Many sites within the atria are generating their own electrical impulses, leading to irregular conduction of impulses to the ventricles that generate the heartbeat. This irregular rhythm can be felt when palpating a pulse Rhythm - Irregularly irregular
Rate - usually 100-160 beats per minute but slower if on medication
who ever has a heart beat like this please be persistant with the doctors to check harmones. My A-Fib nearly killed me several times and has left me with a slurred (not too bad) speech. My words don't come out fast enough like they used to! I was put on coumadin and thank goodness i am off of that stuff. now I am on a baby aspirin a day. I was 21 when A-fib started and I was 42 when Dr.s controlled it. All due from hyperthyroidism.
@choirguy210 I had hyperthyroidism that caused my heart to go into an irregular heart beat for years. No one knew why my heart would always go into this crazy beat. Too much harmones going through my body and it affected my heart. I'm now alright. I just hope I don't have a stroke someday. I almost died 3 times. The third serious attack I was working and was rushed to the ER and than that's when they did a check on my thyroid levels.
Intermittent unmanaged AF is bad - blood pooling in atria can facilitate clot formation, then, once back to a normal rhythm, a clot could be kicked out into circulation to possibly block an artery, perhaps in the lungs, brain, or heart - PE, stroke, or heart attack: bad, bad, or bad.
Most palpitations will be from PACs or PVCs; AF more commonly causes fatigue/tiredness or lightheadedness/faint feeling.
Treatment: cardioversion, anticoagulant, or ablation/pacemaker.
Have had this for years - at first just thought it was some sort of muscle spasm then one day it stuck arnd long enough to get it on an EKG. Been pretty much controlled but don't mess with it. Rarely kills you but it is a MAJOR cause of strokes. Several people I know discovered it after having a stroke. I was real lucky. Can be miserable when it sticks arnd as your energy and stamina disappears even to the point of difficulty having your hands above your head to wash your hair.
I had an echocardiogram today, and my heart beat in the middle of the screen looked similar to this...I get episodes of a racing pulse, chest pains, shortness of breath, dizziness and the feeling like I'm going to faint. The lady who did my echocardiogram looked a little worried. I tried to ask her what was up, but she quickly said, nothing...and went on with the rest of the ecg. Look back on this and see that it's similar. I'm only 23 I shouldn't be having heart problems :(
im looking for some help . im sure i have psvt . i have suffered from anxiety for past 2 years and this has only started since my anxiety got bad . im looking for some help on this as i am really worried
@allangee1873 - Do you drink a lot? Do you or have you taken anabolis steroids in the past? i ask you this because i was hospitalized back in 2008 for A-Fib. I spent a whole weekend with my heart beating the same way. i was told that it was supposed to go away on its own but if it didnt they would have to shock me to kind of restart my heart. The doctor told me that alcohol and steroids were a huge part of the problem i was having. if your worried just go to a cardiologist! Good luck!
@willy1979 on the weekends i drink thats when it seems to happen . not all the time it has not got a pattern it goes when it wants. it only started when i became bad with anxiety. i had an ecg and all was ok so i dont think its damaging my heart. some stories you read online about it are scary when it mentions death lol its like i bent over and it triggered .. went from normal to meggggaa rapid then would just click back to normal. is ths what you experienced ?
@allangee1873 I'm in optometry school and am just now learning about arrhythmia and EKG patterns. It sounds like you might have experienced something called paroxysmal atrial tachycardia. It involves a sudden increase in heartbeat that randomly comes and goes, and it can be triggered by anxiety and by alcohol. Nothing we've been told so far indicates serious danger, and it's correctable with medication, but DON'T use me as your source; talk to your doctor/cardiologist about it.
@AstralDragoon yeah its like . few times maybe day after i have been drinking alcohol or my anxiety is high i have bent over and (click) into this episode then after a few mintutes clicks back to normal .. had ecgs and all was ok
I didn't know that heart monitors plays songs.

oh and the STOP! opens and the electric go though and closes again!

Atrial Fibrilaltion is a ryhtom where the electric is blocked from going to AV node and there is a STOP! in it the risk of blood block is 46 hours!

when i see atrial fibrillation i always check to see if all the leads are placed on the person correctly because most of the time it is just artifact
orthelj2346 3 months ago
when the heart is in AF the heart artuim cant open effective and can cause blood clot. this raise the ris of stroke and bleeding in the brain.

atrial fibrilaltion of AF of afib is the most common arrhythmia abormal heart rhytnm. see elara systerms for information.

Digoxin!
BoeingBonkers 1 year ago
@BoeingBonkers or maybe some cartizem?
rostifer28 1 year ago
@BoeingBonkers nope, hehe. Flecanide, sotalol, amiodirone(sp)tikosyn. Digoxin slows the heart rate...does nothing for the rhythm.
andie361 1 year ago
@andie361 ohh...Digoxin also makes the heart beat more effectively (stronger)
