alright you can get the ecm flashed/chipped and put out around 260 hp and around the same in torque.. and the 2.5 is waaay more reliable than the 2.0t.. jus saying
Hey nice car. I own a 08 Rabbit and my engine jumps an extra 500 rmp at higher rpms. (3700+) Is that normal for rabbits to do that? And yes my foot is all the way off the gas when I shift. But does your car do that??
what are you people talking about. A rabbit compared to a GTI. WTF. Even if you turbo a rabbit it will only keep up with GTI. What are you people reading. Save that money and you will get a GTI. People swear like they know what they are talking about. Close your mouths.
I had a rabbit and I traded it in for a gti, loved it ever since with no regrets. plus the gti has more potential and its a 6 speed which is more beneficial to me than a 5 speed
Not nessesarily. If you're like me and like to mod your cars the GTI is the only choice. 2.5's are tough to mod, and without a serious build you're not going to get close to the numbers a chipped 2.0 will make. even the MPGs are better on a 2.0T. Having said that, the 2.5 is a great base engine with good power and reliability.
True 2.5 is a really great engine choice compared to the competition. I don't have a car just yet but i'm plannin on an '08 2.5. Which I want to mod the hell out of lol.
I have 07 MK5 GTI. Your talking crazy. spoken by a person who cant get gti. if you can, theres no question. the money you put into a rabbit will never compare to the money you put into a GTI. APR stage 1 program is $599 that puts HP at 250 and TQ at 270. Try to put $600 into a rabbit. you will maybe get 10-15 hp.
I wonder why they don't offer that 5 pot in Europe. We loved the Audi 5 cylinder a lot over here! VW now makes that 5 cylinder in Mexico. If you want it in the rabbit, they have to ship it to Germany to implant it into the Golf and send it as a Rabbit over to the USA.
Get a GTi, believe me, u wont be disappointed. Plus, the new GTi is so mod friendly. With 600 bones can, you can up the stock boost pressue (13 psi) to about 20 psi. That translates to a solid 40 HP
i was gonna get the gti, dont do that, the rabbit has a stronger engine, if you turbo the rabbit itll be stronger then the gti, plus all the money youll have saved from not buying a gti would put you up for 2 or 3 more mods afterwards
sounds almost like my 5Cylinder Audi coupe GT5e. Whats your golf , i mean rabbit developing? had it the Rolling road yet? has it helped on power output at all?
my 1987 Audi series2 coupe is developing 170bhp with iTG filter, TSR big valve head, piper cam, and full competition exhaust.

Yeah better to get the 2.5 than the gti. It only has 30hp less and has an extra cylinder.

If you're planning to do aftermarket mods, the rabbit's inline 5 will probably give you more power in the long run.
