  • Radar Roy is a paid spokesman for Escort. Chinese made plastic crap !! Do yourself a favor and get a Valentine 1 ... Out performs any Esort/Beltronics RD and is made in the USA

  • @finster444k The Redline has a magnesium case...

  • as demonstrated the redline isnt nearly the best at close range instant on =( its a great detector but definitely more likely to miss instant on than the V1! but i still liked it more and have it mounted in my windshield

  • Better than Sti Magnum?

  • @swimmies10 I find that they are about the same

  • Awesome detector, perfect for Virginia and D.C. Thanks for the review Roy!

  • Your videos are awesome and informative. Any decrease in sensitivity with the TSR option on with K band? Your the reason I got the Redline. Was going to get the Val 1 cause of its direction arrows but thought the Ka band difference in sensitivity was too great for me not to get the Redline.

  • @Yankeeboy7504 Thanks for your comments and there is no reduction in performance with the TSR option

  • @radarroy thank you

  • @radarroy yeah ok

  • @radarroy at one time you were a paid consultant. You may not be any longer this would explain the website name changes.

  • @2kargarage1 I have NEVER been a paid consultant for any radar detector manufacture, get your facts straight

  • @radarroy ummm not true and you know it. Escort filed bankruptcy long after mike left.

Proof: has v1 ever filed bankruptcy under the direction of mike....NO

Escort makes a hyped up product disguised in bells and whistles. Until the redline all escort had was a list useless features.

  • @sidehop "I drive much slower and smarter now" of course you do ur using a belscort instead of a v1.

Did u know that escort filed bankruptcy TWICE. V1 ftw

  • @2kargarage1 Oh the V1 zombies are on the attack. Those financial problems were back when Mike Valentine was with the company.

  • @okcbrotha radaroy IS bias as he is a paid consultant in the industry.

  • @2kargarage1 Ok, who pays me cause I would like to get my checks!

  • hey radar roy, quick question. is the escort redline compatible with the direct wire cord and the fuse kit?

  • @KillerZero259 Yes, it is compatible

  • @radarroy excellent! thanks for your reply!

  • I miss the 9500ix's blue LED's but kept the Redline. It's a SOLID device. 9500ix feels very cheap design wise. Both are good but Redline seems tad bit better in sensitivity. I've owned V1 at the same time as the 9500ix and Redline but that arrow really didn't make a difference. The GPS and filtering of the Escort won me over. I drive much smarter and slower now. Really is a good device to have. You still can't outrun a I/O out in the open. Just drive smart :) It really keeps you alert.

  • wow excellent review radarroy this review has helped out a lot to me simply because I my self are a truck driver and I know first hand how important it is to kept your driving record clean. I some times drive long distances but mostly local and I know that radar detectors are illegal in california but in commercial vehicles they are and what other detector then the REDLINE.

  • Hi Roy! I've considered a redline, but have been thinking about waiting since mike valentine's patent ran out, essentially opening the field up for others. think I should wait or go for it?

  • Let me know your thoughts of the unit! I love ours

  • @radarroy It's an excellent detector! I just used it on a trip and it alerted very nicely over hills. Cops only use Ka-band here so false alerts are not a problem at all.

  • I just bought the escort RedLine online.... cant wait to receive it !!!!

  • I like RadarRoy becasue he is not bias. I know all the V1 fanboys will hate this video because he said the Redline out perform the V1. If he was bias he wouldn't suggest other brand names. But calm down V1 lovers i'm sure they are in the labs coming up with something that will be better than their current model and hopefully one that can't be detected by RDD Spectre IV

  • I think this guy is in bed with escort and beltronics. Everything else sucks and if you do buy a V1 you never have to buy a new one again, thats what i was told atleast

  • @pontiacgrprix I suspect that you were told this by a V! Zombie. If you need to do a software/firmware upgrade with a V1 you have to send it back and they charge you. The 9500ix, you download the updates from your computer and upload them to your detector.

Mike has done NOTHING to keep his antiquated V1 up-to-date

  • @radarroy Lol except the fact Mike is straightforward in whether or not the update is worth it for your needs. Tell me why Belscort has done NOTHING to listen to the wishes of their enthusiast consumers. Instead - add every feature BUT the one we want. Belscort is more business oriented than satisfaction oriented and we all know it. I bought a 9500ix 6 months ago. I am now selling it for a Redline, but intend on purchasing a V1. Feel free to ask for examples if you doubt me.

