From the Video.. it looks like only about 50 people where there...and now that Obama is in office.. you still want to blame it on BUSH...... So is it still going to be built.. I guess that's ok if Obama wants it there too then right?
Steph: There may be other alternatives - but this case is considered - matured by extended deliberative thought by the city council - so I think you should respect it's verdict. That is my opinion. Why they want so much space I don't know, but the embassy shall stand for decades to come, and it's not the american way to settle with a little.
I think we shall give them what they want - and I think it is a bit egocentric of you westenders to keep whining on forever. That's all I have to say.:o)
Huseby forrest is'nt "a large public park". It's a overgrown area in the "best westside" of town, not much frequented by people. Just a place a few use to let their dogs take a shit. The neigbours has accsess other green areas and they have lots of big gardens. But the "best society" in the westend don't accept much intruding into their life. That's why there few asylum reception centres in the west part of town. Usually the eastside have to take the burdons. This time it is the westsides turn.
I use this "overgrown area", or forest as it is also called, several times a week, and i usually see lots of people there. Huseby school uses it frequently, training groups from Njård use it, and dog owners walk there and children play there. As the speaker said: America is welcome to build their embassy on the other side of the same forest, where an almost empty building is sited. Why can't you see that there are alternatives?why do you need 40 acres in a city with 0,6 million people?
There are other conciderations to concider than the neigbours (& they have access to other green areas near by). It will move a potensial terror target out of the central city, and make it safer for the embassy. This case has been trough a long democratical political process in the Oslo City Council and the decition was to let USA build the emb. at the Huseby forrest. Well, I think this decition should be respected, & just because of that I should be "clensed from the country"? Are U mad?
Where do I sign the petition to request Obama to stop this? As a citizen of the U.S.A. this is shameful. We need to learn to be better neighbors to our fellow global citizens.
wow what a bad case of bush derangement syndrome you have . I wish you well and hope ou will have a speedy recovery . does the child in the video understand or is he simply an other usefull idiot of the left?

Norwegian politicians must be asleep in the snow. Why offer a large public park to an embassy? Why do the US embassy need more space in Oslo than in Kabul? Of course they don't. You have been fooled, Norway.
Cleansing the country of people like you would do more to protect us against terrorism than ten thousand miles of blast barriers and razor wire fencing
How deeply sad the speaker states "her government follows Obama". Here's a tip for the Oslo government; Don't follow Obama, he's driving the U.S. economy into the dirt. The U.S. is no longer fit to be followed...
Five years ago, I was on the first meeting concerning the removal of the US embassy to Huseby. One concerned women finally stood up in the crowd, raised her voice, and questioned Horntvedt: If a bomb eventually goes of, taking my childrens life in the explosion, where do I go? Do I take refuge on your doorstep?
Everybody was silent for a long while. The question, no matter how relevant, was left unanswered!

Enough bullshit talk. The americans must build their embassy somewhere, and now it's decided. Case closed. Live with it.
