Well I believe Carl's penalty is fair only because Kurt Busch was not suspended for his 2007 pit infraction where he almost killed Tony's jackman. However this being the pace NASCAR should have never suspended Spencer, Musgrave or Harvick for their infractions which were lighter than then the infractions Kurt and Carl committed.
If they couldn't suspend Kurt then not suspending Carl is the right thing.

Nobody is asking a simple question- What if Keselowski's car went through the fence into the crowd? What if Keselowski had been killed? I'm not condoning what Edwards did......but I will say that Keselowski has built a fairly unadmirable reputation for himself in the sport to this point. And when you show a lack of respect, you get a lack of respect in return. And NASCAR doesn't do a particularly good job of policing incidents on the racetrack. I don't think Keselowski did anything in this particular race to deserve that, but his reputation may have caught up with him.

when have you ever seen a blowover at atlanta? yea the speeds do get tp about 200mph, but not where brad flipped, he was doing 178 at point of contact... when have you ever seen a car flip in nascar going that speed?
DW is right about the wing but it doesnt cause a pocket of air what happens is the air pushes on the wing lifting the car up, and once the car gets a little air, the roof flaps dont have a chance because theres so much pressure on the wing which pushes the whole car up and over

@mmsamma nascar drivers deal with just as much or more g force than any other motorsport, its just more downward and to the side rather than side to side like on a roady, secondly, they use completely different engines and transmissions so the rpm is a random thing to throw in there. and nascar does use rain tires in the nationwide series on road courses, racing on rain on an oval would be a bad idea, the tires would chunk up and they wouldnt last, stock car racing doesnt work well in the wet

I share the sentiment of those who say that this type of "payback" is reprehensible. Regardless of Keselowski's history, and I'm not saying he's not without a reputation, we can't look at a situation like this and justify it. Drivers are at risk. Fans are at risk. And it also plays into the stereotype that some people "just watch for the crashes."

These flips have happened even with the spoilers on the cars, so who knows if putting them back on will really prevent these things from happening. As for this one, I have now lost any respect I had for Carl. At least when Brad did it to him at Talladega, they were battling for the win on the last lap. This time, they weren't even on the same lap. And all Carl got was probation for the next three races.

at 1:13 you can see the rear decklid trying to lift up, which normally wouldnt happen when a car spins. Brad already had damage from earlier contact with the wall and clearly the decklid was affected. if you look closely you can see it trying to lift up, and creating a sizable opening between the bumper and the decklid. just a theory but ramming 160 mph air in the truck will aid in the lift. also, the spoiler wont change this. cars will always flip over.

Well I believe Carl's penalty is fair only because Kurt Busch was not suspended for his 2007 pit infraction where he almost killed Tony's jackman. However this being the pace NASCAR should have never suspended Spencer, Musgrave or Harvick for their infractions which were lighter than then the infractions Kurt and Carl committed.
If they couldn't suspend Kurt then not suspending Carl is the right thing.

If NASCAR had been suspending drivers like Kurt for his pit infraction then they'd take it seriously and if it had been up me Kurt would have got suspended in 2007 and Carl would have got suspended this year. However Brad dose have a habit of pissing people off and I notice that to.

Nobody is asking a simple question- What if Keselowski's car went through the fence into the crowd? What if Keselowski had been killed? NASCAR would be set back 30 years if a driver and/or 50 fans died after a douche like Edwards pulled a total dick move like he did. His driving was inexcusable and he should be suspended or banned.

I'm not condoning what Edwards did......but I will say that Keselowski has built a fairly unadmirable reputation for himself in the sport to this point. And when you show a lack of respect, you get a lack of respect in return. And NASCAR doesn't do a particularly good job of policing incidents on the racetrack. I don't think Keselowski did anything in this particular race to deserve that, but his reputation may have caught up with him.

@Firefox5498 KrashLousy wrecked Edwards 3 times in '09,'10... Talladega, Memphis, and Atlanta.. the reason Edwards was 150 laps down?.. crashed out by KrashLousy... KrashLousy has also taken out Hamlin and Logano 2 times each and is the #1 wreck causer in Cup.. Edwards enforced a 3 strikes you're out policy and Krash'o deserved it... anyone pissed about the car in flight should be pissed at NASCAR who mandated that crappy car lifting wing.NCAR shoulda put themselves on probation 4 the wing.

when have you ever seen a blowover at atlanta? yea the speeds do get tp about 200mph, but not where brad flipped, he was doing 178 at point of contact... when have you ever seen a car flip in nascar going that speed?
DW is right about the wing but it doesnt cause a pocket of air what happens is the air pushes on the wing lifting the car up, and once the car gets a little air, the roof flaps dont have a chance because theres so much pressure on the wing which pushes the whole car up and over

@mmsamma nascar drivers deal with just as much or more g force than any other motorsport, its just more downward and to the side rather than side to side like on a roady, secondly, they use completely different engines and transmissions so the rpm is a random thing to throw in there. and nascar does use rain tires in the nationwide series on road courses, racing on rain on an oval would be a bad idea, the tires would chunk up and they wouldnt last, stock car racing doesnt work well in the wet

I share the sentiment of those who say that this type of "payback" is reprehensible. Regardless of Keselowski's history, and I'm not saying he's not without a reputation, we can't look at a situation like this and justify it. Drivers are at risk. Fans are at risk. And it also plays into the stereotype that some people "just watch for the crashes."

These flips have happened even with the spoilers on the cars, so who knows if putting them back on will really prevent these things from happening. As for this one, I have now lost any respect I had for Carl. At least when Brad did it to him at Talladega, they were battling for the win on the last lap. This time, they weren't even on the same lap. And all Carl got was probation for the next three races.

i dont know jack about nascar, but that was intentional. It is sooo clear and the video footage just shows it from a couple angles. No doubt about it, that guy meant to move that car at 195mph . . . you do realize that at 195mph a stunt like that will cause a wreck. This isnt a video game where you have lives.

I noticed something about this incident.
at 1:13 you can see the rear decklid trying to lift up, which normally wouldnt happen when a car spins. Brad already had damage from earlier contact with the wall and clearly the decklid was affected. if you look closely you can see it trying to lift up, and creating a sizable opening between the bumper and the decklid. just a theory but ramming 160 mph air in the truck will aid in the lift. also, the spoiler wont change this. cars will always flip over.

This is totally ridiculous. Was it cool when Brad wrecked Carl? This would have never happened if they kept the old rear spoiler. You can pretty much blow on the car and it will flip over with the current design. First Carl, then Joey, then Newman? If I recall, Carl didn't run his mouth when Brad flipped him over. 1.) Brad didnt wreck carl if your talking about dega, once again brad held his line.
2.) The cars have ALWAYS blown over, just ask elliot sadler, tony stewart, rusty wallace, ect.
3.) This could just as easilly have happened with the old rear spoiler.
4.) Joey flipped because he was struck and someone run underneath his car, it wasnt anything aerodynamic, thus shouldnt be part of the arguement
5.) Their running their mouths because it was the same two drivers involved again.
