait for Christmas :)

  • what 6 people would dislike this?!

  • gives me chills

  • Why don't we all enjoy the song for what it is? I'm sick of a religous war over Sufjan's music. I'm sure he didn't compose it to be fought over in its meaning. If it speaks to your heart enjoy it. If it speaks to your soul cherish it but don't thump my head or thump the heads of others if your view are different from one. We have our right to have our views.

  • @TheRyrybear I totally agree, I'm muslim, and I love this song...

  • @mickeycartable This song is about the trinity thats completely against your god then your probably not a very good Muslim.

  • @RingLord3 my God is the same that christians God...muslims believe in Jesus in case you don't know... I don't think you have any right to tell a muslim if he is a good muslim or not ;)

  • @mickeycartable No your god is not my God my God is the Father Son and Holy spirit. My God is merciful and Just because the dept has been paid. Your god is not I will not debate what you won't accept and yes I do know Muslims believe in Jesus but so do the devils and demons of hell.

  • @RingLord3 whatever, you can think whatever you want, I know who I believe in, I know I believe in bible, but anyway, it's not this song's subject, le's listen and stop debating on what you know better than me about what I believe in.

  • @mickeycartable and what does that mean you beleive in the bible? The bible states that Jesus Christ is the Son of God your a muslim how can you beleive that?

  • @RingLord3 I believe in some part, but not all.

I'm trying to be tolerant with peoples of other religions.

You know if I believe in God, and if you believe in God, it's obviously the same, like there is one God. And we don't know what he looks like to say "no this is my God, and not your !"

(I'll write in the next message, no place)

  • @mickeycartable Your so right! there is one God. But to say that you can make Him look like whatever you want is idolatry plain and simple. God has made clear who He is through the Bible and if you want to say that God is something different, that's fine, but don't think your worshiping the one true God that created us, and loves us, and sent His Son Jesus to pay for OUR sin so that we can enjoy a personal relationship with Him! He is a PERSON, not an idea one can just make up in his mind.

  • @Dustinalker He's not a person, he said ,I forgot where, that he looks nothing like a human, or like something whe've ever seen. but I think I see what you're talking about.

  • @RingLord3 Even polytheists believe in God, but they put others. Sikhs believe in one god, and it's the same as our God, otherwise it means you believe in more than one God. So it's kinda offensive when you say that I don't believe in God, cause for me it's like you say I don't believe in anything.

  • please friends and fiends alike, let us elevate our verbiage...no more profanities brothers and sisters. civility.

  • The problem arises when people are looking at two different versions of Jesus.

  • All that being said however, sammyboy34 has every right to claim a relationship with Christ Jesus the Saviour, Messiah. NO ONE can say anything to deny him that right which God Himself died to give him. If you reject Sammyboy as a not a Child of God, than you reject the Crucifixion. Take care in what you say in order that you do not turn anyone from the Gospel of Christ.

  • Anyone discussing anything other than this video/song is posting spam.

  • The relationship is built upon scripture?

  • Super cool rendition of this song. Who cares about mistakes in the video- just enjoy the song. Thanks (thelamb777) for putting this up- nicely done- I really enjoyed it.

  • This song alone instills faith within even the biggest of non-believers.

  • Unbelievable.

  • Sufjan, if you ever read this.....you constantly astound me.

Unbelievable music. Keep doing Christian music man. Keep following God.

  • Message from God, " Stop kissing my ass please "

  • this is beautiful!!!

  • mormanism isnt derived from the catholic church its directly from our heavenly father and it is godly christlike and scripural and only if you could be inside of one of our temples you would feel the spirit and there would be no doubt in your mind that it was true so dont go saying things that you dont know about

  • @fastpureown1 Satan will come to us as a child of light and will decieve even the very elect. Mormans are decieved! when Jesus comes back everyone will know. EVERYONE. this is fact out of the Bible, the true Bible. it states in revelation that the one who takes away from the Bible will be taken away from and the one who adds will have curses added the same to him. Be careful with youre spirit because you dont have much time.

  • I lost my first patient today. This song helps. Thanks Sufjan.

  • @dafhgadsrhadjtb

This brought tears to my eyes. I'm a nurse..I had many patients last night that were so close to death. This is so calming and this song brings peace to my soul.

Everyone having a debate about Christianity and religion...Please just realize that this season is the time for peace and understanding one another, not for conflict.

