So that you can't grab his clothes. The singlet is used because that way you must ultimately win your opponent with physical skills and intelligency, there's no coat to grab since it would give a chance to the weaker one to get a point. Wrestling is the only sport there is, it deminds you everything both physically and mentally, there's nothing like it. The thing that I am most proud of after my family and friends is that I practice wrestling. Everybody should wrestle.

it may be funny to someone who doesn't understand it. also if you think they're fighting like animals then probably you're afraid of fighting and never fought in your life. you may be justified to see it any way you please, but so am I, and I see you as a fool who thinks he's superior to those who practice this discipline, although he's a nobody and they're olympic level athletes.

First of all,@Bud216 there is no such thing as winning by decision(there used to be ages ago)!Everything depends on actions or the inability to perform an action when you have the advantageous position of what is called a clinch.

@Karoolta You don't need a pin to win and there is freestyle,as well as female wrestling,in the Olympics!

Also, I wouldn't call it funny,but FUN! And challenging,and demanding,and artistic.

Last but not least, I personally like freestyle, but I simply ADORE greco...

I never contested the greatness of the sport, I think it's awesome. But it is also comical to see humans "fighting" like animals

I agree, wrestling is something that both animals and humans practice. In animal kingdom, wrestling match and it's result decides who is the alpha of the group, humans also have this inborn sense to wrestle and show who is the best. Losing a wrestling match means that somebody dominates you both physical and mentally, he doesen't punch you or choke you, he wins you with pure skill and intelligence. Animals do not choke or punch each other, they wrestle because it is couraugeous.
