I'd love to know what the belay device is used for. I mean - there's about 15 inch of rope after it which is then again tied to the belt... what for? U guys don't look like u don't wgat u're doin'...

you didnt see the rope in their back in the back pac !!!
So you mean that after jumping they untie the knob and then belay / abseil to the ground with the rope coming from their back pacs?
yeah thas rigth !!!
Isn't it kinda hard to do - untying a knob with one hand? Since the other hand has to hold the part of the rope that comes out of the belay device?
That's a Grigri hommie. Ultimately hands-free when hanging on the rope. Simply untie and rappel.

I'm planning pretty much the same with a 15 Meter (50 Feet) Bridge here in Germany. Good to know I'm not the only one doin' it that way...
