I don't know why people are bitching about the vid poster for rightly saying that a lot of people are uncreative. It's a true fact. Being humble is one thing, but pretending that things are not as they are just so your inferiors don't feel uncomfortable is something that works against humanity's progress as a whole. Shame on you people and your pathetically small egos. It is not the fault of a video poster on youtube that you never grew up.
1) I just gather my resources naturally. I find that it gives me a break from building and time for my ideas to settle in.
2) A little of both. I generally get an idea or two that I want to work with and the rest grows out of that.
3) I've not seen his work. I'll have to look into it.
4) Probably not. I've gone through the majority of what I wanted to accomplish with my Terraria videos now and my interests are turning to other games.
4)...I will probably still do more Terraria videos, but they will be shorter and possibly less often. At least until there is another major content update.
5) Like everything else my interest grows and wanes. Luckily when it comes to building all it takes is another good idea to become interested again.
Architectural structures that are sharply off-scale from the character's 3-block height have always made me grind my teeth, but that bell tower of yours is really elegant. My eyes were stuck on the asymmetry in the bell itself -- nicely done!
@baphnie Thanks, as I've played around more and expanded what I've tried to accomplish with my designs I've been trying to do more with perspective and blended scale. There are definitely some interesting things you can do.
This has inspired me to continue making interesting creations in Terraria. I love to decorate my houses, using symmetry and furniture to create specific rooms, and additional lighting effects to change the moods of the areas, but I have only done a little bit with different sorts of bricks, nothing with removing background tiles, and still only very little in making very large designs. My most intricate piece is probably my Fortress, which is small in comparison even to your tower. Great video!
@Alargator Thanks for the comments, glad you enjoyed the video. It's always good to hear that someone has been inspired by anything I've uploaded. That was one of the main reasons I've done these videos. To, hopefully, share some of the processes I've gone through to expand my creative techniques so that viewers can come up with something in their own worlds that they may not have otherwise.
I was initially impressed but then the creator started to come off as conceited. It's kind of a ridiculous amount of work for someone to do then to just talk about how much everyone elses designs that use things like furniture basically suck. The video could of went by without mentioning how uncreative/bad many peoples houses are. Focus on your stuff, don't make other people feel uncreative.
So sorry I didn't waste copious amounts of time with my Treehouse I thought was pretty awesome.
@Dan55888 I disagree with your entire perspective. The opinions and elements discussed in W.Tanner's vid are presented in an informative light without any negative attitude. If your creations feel less than what they could be, focus on the lessons given here instead of any semblance of ego tied to your Treehouse.
Certainly, your Treehouse is probably awesome in its own way, yet it would be a shame for you to cut of the possibility of doing more because you cannot get passed spoken truth.
@JoshReflek now you are the arrogant one. You talk about my ego while you prattle on about "the spoken truth", the truth is that this guy spends an absurd amount on these creations and shouldn't belittle people because designs in an overall game arn't as time consumingly artful as his creations.
I stand firm on the stance that the video would have been much better if he focused on his designs instead of belittling others with how everyone else is lazy if they don't make creations his way.
@KitsuneWarrior17 Creativity is entirely subjective. =) The most important thing is to keep trying new ideas and playing around with new things to see what works and what doesn't. That's the great thing about games like these. It's unbelievably rewarding to see something you've made and to think that but for a simple discovery you've made or a small piece of inspiration you had gotten you wouldn't have been able to have done that.
GREAT video man! i don't see many people who value the artistic aspect of games anymore :( your creations are one thing, but it's the mind behind it and the effort and all the ideas floating in the air and oppertunities that you manage to project so well that really gets me :) I really hope you get to influence the whole world with your values in one way or another at one point in life, WillieTannerBuilds!
gotta say the treehouse has too much clashing information, sometimes the best designs are the simplest, when it turned night however ,the contrast was good, I would suggest removing some of the dirt or wood to make a cleaner cut
For how well you make this series, it seems like it would get more views, guess most people just aren't really into building.
These tutorials do help with people like me, who built but have more trouble with certain aspects of building, "the rules" you teach do help a whole lot to those who listen.
@posztoka Sorry, I'm not offering my worlds for download as I feel it would go against one of the reasons I started these videos. That being to give other players the knowledge and ideas to make thier own cool stuff.

Hi, first let me just say that your an amazing builder, but I have a few questions.
1) What, go you find, is the quickest way to get your resources?
2) Do you plan your work; or just let it grow?
3) Have you ever seen Dan021? What do you make of his work, considering that he flattens and shapes the land him self?
4) Would it ever be possible for you and Dan021 to do a co-op commentary?
5) Do you ever get bored with the building or do you just enjoy it? Any response would be great. Thank you!
