  • Gasquet has an unbelievable talent.

  • The first serve is out, no ??

  • Why would Gasquet even run around that backhand? It's way better than his loopy forehand.

  • Comment removed

  • @thebharat25 they called it out tho....

  • the 1hbh return at 1:30 took the wind out of the sails for tsonga

  • BEST BACKHANDO VS AN ANIMAL

  • Tsonga was definitely NOT trying in this match ....

But I love Richard's game, as well

  • wow. its pretty impressive to lose 6-1 and then comeback like that. *BUT*! that shit wont happen again, lol!

  • so good to watch when richard is in the zone. takes me back to when he took down roddick in five back in 07 wimbledon.

  • umm, he's not. thank you. :-)

  • @atomcrush I think Richard is only gay to gay guys like you who have the hots for him, but keeping saying it to yourself and maybe you will get your wish.

  • some1 should post the Tsonga nieminen match. 0-6 7-6 7-6 epic.

  • It does?! ok thats a point!

  • Why the Fuck are you actually getting a 2 years suspension for taking cocain?? Correct me if im wrong, but cocain doesnt help your Tennisgame at all, does it? So why are you getting suspended for that long for taking a "partydrug" in your private time... dont get it

  • for sure coke is not good for tennis...

unless you can take several lines at every changing side ^__^'

  • C'était la veille dans une soirée aucune influence sur son tennis ... aréton avec cette histoire de coke.

  • @affenkeks He didnt even take it. Its common sense. Why would Richard snort coke the same week he has a tournament. He knows he has to submit to testing. What he said happened was he was making out with a guy that had taken Coke and small amounts that were on his lips got into Gasquet's system. Just a misunderstanding. Go Richard!

  • Just to be clear, it was a GIRL named Pamela, not a GUY!!!! LOL :D Just to clear things up for those of you who woud see this and go tell people Gasquet is Gasgay....:)

  • Beast, its cause he kissed a girl who took cocaine, and now hes gotta play nadal, hope gasuqet wins he has great potenial

  • yhyh same, but he hasnt had a good run at the us open since 2006, i think he is due:)

  • He's still young. Some players dont peak till they are 24, 25, 26

  • yeah roger didnt win his first major till he was 23

  • Roger was 21 when he won his first major.

  • break out the baguettes

  • gasquet has the best one handed backhand in tennis. the only problem is his forehand lacks depth in the court. since he was caught for coke i think he should work on that forehand in the off season rofl

  • he got cleared today...

  • got cleared??

  • yeah hes not banned for 2 years anymore for the use of cocaine

  • french duel

  • Gasquet nous roule dans la farine !!! lol

  • when did it take place, before he got suspeded???????? i really believe him is like now drugs are everywhere and som products contains it, and u sometime did not notice it at all. he should be playing, because fed, djoko, nadal have said that it cannot be, and they have to hear those comments that are the key to leve out his suspension.

  • oh my god for real?

i bet thats where this whole disaster

started!!!!!!!!!!! ugh i wish i knew him

so i could tell him and they can

let him play again cause this

is torture, i want him to play!!!

  • poor richard.

i feel really sorry for him. its obvious that he has talent but his mental state is terrible as we saw in wimbledon against murray and aus open against gonzo. both times he served from match point. he was on the cover of france's tennis mag when he was 9 and he has nvr lived up to the expectations placed on him and a lot of pressure that was placed on him.

and im not saying its good to take coke, but its not fair if he gets 2 yrs, when people who take steriods get 6 mths.

  • i know, i dont think he really did take coke though...they keep trying to pin stuff on him, like him being gay & on drugs, there obviously a pattern here, they just wanna harass him.

  • wow way to be rascist whatiskunfan, congrats ur an asshole

  • i second that

  • well how about this, i hope you dont feel inferior when a black person shoves their foot up your ass for making another racial slur...if your think like then then fine, whatever but dont post it on youtube its 2009 black people arent slaves anymore.

  • i am not black but it IS offensive to even read and it is unneccesary to even bring up...like i said, if thats the kind of twisted things you think then whatever, i could care less its your own mind your polluting but dont post it on the world wide web. thanks asshole.

  • to whatiskungfan,

well, neither was Gilles Simon treated as the "French tennis player", Gasquet was treated special because he peaked at an early age, he was on a magazine civer when he was 9. french expectations were on him for sometime already. besides, when gasquet was the top french player he was in the top ten alone, whereas tsonga is in the top ten with simon and monfils. so tsonga can't be "the" french player, because there were two more, whereas gasquet was "the" french player in 2007

  • It seems like you don't know what happens in France .

You should see Jo-Wilfried Tsonga on french television.

  • What is the point of your statement? It's such a weird observation that has NOTHING to do with tennis.

  • 20 secs backhand winner from that far bk woow

  • gasquet is a total headcase at the moment

  • I just love Richard's game, he's my fav player.

Wish he could learn to win the big matches.

  • Look Gasquet is still using the origional Extreme Pro Racquet. Now I "know" the new version sucks! XD

  • he actually uses the liquid metal instinct painted as the microgel extreme pro. look it up on google images. i use the both the micro extreme and the instinct and tested the new extremes and the are god awful.

  • Just heard he's about to get a two year ban for doping. Not even for a performance enhancer but for cocaine. That's some bullshit legislation.

  • I know it really sucks it's not steroids it's just coke and he's punished so severely. I hope he doesn't get a 2-yr ban, just not right.