  • @dafhgadsrhadjtb I'm so sorry. God be with you

  • the way to hell is broad and many will find it the way to heaven in narrow few will find it Jesus Christ is the ONly! WAY!

  • God bless Sufjan Stevens.....

  • Without Christ there is no way to heaven. If you do not believe in Christ then how can u believe there is such a thing as everlasting life, for without his sacrifice we would have no direct connection to God.

  • this is sooo pretty....I love it

  • I am not a christian and in fact I am not even religiouse, but this song is so beautiful and i love listeneing to it. Although I cant relate to the lyrics, the song does somewhat speak to me

  • @muahahaha101 See you can recognize that something speaks to you about it. You're unsure what but its still there. All you have to do is stay open and receptive like that. Maybe you could at least learn more about christianity. Its a relationship not a religion. Thats the way you have to see it to understand. Just give it a chance. What do you have to lose?

  • @rbh1138 Im positive I will never be christian. I dont mean to offend anyone, but I grew up Jewish and although my family still practices judaism, I dont. I am not an atheist, nor am I part of a religion. I am in no rush to decide, or join any one particular 'group'. I have learned about christianity and I dont agree with much of it. Again, I hope I did not offend you and I hope you know I respect your beliefs; these are just my personal opinions.

  • @muahahaha101 Oh no you haven't offended me. I know how some people have come to view Christ and Christians negatively. They probably got that view because of people that weren't being a good christian or only call themselves that. Jesus is about love and forgiveness and mercy. Its basically a commandment to Love your neighbour as you love yourself. I'm sorry for anyone that may have offended you that called them self a follower of Jesus.

  • @rbh1138 You havn't offended me either and I do not view Christianity negatively. I dont appreciate it when any fanatics bash on me, or try to convert me using guilt. I once passed an advertisment that read "He died for you". the picture behind the words was a bold white cross in front of flames. I thought that was the worse way to push an idea into anyones head. But, I dont let things like that affect my opinion on anything as a whole. I have no negative feelings about christianity, or any rlgn

  • Ps. Don't let my account name fool you. I made this account a long time ago, when I was a diehard metalfan. Yeah I coud definately change the name (if possible). to avoid any possible misconception.

  • @bigbilly666 Whats wrong with your account name? Big Billy and three sixes.

  • Some how I like this version of this song the most, its even more beautiful than the version of hillsong or michael smith for example. I know its probably not a good idea to compare, but this is one of the most beautiful peaces of music I've ever heard. I've listened to this for about 30 times today, and everytime I hear it I feel joy and amazement towards God for giving Sufjan this amazing musical ability.

  • You know. God didn't reveal him/her/itself to us so we could fight over the Good News. You should be ashamed and ask for forgiveness. And you shall have it.

  • @thelamb777 funny then, how Mormons use the KJV.

  • do not sit in judgement, lest you be judged. that is also from the scripture. no one knows who is saved and who is not except the lord God.

  • @marcellamayisokay "Judge not lest ye be judged therefore make righteous judgments." It does not say not to judge it says to judge righteously and there are indicators that can show if someone is saved or not. In the end no you can not tell but you can note how their spiritual walk is going and call them out if they need it. I would be in a really bad place if I didn't have good friends to call me out when I strayed from the path.

  • @lookforthelight You nailed it...

  • To my ear and sentiment in listening to this song numerous times, I view Mr Steven's Lovely redition of this Spiritual classic the best I have heard. The soft musical tones and angelic moods evoked from the two singers are truly heart openning, drawing one close in to his/her true essense. The song transforms my mood, settles my mind, and opens my heart. In each moment I listen to this song, it provides me with all the 'saving' I need, in the now moment. Thank You Sufjan and band.

  • @thelamb777 Why is the KJV the only accurate translation?

  • @Querymonger

It is said to be the most accurately translated from Greek and Hebrew. Which is true, but it still has things lost in translation. If you're really going to study the bible, read more than one good version. My recommendations would be ESV and KJV or NKJV.

Those aren't the only good ones, but stay away from "The Message". It's a good thing to read; as in it makes the Gospel easy to follow. But try to find the most accurate. Best would be to read it in the original languages. ;)

  • @RyanGreenMusic Said by who? I've heard it's the least accurate, and that the NASB or ESV are the best. And NIV is pretty similar to those two word-for-word, so it also must be good.