  • I'm Still waiting to see this thing in action with all the new Spectres RDD

  • Do you think the redline falses too much in the city? I just got an ix and I am debating about returning it for a redline. Photo cameras aren't really a problem and I don't run red lights.

  • Does the Redline detect Ku band ??

  • @Stalli0n999 No...

  • @Stalli0n999 don't need it unless you ever drive in Europe.

  • Hello Roy, i love your videos and here is my question, i got a speeding ticket not to long ago because i was late to work so i was doing 48 in a 30, not even that much yet i got pulled up by a guy with a radar detector, my question is, what detector would you recommend me for a guy tha drives like 10-30 miles a day and not speed a lot, only when is need it. Im looking forward to buy an srt4 so i know i will be a little I live in Miami, Florida

  • awesome video

  • hey roy i was wondering what is better for city/town driving? the redline or 9500ix? Or is there a better one out there for that?

  • @iilahi For city go with the 9500ix

  • hey roy i have a v1 and a cobra and i pass this store everyday i know theres no cop there but the v1 beeps everytime but the cobra dosen't is it good on the cobra side or bad on the v1 side also what are your feelings on the bel v940.

  • Roy thanks for the reviews! Every 4-5 months i take a trip across the country for 2000miles, what would you recommend given that i mostly take interstates 90% of the way?

  • @Sharp12 The redline would be my 1st choice

  • @radarroy question Roy I live in California there using Lidar radar guns out here that kind of radar is so deadly that no matter what radar detector u have they will bust you . and if ur radar detector does pick up a lidar gun by chp its to late they have u clocked already

  • Had my V1 for 3 months now Ill put it up against the REDLINE ANYTIME

  • Hey Roy im looking for good radar detector under 500 and i drive 60 to 80 miles a day on back roads and interstates what detector would you reccomend

  • @ilikeemericas Bel RX65:

  • @radarroy Thanks

  • hey anyone wanna trade for my V1 valentine i really wanna try the escort 9500ix

  • too bad I got busted by laser.

  • @BellMan1111 Get the Laser Interceptor, watch my video on our test

  • I just bought the Escort Redline and think it's great. I need the stealth because I travel to Canada often. I also thought that the Redline gave alot of false alerts. However, I soon realized that it was picking up radar 1/4 mile sooner than my old detector.

Just because you don't see the police car right away it doesn't mean it's a false alert. I often drive past a shopping center think it's the store's alarm only to find a police car just up the road.

  • Escort is leading the pack beating the Valentine One. I love it.

  • Here are a few places my RedLine has gone off so far: Walmart parking lot, Walgreens parking lot, 2 mechanic shops (one installs alarms and audio too), a train track crossing, a Wachovia parking lot, a Sovereign Bank parking lot, and interestingly enough, I got a POP mode alert while cruising on I-287 in Jersey, but there was nothing directly in front of me unless it was WAAAYYYY down the road which is good I guess, but I had to exit so I never found out.

  • I meant once I get familiar with the RedLine, I will try it with the Threat Ranking Software option ON. It might have the best sensetivity on the market right now, but as far as selectivity, well, like one guy said, detectors are made for highways, there are no door opener beams on the highway, so I'm thining the RedLine is made for flat out highway speeding, they should sell these with every new WRX Sti and Evo you buy... LOL

  • No, the RedLine does not come equipped with any kind of GPS, sorry, but by reading and poking around here and there, I think their next big detector that will debut will be a RedLine with GPS capability, since everyone seems to be asking for it. I've had my RedLine for about a week now, and it's False Alarm City, picks up every single automatic door opener beam, usually X band, but, it does come with a filtering option (TRS) and I still have it set to OFF, once I get familiar I will turn it on.

  • Hey Roy,

I bought the Escort redline detector and I am going to receive it tomorrow. I hope this can do the job, because I have bought three radars detector so far and all were driving me nuts with false alarms. Do you know whether this redline radar detector comes with GPS because the cheaper one did, so the redline radar detector, should come as well, after all I paid a lot of money for it.

  • To me the locking out of falses with the 9500ix is key. In the past when I've had radar detectors which didn't have the GPS warning I'd get falses enough to where I basically wouldn't pay much attention to the detector.

It's like having a car alarm that goes off when a leaf falls on it. How many leaves must fall until you figure, "Ok, it's just a leaf setting off my alarm..."

  • Radar detectors are only good on STAIGHT HIGHWAYS!... i have an 8500 x50 and its sucks ass in the city/ suberbs.....it only pics of laser from the front.... so if you are driving on an outer road and your speeding and there is a rade perpendicular to it (lets say on your left) Then the radar dectector will pick up up right when you cross the road perpendicular to you......Which then its to late becuase the cop already got you speeding and you had no notice...