  • @AMFFF4E

He have best backhand on ATP

  • MY BEST PLAYER TOO. BEST BACKHAND ALL OVER THE WORLD

  • GO GASQUET!

  • Deux des quatre nouveaux mousqetaires aussi digne du sobriquet que Gilles Simon et Gael Monfils !! Ah, l'ronie !

  • I would say Fed and Gasquet. Nalbandian easily has the greatest double-hander though.

  • I think you forgot a guy named Nadal. His bh is arguably very effective and deadly.

    Great placement, awesome spin, consistent.

  • Nadal is not a shot-maker. No pundit has ever referred to him as a shot-maker. He's a grinder.

  • I said his backhand was very good. I agree that he is a grinder...but he can pull off some very clutch shots sometimes

  • I see. Was talking about shot-making myself. DHBH wise I'd say Nalbandian, Safin, Djokovic, Murray all have bettter strokes than Nadal. Must be missing a few names.

  • Yep.

  • Gasquet's backhand is great, but his forehand isn't technically efficient and not really that effective. there is too much whrist on it.

  • I concur. Though he does have two very different forehands that he uses. His general helicopter forehand is pretty poor and not very attractive. His flat forehand is preety sweet but he doesn't use it much. Maybe he lacks confidence, but that should could be lethal.

  • ^ yup, Gasquet is so talented but mentally he just breaks down and that really turns the game on him. I hope he can really pull through and be where he should be the top 5 - top 10

  • You are certainly correct. However, it has nothing to do with confidence. You need to have a rally forehand, and his beautiful, aggressive, flat forehand doesn't have the shot path needed for a rally forehand. Unfortunately, as most have noticed, his rally forehand is a glaring weakness, both aesthetically and strategically.

  • Yeah that could be it. I just find it strange that so many other less talented players are comfortable hitting the ball flat (going through the court) even as a rally stroke and RG so often doesn't.

  • Nr. 1 single bh. in the world. He is allrounder, he take all service, slice, fh. not bad and voley.

  • 1:21 :O

    AMAZING

  • Gasquet is the ! best shotmaker in mens tennis

  • Everytime I see him. he's always in these 4+ hours tennis matches.

  • guidance counsellors get to find out all sorts of interesting things.

    wooohohoho Gasgay

  • Go Gasquet!!!

  • people have been saying that for years but look where he still is...

  • i know, he's no where near to be compared to nadal, just because he does good in a match doesn't mean he can beat anyone lol nadal is good all year in almost all tournaments and slams

  • Gasquet is awesome, i wish he'd won against gonzalez.

  • well he dident gonzo is better sorry

  • no he isn't u piece of shit.

  • than y did he lose u ugly imbred

dont talk shit if u cant back it up u slut

i bett u cant even play tennis .............

go jizz in your mums mouth

  • yeah, i love gasquet, but he needs to improve his stamina, he does have a tendency to choke, like he disappointingly did last night against gonzalez..hope he has a good year though!

  • I think Gasquet was throwing matches last year.

  • I don`t think so he`s gonna win

  • ey!!...he will fight v/s fernando gonzales n14# ranking .... he will lose...

  • i love him!

  • Gasquet really impressed me in this game. I don't know what your talking about ponce when you say 'his problem is mental' because to me he seemed solid all the way through this game, whereas Tsonga didn't concentrate for long

  • you guys are both right. In this match gasquet didnt seem to break down at all. whereas he has been known to melt down and choke in many matches. (Wimbledon 2008 against murray) he played great in this one.

  • Yeah it's not lack of focus that's his problem. It's nerves and confidence.

  • Gasquet is really talent. His problem is mental and the main problem is his stamina. too poor. he is tired always in the more importnat and later matches of the torunaments.

  • Agree.

It has been once again proved in his last match against Gonzalez where he was tired only after 2 sets!

  • Gasquets game is looking awesome, hopefully this will be the start of a great year :)

  • the most handsome guy I`ve ever seen so far

    sooo cute

  • Gasquet is amazing!

  • if gasquet had the confidence of federer or nadal he'd be incredible

  • "One of the best single-handed backhands in the world..." Really, whose is better?! Gasquet also has a deadly forehand and an extremely powerful serve. Why is he only ranked in the high 20s?

  • Because he lacks of self confidence..

  • because he has a poor mentallity, which is his greatest problem :(

  • he got injured and missed the french last year which while isnt an 'excuse' certainly contributed to his rankings drop, lost first round at the US too..

  • well richie was in top 10 in 2007...

i still think he is one of the few most talented

but can we really speak of talent without regularity...

    my 2 cents :

his forehand is not a "great forehand" : too often short and curved... in fact it depends of his shape, when his backhand is regular

his 1 backhand : we could talk about fed's slices, variety of effects and all but if we talk simply as a weapon allowing to finsh points, yes he's the better

  • They should call him "Rocket" Richard

  • Wow did you see that dropshot at 1.19? Insane!!

  • allez richie!!!

a very promising start to the year :D

  • good luck 2 Jo and Richard

  • w w w youtube com/watch?v=TnL8N3iPn6A

like tennis and comedy and deep voices?!

  • Well i hope hes back to his old self

  • Well, that was impressive. Gasquet has had some problems with consistency, but when he finds his range, he's easily one of the most talented players in the world. If he plays like this in Melbourne, he'll be a serious threat; he could win the title. I'm still pulling for Federer though.