But obviously, I use multiple translations. Yes, I know about The Message. I've been at this my whole life. xD

  • @thelamb777 Mormonism is derived from Protestantism and Freemasonry. Joseph Smith was a Methodist and was never around Catholic Christians. Catholics who become Masons are in a state of Grave sin and may not receive Holy Communion and may be excommunicated. Most Masons are Southern Baptists.

Mormons use the KJV, which is the (Catholic derived) "church" of England's Bible. SCRIPTURE is built on the Church Jesus founded, the Catholic Church.

  • @thelamb777 Brother, you are so wrong... why are you telling a Mormon what mormons believe? how can they not have a foundation in scripture if their name is derived from their book of scripture? how can you reprimand about KJV when that's the Bible they study, same as you?

  • @thelamb777 Actually, although the Word is indeed fundamental to one's relationship with Jesus Christ, and I agree that the Book of Mormon is NOT Scripture, Mormonism does use the same bible as Protestant denominations. Mormonism is not based on Catholithism, but on the writings of one Joseph Smith during the 1800's, who claimed to be ordained by God. I have no right to say he wasn't, but a lot of what he says contradicts the TRUE Word of God.

  • @thelamb777 Actually the KJV is the least accurate translation of the Hebrew, Greek, and Aramaic texts accepted by most Protestant Churches. Just thought I would put that out there. Everyone should go by what the bible teaches and it says do not add to it or take away from it. That is one of the reason that I have trouble with the mormon church. Joseph Smith added to it.

  • @thelamb777 I see we have a Jack Chick follower here. Think for yourself!

  • @thelamb777

Christ is the Word.....that is all that is important. If they truly believe the Holy Spirit will do His work in their lives. Denomination is very near unimportant, translation little more so, (KJV was translated from Hebrew and Greek at the orders of a wicked king. How about other languages such as Spanish and Chinese etc.

A true scholar knows that you go to the source to translate to a new language.)

Christ is the fulfillment of all scripture. If a man has Christ,he has everything.

  • @sammyboy34 read the Bible, it is a terrible crime to change scripture. The morman bible does just that.

  • @sammyboy34

Revelations 22:18 I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds anything to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book. 19And if anyone takes words away from this book of prophecy, God will take away from him his share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book.

  • @Lassielurv alright...everyone uses this scripture as a way to "disprove" the Book of Mormon, but it couldnt be more wrong. Revelations is the last book in the bible true...but it is NOT CHRONOLOGICAL. Revelations was written before many other books in the bible. so if you use this argument you are also saying that multiple other books within the bible are false.

  • @wiggityfatwack You are using mans logic here and not believing the word of God. I pray you do start believing what God has put in the book

  • @sammyboy34 Hey man, you should research the Mormon faith. It has some extremely flawed teachings. There is time to find the Way. His Way, the only way. I hope you heed this advice dear friend. You are loved.

  • @sammyboy34 compare the mormon bible and the true bible you see that mormon has made jesus believer YOU are a true christian if as yoou said have accepted the lord but I tell you that Mormon and this church is a cult and the bible warns of such deception

  • @gabbe7 a cult? hahahahaha good one

  • @sammyboy34 to be the same as what we are. it adds and takes away from the word of God Jesus was God and man We are only man and will be man for eternity but those who have accepted that Jesus is the one and ONLY way to God will be glorified with God in eternity. This church is a trap for you as a

  • @sammyboy34

Hi Sammyboy. I mean this with all due respect and love. Mormonism and Christianity are not the same thing. You can't be both. Christianity believes in the trinity: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Christians believe there are three persons in ONE God, Mormons don't. Their Jesus is a created being. The Christian God is infinite, always has been, always will be, not created. Christianity has ONE God. Mormonism has many, each with their own planet. Only the Infinite God can save you.

  • @sammyboy34 I am not a member LDS and I agree. Amen.

  • @sammyboy34 I agree with you in Spirit, and I accept you as my brother in Christ. However, I urge you to search deeply into the beliefs of Mormonism and trust in God that He may reveal to you the flaws in the teachings of Joseph Smith and the Book of Mormon. I do not mean to condemn you, and if it comes across that way, please understand that I mean simply to warn you that Mormonism is a wolf in sheep's cloth. Your relationship with Christ requires that you seek truth in His Word alone.

  • Comment removed

  • @sammyboy34 "Christianity is not defined by how you view scripture."

