LOL the church thinks Halloween is satanic, there wasn't even any evil god in our pagan religion the closest one would be our version of death who is samhain and he wasn't evil he was the warder of the dead. Its basically the religious nuts call things they can't grasp or understand demonic its pathetic. And we never sacrificed humans as the Romans and church used to claim we did sacrifice cows and poultry and that was to protect the other animals.
You are absolutely right! Most all of our holidays that we celebrate now all came from our Celtics and then the catholics STOLE each of them and called them "theirs". The goal of the church (then and now) was to control..In order to have a "Satan" you have to believe in a place called Hell, which the Celts had even heard of until the christians made it up to scare everyone into what they wanted....
Wow Christians are really stupid, why do they have to always ruin everything? halloween honors "satan"? yet the bastardized version of "christmas", which is a day humanity put on alll sorts of mythological men like krishna, celebrates CONSUMERISM more than anything. Nothing could be more satanic than that dreaded day.
and that's so true immensely, I remember when I was around 10 years old, we didn't (and still don't) celebrate halloween, and we put a sign on the door saying this, and the next morning we see that someone had egged our van... such a nuisance.
@Compadect123 i believe that man has created this holiday just to celebrate the devil and eat candy.. I don't celebrate cause 1. my parents won't let me. and 2. Its not in my heart to just dress up as different figures of this world and comic book heroes. The only thing i might do is watch a good scary movie and thats it. too much things to do these days to celebrate a pagan holiday.
If you ask me pagan traditions were much more pure and holy, more in communion with nature and understood and accepted the cycle of life with less fear than other religious traditions.
Halloween is nothing but, an appreciation of the afterlife...nothing more. The reason is actions made by the living..that cause it to have the reputation of being such a satanic and evil holiday...it's spiritual...people can make this day whatever they want it to be. it's Americanized but, its all about having fun with your family, there is no conspiracy or hidden meaning behind it.

@Geeneesiittaa - he says during the potato famine of the 1840s in Ireland, the Irish that came to America brought Halloween with them. Some of their Halloween customs were bobbing for apples and playing tricks on neighbors, like removing the front gates at their houses, and the young pranksters wore masks so as not to be recognized.
i used to love halloween as a kid still like it i ushally watch a horror film ushally all the trick or treaters are lochal kids so i know them well and i give them candy laugh at their jokes and that but in thise day and age it really isnt safe to let kids out in our area 4 years ago some pervert tried to grab 2 kids and he didnt want their candy or money but really Halloween is just another money making holiday

@Valbarca That's right. The first All Saints day was celebrated first by Catholics back in May 13, 609. the Celts came up with this modification of the holiday, which has very differences from the actual All Saints Day.
no trick or treat came from spirits who would wander the earth that day, and humans were scared and couldn't find away to avoid these spirits they would say home and feed them food and treats on there door ways to feed the hungry spirits so they wont destroy there yard and haunt them.

