Personally, I hated Orphan. The first phase was frustratingly hard and felt unbalanced, despite having an interesting, symbolic appearance. As for the second, why am I fighting the sun from Teletubbies? It probably had some symbolic meaning, but that's not excuse to be pathetically easy. Ugh, it just felt anticlimactic and disappointing along with the poor ending. Xenoblade and Dark Souls have better final bosses which are hard and have good symbolism.
@alabzam It was somewhat the same as fighting Yu Yevon in FFX. The stages before the actual final boss were harder. Maybe it symbolized the fragility of Orphan. After all, she was made to be destroyed.
@AndyDC1994 If you mean the title screen music, it's called "The Promise". Another similar version of this song with vocals in it is called "Serah's Theme".
Similar to how Sazh kept referring to Barthandelus as Dysley? Simply because they know her birth name doesn't mean they're going to stop calling her by her nickname.
2:14 - 2:32 Is it just me or does that sound like the main theme of the Shawshank Redemption movie. Lol, my favourite final boss theme, yes... Even more than Dancing Mad, One Winged Angel or even The Extreme (all great themes too though).
@SuperSugarholic wow really stop trying to start stuff punk. and i actually downloaded the whole ffxiii soundtrack and it was only a joke sorry if it offended maybe you are the orphan get a way from me CREEP!!!!!!jkjk im bored.
See, Orphan wanted them to destroy him with Ragnarok. Such force would obliterate Cocoon instantly. But instead, they took down Orphan with their own strength, leaving plenty of time for Ragnarok to catch Cocoon out of the sky.
So really, the Orphan battle is him trying to force them to resort to Ragnarok instead of taking him down...gently.
"Sat poisoning Cocoon from the inside, waiting for someone to come and destroy you. Sure, you think the end of the world is salvation. All you care about is death's release. So take it, and leave the rest of us alone. We don't think like that. When we think there's no hope left, we keep looking until we find some. Maybe Cocoon is past saving, but it still our home, we'll protect it or die trying. We live to make the impossible possible! That is our Focus!" -Clair Farron (aka Lightning)
The Extreme and One Winged-Angel Advent Children version are better final boss themes than this. Even Yu Yevon's final boss theme is better than this. Just my two cents
@justincaps Id go as far as saying that both Born Anew and Fighting Fate are better than any iteration of One-Winged Angel, in fact, The Extreme and Dancing Mad are better too.
Not to say OWA is bad, it's great, but i think these are better
Your grades are horrible and you go to the mail to get rid of them. But your younger sibling gets to them first and is ready to tell your parents! This song starts playing.

If you ask me, this pwns Born Anew.
I don't mind final boss themes with lyrics in them, hell I love OWA and Dancing Mad but, this is just fantastic and perfect every which way.
It's IMO the best FF final boss theme ever.
The piano part is amazing too.