  • Roy, I have a question??? If the redline and escort 9500iand ix are all made on the same platform in testing. What makes you think its better than the other escorts in detection. Lets do alittle research here. Go back to 1992 to 2002. Just in those 10 years the V1 has beat every escort model made, in superior radar detection. V1's software is just flat out better. You ready for a test to prove your redline is better???? I will mail you my V1!!!!!

  • @wsteagall They are not built on the same platform the Redline is built on the STi platform not the 9500ix. On range the Redline beats out the V1. The only thing that the V1 beats out all Escorts on are Instant On

  • @radarroy

Ok Roy I tested the V1 against the redline today.. Not impressed with the redline at all. Both radar detectors were close on K and Ka. The V1edged out the redline on K band by one beep. The redline edged the V1 on Ka by one beep or so. Of course X band and laser the V1 destroyed the escort again. So after we tested it we had everyone pick the winner. V1 by 2 points on range and sensitivity. Escort only won the design award. In conclusion The V1 is still the choice.

    Goergia Boy

  • I agree. All the forums I have read and videos I have seen, the V1 still come out on top over all. But the Redline is a close second. Perhaps the V1 RadarRoy was using needs to go in for a tune up.

  • Yes i agree the V1 he was running might have needed a good tune up. My V1 3.826 software, has beaten the redline before on K, and Ka but its very close. As for the money the V1 is the bang for the Buck if you want superior radar and laser detection. As for all those other features, like GPS/ redlight cameras its a waste of money because most every county out here has removed the redlight cameras. There too expensive to keep up.

    stealthcountermeasures

  • @GlennBatch1 The only thing the V1 can beat the redline on is rear detection and instant on and with instant on its like a sec ahead of the redline.

  • @wsteagall lol dude who cares about X band and laser? first off who really uses X band anymore? like No one. well at least where i live. 2nd off its pointless to detect laser, cause everyone knows you need a jammer. Otherwise its just letting you know you got a ticket.

  • @wsteagall The firmware is all different in the models and the Redline is a completely different model too

  • Blackbeltrk,

Your are so right about instant-on radar the escort 9500i, doesn't even alert have the time. I have video of this on youtube. Look under valentine one vs escort 9500i by "blindermanvideo" Like craig peterson, Roy feels the escort redline is better than the V1. Truth be told, my V1 3.826 version spanked a brand new 9500i on instant-on and forward facing radar. My unit was made in 2001. I'll bet it can beat a redline anyday of the week..

  • Well, you have to also realize it is a RADAR detector...not a POLICE detector. So if you see a patrol car, does that always necessarily mean they are running radar, or even equipped with one? I don't think so.

  • Ok Roy,

Every year that escort comes out with a new radar detector you always say it out performs the V1. The V1 has shown to out perform the redline on K band by a hair and equal it or has been one beep behind the redline on Ka band. These radar detectors are still close in performance. The redline's performance does not justify it over priced tag.. It way too over priced and over hyped! V1 has owned escort since 1992 in performance test. Escort has finally won the battle. By a hair!!!

  • anyone knows how to work with a laser jammer in illinois ??? chicago city is killing us with lidar guns and i read its illegal to own a laser jammer

    anyone have a clue ?

  • Radar detectors are worthless as u said when it comes to lidar guns :((((

  • What is your best tested jammer? If you don't mind me asking for Georgia? Also,Does your test cover the new laser atlanta laser that state patrol is using now? just curious, before I buy.

  • Well Blinder is coming out this week with a new laseer jammer, however I have yet to test it

  • I basically have the viewpoint that laser in a radar detector is pretty much worthless, you need to jam laser not detect it

  • Roy, I was wondering if you were able to test the redline with it's laser capabilities? How does the laser within this unit compare with the valentine & STI?

  • Thxs, if you like the GPS than the 9500ix or 9500ci. The CI has this same range

  • Different platform then the GPS detectors. The Redline is based on the M4. If they included GPS wouldn't be stealth

  • so what would be better for a local cdl driver a bel sti or the redline

  • They are both very good, the Redline however has better range

  • Great review RR...

Now I'm debating weather buying a RedLine or a Valentine 1, I was also considering the 9500IX but with the AUTOLEARN problems I don't know what to do =x

  • If the system autolearns something I don't want it to, I delete it, no big deal
