I'm on old UO player, played all though high school 2000-2004. I much prefer the 2D client, it just fits with the charismata of the game and a great game it was. I've played World of Warcraft, Age of Conan and much more, but nothing can meet the days of UO, when people used to build houses and raid each other's guilds!

Second, i didnt say UO's graphics were bad, i said if they had done UO with 3d graphics (which was not a thing of the future, 3d graphics were already being used in other games) then EQ would be an unknown name. I say this because as a game UO always had a better game concept and mechanics than EQ did. the reason so many people flocked to EQ was because of the 3d graphics. I know i did.

The thought of Explosion/Ebolt/Poison going off as fluidly as it did in the 2D version gets my heart going.

Iris is no Shard. It's an alternative UO Client for Windows/Linux/Mac in old 2D or new 3D.

You can play on any Shard you want!

Why change something perfect ? Graphics doesnt matter in this game since the gameplay is so great. This is the problem of most new games, awesome graphics hiding the boring gameplay. Anyway those who coded this 3D client did a great job but i prefer UO in 2D :P

To me, Ultima Online remains the best MMORPG available now. Unprecedented freedom of play, perfect persistend world, lots of items..

YOU HAVE TO KEEP ON WORKING ON IRIS.

Its the only way to make this gameplay completely FREE: the server is already done (i.e. RunUO, POL, etc), we only need the client to be completely free.. KEEP ON!

Anyways, that is pretty damn impressive though (allthough I think I probably still prefer the old 2d client), I allways thought they should have found a way to translate some of the work they did on the canned UO2 into making a decent UO engine it's a shame they didnt.

One question...Why didnt you use the models from the official UO 3d client? I'm guessing copyright issues but then surely this is all ready either endorsed by Origin/EA or your all ready breaking loads of copyright laws?

Iris2 ist OpenSource und wird von 3 Leuten in ihrer Freizeit entwickelt.

as an almost-from-the-beginning UO player, it was once the best thing I ever played, but its definately lost its appeal. the money isnt worth what u get, and the free shards are even more boring (if thats possible). The 3d client made animals look like they had broken backs.
