First off, it's hard enough just to keep the samples on the correct timing when you're producing music like this. Playing keyboards, while sampling five different pieces, often in different time scales, is fucking ridiculous. I mean, honestly if you don't appreciate how hard stuff like this is to produce you know literally nothing about production-side music, idgaf how good you are at guitar, drums, french horn you are, saying this doesn't take talent is ridick.

Second off, this isn't rap. This isn't even close. It's beat-based, production side electronica with dubstep elements and samples from traditional instruments. Often, these instruments are played by DVS, live, onstage, while he is running a light show and keeping fifteen different lines of sample tracks running in perfect key and on beat. Again, saying this doesn't take a tremendous amount of talent, musical ability, and general fucking awesomeness, is ridiculous.

In conclusion, not only does Derek have incredible proficiency with a small range of traditional instruments, he is a producer the likes of which is extremely rare in this world. His pieces flow from the carefree and groovy, to hard hitting, bass-heavy dubstep madness, and back again, with perfect transitions, and his mastery at track arrangement and timing often make for moments when you stare, awestruck, at your speakers and say "What the FUCK just happened?"

@Tomas1242 first of all if you know about mixing music, this is all done on a machine, he may live have someone playing the guitar but the guitar and the drums and everything were all done on the computer, mixing programs i sat next to a guy on a cheap vaio laptop and watched him create a beat a hell of a lot sicker than this is less than 5 minutes its not hard at all, music like this is extremely overrated it takes no playing talent, he doesnt play 1 intrument so how is it music?