Why do people celebrate, Pagan holiday, such as , Halloween ,Christ-mas , Easter ,and not even try to honor the Sabbath,The Day Of Atonement and The feast of Passover and The Feast Of Tabernacles . Even if you are a "non believer " ,do you really want to your kids to participated in Pagan worship . All present Halloween traditions can be traced to , ancient Pagan worship.
Jack-o-lantern is the ancient symbol of a dammed soul.
What do I care if in Mexico or South America sugar skulls are given or not--
"Practicing this Pagan Satanic holiday is what really matters and specially if Leadership at Church encourage it or not, for 90% of all religions and Churches DO PRACTICE IT and that is the sad part of it, and Ministers know about this dangerous pagan rituals.
@JCCOUTINO I'm a witch who practices pagan rituals every day. My family and I seem to be doing fine. Let me check--nope, no demons under the bed, no Hellfire in the kitchen, neighborhood pets all seem fine. Yea, I think we'll all survive Samhain this year. Sorry to disappoint
@sammyhain13 That's because demons aren't too concerned about witches and warlocks, YOUR not the target because you are already on their side, the Christians and Jews are what they are after. I think JCCOUTINO is going a little too far though too, I guess this is one thing we can agree on.
@JCCOUTINO Um, dude, eating candy on Halloween won't result in having an exorcism, I'm a Christian, I happen to like Halloween, and there is nothing wrong with that because I'm not talking to dead people or sacrificing goats to satan, it's all fake, so you can take a chill pill.
@EvilSexMage It's funny how people choose the appropriate user names on Youtube. You are disqualified to speak on the matter. False do you know what false even is? From what I see from you, you don't.
halloween is amazing i dont think haloween is just about candy and that stuff its about scary stuff. u guys should look up how jack o'lantters became a sign for halloween.
Halloween falls on a weekday 5 times out of 7 and doesn't really get under way until all the kids are out of school. These days, we celebrate it every weekend of October to compensate for the paltry trick-or-treating attendance.
And I hear and witness many Church Leaders encouraging the members to bring their trunks full of candy and to celebrate this PAGAN holiday. In Latin America is called El Dia De Los Muertos - Day of the dead. (Specially included is this new religion mixture with LA sANTA MUERTE which now they have mixed it with.
..and Church Leaders say..oh!, well..we celebrate it to "attract more people to the Church". BUT NEVER HAVE I HEARD THEM SPEAK AGAINST THIS CELEBRATION OR CHRISTMASS NOR EASTER (ISHTAR).
@JCCOUTINO Do you guys eat candy skulls on halloween? I heard you do that in Mexico and South America. Last year I was hoping to get a candy skull for trick ot treat, but I dident :(
Haha, i'm Celtic Pagan, and isn't it fun looking at things about my Religion. They got it right pretty much, however, i just saw a video that Halloween was about Satan.
Celtic Paganism influenced people in ways you people don't have a clue if you don't know about old History of the Greek, Celts, and Romans.
this is what really happened. every 'Halloween' the celts would kill a few animals and where there skin to frighten ghost's. then they would go door to door and do some acts for food and wine
I agree with alchemist. However the word holiday is derived from holy day,..so unless he is a believer in some god..he ought not to ever have a holiday
I don't see the correlation of using a well known and defined word, regardless of origin as an assumption that someone must believe in/follow a deity to practice it. You might as well be calling everybody cavemen because we're communicating a sound that means a specific thing. Besides that, all of the abrahamic religions stole from paganistic beliefs, druids, shamans to make their "Holy days". So technically in your own viewpoints he's either agnostic or polytheistic, not monotheistic.
You commenters are both right. Christmas is both Pagan and Christian, they changed the Pagan festival to be about Christ's birth in order to ease people's transition into Christianity. Jesus wasn't born in December necessarily, but that was how they decided to celebrate it on the Winter Solstice along with the Pagan festival.
They Say In Medival Times, when Everyone Had No Education, Any Smart Women was a Witch (not men). So every year on All hallows Eve they would try to kill them cause they thought it was the day for evil.
samhain is actually a female festival as opposed 2 the maale solstices + equinox's.... samhain, bein feminine actually falls on the 1st full moon AFTER oct31st... this yrs is 2moro... nov2nd..peakin at about 4pm, therfore the door be open btween midnight on 31st - 4pm nov 2nd this yr... happy communing :-) x
and if you want to get technical the "dressing up because it is fun" really insults me. We dress up to appease or honor our dead friends, relatives, ancestors
well i've heard many stories but one was of mexico known as Day of the Dead they honourd spirits and celebrated there life on earth with a festival in which they invnted a candy "Sugar skulls" they dressed of mostly skeletons but that was just and old rumor anyways it may not be right
omg chris GET A GRIP!! learn the real origins of samhain before you mock my religion. The day is not of darkness and demons, it is a day to honor our ancestors and the end of the harvest season.
Actually christmas isn't Jesus' birthday as it says in the bible thats there were lambs in the manger and everyone knows lambs are only born in spring
@alchenistp2: In chatting with a friend in Poland, we discussed Halloween and Christmas and how those holidays ere practiced in Poland. I told him that I could see no correlation between Christmas and the constant drumbeat of Buy Buy Buy of Capitalism. Where is the religion? Halloween is celebrated in Poland by putting light (candle) on the graves of the dead. Some Poles are now using light powered with batteries. There is no historical evidence that there ever was a Jesus..
