Since mercury is an element (and in the liquid state at room temperature, at that), it is not very well suited even to be used as one of the dissimilar metals in a battery. If you want to eat some mercury, I suggest you try eating one of the old mercury thermometers (take it out of the glass first though) or some Ohio fish.