If that is the case, then Christianity can be whatever I want to make it to be. For example, if my relationship with Christ is one where, for instance, he is some being in heaven who helps me to commit murder by infusing me with holy power; that would be valid under your definition, correct? This definition is thus necessarily chaotic and nonsensical really. Relativity when not grounded in truth is then anything you want. Chaos

  • @sclimk Christianity is indeed defined by how you view scripture, I think where he got mislead, was that if you really take scripture literally, you will be very different people. Not by violence so much as by cold calculating imperialism. Christianity is the ultimate theocracy, good enough on the outside to lure you in, harsh enough on the inside to keep your from escaping. No other idea can be considered, science becomes the enemy, and your mind is trapped in the 1st century. Good luck.

  • @KedricVarangia Your interaction with intelligent Christians must be quite limited if you think "science becomes the enemy."

  • @sclimk I don't see the original comment but by that one line I'd say @sammyboy34's comment is spot on. Christianity isn't defined by our/anyone's view of scripture. It's defined by God's nature and Christ's example. If it were defined by a human's view (read 'interpretation') then it would be the subjective, formless chaos you speak of.

  • @sammyboy34 The important is that ou know you're christian, I'm muslim chiia, and like you, we are minorities, so others don't consider us like muslims, it's sad..

  • @mickeycartable I don't think you have any right to tell a Christian what the important thing is when you are a Muslim. Who most defiantly believes Christ to be less than who he is.

  • @sammyboy34 I am not a Mormon. I do not agree with many of the teaching of the Church of Latter Day saints. But I deeply and truly respect what you have posted here.

  • I love this song

  • This is one of the most beautiful songs I've heard.

  • shut up.

  • Mormons aren't really christians. Sorry but they believe different then what is in the true christian bible. I'm not against mormons but they aren't christian. I would also say that Chatholics don't follow it either. A man can't forgive you of your sins. Also they worship and pray to people that aren't god. I didn't want to ruffle anyones feathers but the truth is the truth and I can't just ignore certain things.

  • @rbh1138 Jews are also not Christian.

  • @rbh1138 so grateful that God chose you as His mouthpiece and servant to set the record straight and provide us lowly ones with the "real" truth

  • @bermudaman44 Don't be like that. I might offend people but if you think about it its true. The bible says to not add or take away from the bible so that means the Mormons aren't true Christians plus they believe Jesus and "the devil" are brothers. Equal. That is not biblical. Its false to the bible.

  • Kids who are atheists and who try to slam christianity on the internet are ridiculous and need to get a hobby. You kids are just looking for attention and think your special.

  • Traditional Christianity is a monotheistic religion because God has three manifestations or 'persons'. There are Christian sects like the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (which I'm part of) and the Jehovah's Witnesses who don't believe in the Trinity. How we see it is that God is one God, or one in purpose, while there are three distinct beings. It's still monotheistic though.

  • i don't get it..... so how is christianity a monotheistic religion?

    sounds polytheistic to me....

  • christians believe there is one God. if there are more that one then who made those ones then. Trinity is just an explanation f three parts that we use to understand God better. its God incarnate in man through Jesus Christ, God the Fatherly figure and God working through the spirit such as conscience and other non physical components in life

  • I like most of the lyrical changes that Sufjan used in this song... but the line "there is a sign at the sight of thee" (which is definitely what he is singing - i have the lyrics that came with his christmas album) simply doesn't make sense to me. in the original its just "holy, holy, holy" repeated again.

  • I love this we played it every Sunday when I was growing up. I always feel closer to our Lord and get peace from it. I listen when ever I miss my Mother or am feeling a little down he will take care of me. I know that.

  • Thanks for posting this - it's nicely put together but in addition to the Song/Sun mentioned below there is also another one later the lyrics are: "There is a sign at the sight of thee" instead of side - just in case if you decide to redo it at some point.

  • Don't rely on lyrics databases but listen to the song. Besides, "sight of Thee" makes no sense. Seeing the Lord God Almighty would certainly not be a "sign" but the real thing; however, Jesus is recognized as a sign of God and is seen "at the side" of God.

  • sight of thee would mean sight of you. thou is your.

  • Right, you make my point, besides no one can look upon God and live so "sight of Thee" is senseless. The sign at the SIDE of Thee is Jesus who sits at the right hand of God.