Halloween, originally known as Samhain, was a celebration of the end of the harvest season and the beginning of winter. spirits of the dead would cross into our world and people would sacrifice animals to appease these spirits and keep them away from their homes. Samhain, originated in Ireland, so i would expect different customs from Poles. I know their is no evidence for Jesus, I do not believe he ever existed but i do believe that Christmas is a Pagan holiday disguised as Christianity.
Although we know that Dec. 25 is not the actual date of the birth of Jesus Christ, Christians celebrate Christmas to remember that the Son of God willingly came to earth to fulfill what was necessary to make the way for mankind to be able to come back into fellowship/relationship with God.
@chforchrist Yeah but why on the 25 th it has no significance to the birth of Jesus or his coming to earth. Christians hated the pagans, yet stole many traditions from them.
@chforchrist Christmas is pagan it was once the Celtic holiday known as yule so there is no Christan holiday that was not originally pagan, may the gods bless
@cartoonkingforeever CHRISTmas is not pagan to CHRISTians. Although we know that Dec. 25 is not the actual date of the birth of Jesus Christ, Christians celebrate Christmas to remember that the Son of God willingly came to earth to fulfill what was necessary to make the way for mankind to be able to come back into fellowship/relationship with God. Oh, and there is only one God, in three manifestations, Father, Son, & Holy Spirit, the Trinity.
@fmxbeast102 Christmas was original the celebration of the winter solstice, and it wasn't celebrated on the 25 th it was celebrated from the 21 till the 1st of January. It was the Pagans who celebrated the winter solstice. Everything from the christmas tree to the uncanny christmas songs were taken from pagan tradition. Christians stole the celebration and made it to be the celebration of Jesus being born. Its a pagan holiday not a Christian one.
@alchemistxp2 Almost ALL ''Christian'' rituals are Pagan. Especially in Catholicism :-) to gain numbers in their religion and what were around beforehand? Pagans and those rituals. So, in order to bridge the gap and seem more similar and appear to have valididity to the Pagans. :-) Not just for you alch but shooting out to anyone reading this.
@stayathome008 First of all I agree with you the fact that Halloween is a pagan tradition. Bu when you are talking about Christmas and Easter it means alot and IS NOT a pagan tradition! Christ-Mas is about the birth of Jesus Christ, the one who died for our sins and Easter is when he has risen to be with God. You need to take a look int eh Holy Bibe and you will see. The bible says 'my people perish because of lack of knowledge' and you can get more wisdom and knowledge by reading and studyin
@stayathome008 There is no excuse for Halloween. However, there are Christian alternatives to Easter(badly named). Easter was the Catholic's attempt to replace Ishtar. Christ's death and resurrection should coincide with the Jewish passover, and Christ's coming to Earth should not be in the dead of winter to coincide with other Pagan beliefs. If I am not mistaken, studies show that He was probably born in the Spring.
@stayathome008 CHRISTMAS AND EASTER is not PAgan!!!!! its about jesus christ, 1st when jesus was born CHRISTmas, Easter when he rose agian. they just want u to think its pagen so u dont know the real truth... JESUS SAVES if you dont think so im not one to judge. when the time comes i hope yr ready...... plzzz remember
@11093100 No it's not. lol, the catholic church, which is where you got your "christianity" from, plopped a christian holiday upon each of those european pagan holidays in order to help convert people who had deep rich traditions going back thousands of years, christianity is actually just a drop in a time bucket.it will come and go like so much mythology, but celebrating times of the seasons will stay as long as humanity does.
My mates and I used to pull fantastic pranks on halloween where we'd run to the door and bang on it like mad. Once the person answered we'd say we were being chased and some kids were trying to kick the shit out of me. Then on que i'd have my friends run and jump on me. It was quite funny when we did it in the Pub.
thankx feel like shit just now so Halloween wil be in bed with a scary movie ill dress my 2 cats up their black and i can dress them up as a wich and wizard costumes i got in a pet store
so sorry for ur ill state and im hope u get better soon, but im more sorry for your deception in the believe in the halloween culture its demonic and whoever celebrates it is of da devil.forthe living know that they will die,but the dead know not anytin, evryone that celebrate today will b dancing with the devil and his angels.
when i celebreate it its more of a party playing music eating candy dressing up i ushaly pick someone from an Anime and i take the kids in the street i know out as a few years ago one kid was nearly abducted but its just an excuse to have a party but i dont beleive in witches or vampires ir ghosts and the worst we did was leave pepoles gates open
I love David Skal's appearance and commentary in this video! Every October I read his book Death Makes a Holiday to freshen up my historical Halloween knowledge.
Another thing about the masks. The masks were not initially used to disguise hooligans, as this piece states. Rather, during the churches persecution of Pagans ("country dweller" from the word, "Pagani"), when the Pagans wanted to attend the new years/end of harvest rites, and live, they needed to disguise themselves. So that those loyal to the church wouldn't be able to identify them if seen in passing, to the local clergy. And then suffer arrest, imprisonment and death afterward.

