DO you mean to tell me that wasn't Mark Walberg AKA Marky Mark singing this? THE HELL YOU SAY!!!! rubish. that was him .... LET IT BE KNOWN. (insert Evil Laugh here)
Listen people here is the low down... Miljenko Matijevic of Steelheart sang all Mark's parts in the movie including the Hallelujah in the church. If you buy the sound track you will find that Jeff Scott Soto did 3 tracks, Stand Up, Living The Life, Wasted Generation (on the sound track) Mili did the rest of the Steel Dragon tunes (on the sound track). Steel Dragon Credits Zakk Wylde, Matijevic, Soto, Pilson, Bonham, Nick Catanese. I am a VERY reliable source so I hope that clears this up.
@Crystasorrow Actually it is Mark Walberg singing at the beginning of the tryout in the movie. Then Miljenko did the good version and obviously the album version. :)
@mael1996 :/...I have no idea where you got that information but the voice is the same throughout the movie. I wish people would not get this so mixed up. Mark Wahlberg did sing at certain points but I'm pretty sure it wasn't on the tryout scene. Mark lip-synced well, but last I knew, what he truly did actually do was the part where he messed up the new song Reckless later in the movie. His Marky Mark persona came out then. I would know Miljenko's voice anywhere, it's not Mark's.
@Crystasorrow Mark did not sing one song in the entire movie including the Hallelujah in the church scene. If Mark could sing like that do you actually think Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch would have ever happened? He wouldn't have been acting like a Rock Star he would have BEEN a Rock Star. Miljenko Matijevic of Steelheart sang Mark's parts and Jeff Scott Soto also sang on the sound track. This particular song is a Steelheart original that had the arrangement changed a bit for the movie.

@98bonjonjovi Actually, the movie is based on the real story of how Tim Owens, the lead singer of a Judas Priest tribute band got to take over for Rob Halford in the real Judas Priest. Steel Heart is the name of the band who played most of the "Steel Dragon" songs in the movie =)
@98bonjonjovi the movie was actually about when Rob Halford left Judas Priest. The whole thing about Bobby being gay is where that really is magnified. but the singer of steelheat did most of the vocal tracks in this movie along with Jeff Scott Soto.
@JoshtheGuitarist5150 It wasnt only about halford tho. It actually had some skid row references in there. Like the scene where they told chris that he doesnt write the songs he just plays him. That's what happened to sebastian bach from skid row and thats why he left

@killswitchoff No Mark didnt. hehe. He did not sing ONE song. I dont know why people think he did. And Yes Miljenko sang. He was Marks Voice. And Jeff Scott Soto ( ex: Yngwie Malmsteen and Journey ) just to name a few, Was the voice for Bobby Beers. The first Lead Singer in the movie. Mark did NOT sing. Not in the movie, nor in the soundtrack.
@MrAlsaco Nothing fake about it ,except for Marky Mark Wahlberg lip syncing,The movie director went for realism ,thats the real steel heart singer cranking out his song and most of the movie band are real players Zak Wylde (guitar ozzy) Jason Bonham (drums foreigner and Led Zep) and the bass player is from Dokken.

@DOOM666CREW Nope Jeff Scott Soto did the vocals for the singer before Mark Wahlberg's character in the movie. Miljenko does this song, Blood Pollution, Long Live Rock & Roll, the movie version of Reckless, and certain points where Mark Wahlberg's character sings including the concert and audition scenes.
@melton187 That's because this song was written about a real life event that happened to the singer of the 80's metal band Steelheart Miljenko(Michael) Matijevic. The tradgedy that unfolded in in Denver Colorado while opening for Slaughter at the McNichols arena when Mili climbed up on some stage light rigging while playing and the whole thing came down and nearly crushed him to death. Look it up on Wikipedia and read the whole story! AND FUCKIN' CRANK IT BITCH!!!
@Gilbertage2007 TURN UP THE RADIO is all so a BADASS METAL SONG i cant wait for OZZY TO COME TO OTTAWA i am waiting for that day to come HAIL LONG LIVE OZZY FOR WE ARE YOUR METAL GOD SLAVES ... LIGHTS DRUMS BASS GUITAR HEAVY BADASS RIFFS METAL GODS... KICK IT
@drakonimetal Nope, it's Miljenko Matijevic from the band Steelheart. Soto did do some vocals for the vocalist that was in the band before Mark Wahlberg's character though. Miljenko is one of the greatest vocalists in rock in my opinion, very underrated. His work in the 80s/early 90s especially was fantastic. I recommend songs like Sheila, Electric Love Child, Dancin In The Fire, She's Gone, Late For The Party, Everybody Loves Eileen, and such from Steelheart.
Steel Heart was the band that did this song and a few others from the movie. his song was sung by the original singer from steel heart for the movie. Other songs in the movie were done by Zack Wylde who did the guitar for this song.
The original version is good too ... but I have to admit I'm partial to this version. Went to buy it on Itunes but you have to buy the entire cd soundtrack.

@gillmengreen The vocals for this badass song and for Mark's character "Izzy Cole" were done by the legendary singer from 80"s metal band Steelheart Miljenko Matijevic and Jeff Scott Soto does "stand up and shout" and vocals for "Bobby's" character. This song is about his long recovery from the tradgedy that took place in Denver Colorado when they were opening for Slaughter on Halloween night at the McNichols arena. Look it up on Wikipedia and read the whole story! AND FUCKIN' CRANK IT BITCH!!!

Is Soto singing?
drakonimetal 8 months ago
@drakonimetal Nope, it's Miljenko Matijevic from the band Steelheart. Soto did do some vocals for the vocalist that was in the band before Mark Wahlberg's character though. Miljenko is one of the greatest vocalists in rock in my opinion, very underrated. His work in the 80s/early 90s especially was fantastic. I recommend songs like Sheila, Electric Love Child, Dancin In The Fire, She's Gone, Late For The Party, Everybody Loves Eileen, and such from Steelheart.

No Mark Whalberg did not sing in Rocks star, he only lip synched, but he did an amazing job and i understand why you would think he sang ^^

@9sunlotionisgay9 true for the soundtrack. but in the movie they mixed his voice into most songs to let it sound not so far from his own voice...

Steel Heart was the band that did this song and a few others from the movie. his song was sung by the original singer from steel heart for the movie. Other songs in the movie were done by Zack Wylde who did the guitar for this song.

A lot of movies that base around 'fake-bands' this is one of the ones that I believe could have existed.
