Ya, I was born in Papua and grew up in Ilaga, further to the west among the Western Dani. My parents' annual conferences took place at Pyramid, so it was great to be back there, even if just for an afternoon and night! I overlapped with you in the the 70's. Where did you live exactly?
I hope to again upload more videos, though most of them are taken in the Jakarta vacinity.
Eeyh Labogo! Wa Wa!! Sorry for taking so long to respond to you. Thanks for your compliment... even though I would need to improve a LOT! ha. Do you live in Papua? If so, I'm jealous. ;)
Yes, he did. ;) But I figured, "fair enough... He's let me get him on video and in the Baliem there are enough tourists for him to know this is one way to make money." Do I know you?
Hey Margie, Papua buddy! Thank you. Yes, I will post more... And btw, thank you for the use of your home-sweet-home that night without you even knowing it! ... It was great getting you dad's report of his recent trip there.
Love this video, Dan....just had to watch it again!!

Hi Dan,
Yes. I remember those conferences.
In the early days they used to be held in Karubaga.
We were stationed in 'Kobakma' with the Nggem people. (similar to the Dani).
We were there from 1974 till 1982.
My parents were Earl & Julie Hughes.

Hi Dan,
Just saw your video. I only know a
bit of Dani, but did you/your family spend time up there when you were younger?
I used to live near Wamena in the 70's/80's.

Wayne