And not about worshiping anything???
It is not just about the 'Equinox' as you mention on your comment, it goes way further than that.
And why would I want to need to move to Afghanistan and to control people you say ?
I do not need to control anybody, for the real GOD, the creator of this whole Universe ' La Deidad' is under control.
HE does not need you or me or any of those Word of faith movement preachers that teach that we control GOD.

Sorry to disappoint
sammyhain13 1 year ago
@sammyhain13 That's because demons aren't too concerned about witches and warlocks, YOUR not the target because you are already on their side, the Christians and Jews are what they are after. I think JCCOUTINO is going a little too far though too, I guess this is one thing we can agree on.

@JCCOUTINO Um, dude, eating candy on Halloween won't result in having an exorcism, I'm a Christian, I happen to like Halloween, and there is nothing wrong with that because I'm not talking to dead people or sacrificing goats to satan, it's all fake, so you can take a chill pill.

I agree with alchemist. However the word holiday is derived from holy day,..so unless he is a believer in some god..he ought not to ever have a holiday
woelkeyangsan 2 years ago

CraigCuTcH 2 years ago
They Say In Medival Times, when Everyone Had No Education, Any Smart Women was a Witch (not men). So every year on All hallows Eve they would try to kill them cause they thought it was the day for evil.

kittianakazuma 2 years ago
well i've heard many stories but one was of mexico known as Day of the Dead they honourd spirits and celebrated there life on earth with a festival in which they invnted a candy "Sugar skulls" they dressed of mostly skeletons but that was just and old rumor anyways it may not be right
GoodGamesrlikemovies 2 years ago
omg chris GET A GRIP!! learn the real origins of samhain before you mock my religion. The day is not of darkness and demons, it is a day to honor our ancestors and the end of the harvest season.
kittianakazuma 2 years ago
People ignorantly dress up because "it's fun".
Some Christians (such as Catholics and Pentecostals) don't celebrate it because they know the meaning.
Masks, demons, darkness...
Halloween is a celebration for Lucifer. Period.
If you think dressing up, dress up some other day. And if you love candy, eat candy some other day. The devil has a sweet tooth, too, you know?
It's a dumb celebration. Not even a holiday. For some reasons people think it's a holiday.

so what would you say about Christmas? Halloween is a Pagan holiday and so is Christmas, you Christians just pretend it is a christian holiday.
alchemistxp2 2 years ago 22
This comment has received too many negative votes show
Christmas is the birth of Jesus.
The United States basically has made it pagan. But Christians celebrate Christ's birthday. That's it.
Halloween is dumb.
ChrisDaron 2 years ago
Actually christmas isn't Jesus' birthday as it says in the bible thats there were lambs in the manger and everyone knows lambs are only born in spring
peanuts935 2 years ago
Right.. is December Spring?
There were lambs, Mary, Joseph, other animals and other people, plus an angel.
Christmas IS about Christ's birthday, little girl.

Crickettedog 2 years ago
Halloween, originally known as Samhain, was a celebration of the end of the harvest season and the beginning of winter. spirits of the dead would cross into our world and people would sacrifice animals to appease these spirits and keep them away from their homes. Samhain, originated in Ireland, so i would expect different customs from Poles. I know their is no evidence for Jesus, I do not believe he ever existed but i do believe that Christmas is a Pagan holiday disguised as Christianity.
alchemistxp2 2 years ago
@alchemistxp2
Although we know that Dec. 25 is not the actual date of the birth of Jesus Christ, Christians celebrate Christmas to remember that the Son of God willingly came to earth to fulfill what was necessary to make the way for mankind to be able to come back into fellowship/relationship with God.
chforchrist 1 year ago 3
@chforchrist Yeah but why on the 25 th it has no significance to the birth of Jesus or his coming to earth. Christians hated the pagans, yet stole many traditions from them.

@alchemistxp2 wait how is christmas a pagan holiday. and what is a pagan. ??
fmxbeast102 1 year ago
@fmxbeast102 Christmas was original the celebration of the winter solstice, and it wasn't celebrated on the 25 th it was celebrated from the 21 till the 1st of January. It was the Pagans who celebrated the winter solstice. Everything from the christmas tree to the uncanny christmas songs were taken from pagan tradition. Christians stole the celebration and made it to be the celebration of Jesus being born. Its a pagan holiday not a Christian one.
AstrophelTDeath 1 year ago

ALL HAIL HALLOWEEN!!!
This day so hallowed, this day so hallowed, from here to forever its will i will follow
LongviewGD182 10 months ago
@stayathome008 There is no excuse for Halloween. However, there are Christian alternatives to Easter(badly named). Easter was the Catholic's attempt to replace Ishtar. Christ's death and resurrection should coincide with the Jewish passover, and Christ's coming to Earth should not be in the dead of winter to coincide with other Pagan beliefs. If I am not mistaken, studies show that He was probably born in the Spring.

@11093100 Christians stole Christmas and Easter from the Pagans
123mario619 3 months ago
@11093100 No it's not. lol, the catholic church, which is where you got your "christianity" from, plopped a christian holiday upon each of those european pagan holidays in order to help convert people who had deep rich traditions going back thousands of years, christianity is actually just a drop in a time bucket.it will come and go like so much mythology, but celebrating times of the seasons will stay as long as humanity does.
