  • So, that means I can race in F1 by just playing Need For Speed, right? Man, this is a joke, I wonder what would pilots like Ayrton Senna, Juan Manuel Fangio or Stirling Moss would think about gadgets like these...

  • english speak fucking English or Russian or Ukrainian or German fuck learned 4 languages still useless...

  • you mean... KERS for Mexicans?

  • @LandonGear It's Italian you ignorant oaf! But it does sound an awful lot like Spanish.

  • @JohnLemonX AY DIOS MIO!!!

  • @TheJonox

in principle, you can, but in F1 you want to have the most power possible and putting the generator as a load on the engine would steal some power from the engine and converting energy types induces loss in energy (friction, heat, etc..)

With KERS, you're using the rotation of the rear wheels to charge up the battery (notice, ONLY while braking) and thus, actually slightly improving the braking ability of the car!

If it's still unclear, there are more good videos that explain :)

  • But I stil dotn see why you cant just put a generator on the engine and create battery engery from that

  • What I don't get is why not do it the other way around buy charger it while the diff is moving.

  • I got a better one! have a wind turbine to charge the batter! the Faster you go the faster you get to go =D.

  • @lykenth08 that is a darn good idea!

  • The fuck is the point on posting the title in English when the video is in Italian ... Fucking Retard

  • @seraphism91 retard is the one who don't get it from picture, also I don't know italian but like half of the words (mostly the key ones) were similar to english so you can get it if you are not totally dumb which is obviously your case

  • why use english titles?

  • So how do I input this into Google Translate Italian to English?

  • similar to porsches new kinetic energy flywheel thing in the new 918 race car. it has electric motors on the front wheels that can store braking energy in an accumulator allowing the driver to use the stored energy for an extra 200hp to each wheel at the press of a button for 10 seconds also effectively making the car all wheel drive when the power is being used. braking then recharges the system

  • ahhhhhh now i underst..... oh yeah i still dont!!!!!

  • @trebor27rob Ok when you brake the movement energy (kinetic) of the brake pads create friction and heat. The turning of the axles is transferred into kinetic engery by an altinator. That was the thing next to enengine in the vid. And then the electric energy is converted into chemical engery as it flwos into the battery. Then the driver turns on the KERS and the process is reversed. It turns the altinator and because the alt turns the diff faster than the engine making 80 more hp = more speed

  • Semplice ma pesante

  • retard

  • K. E. R. S. will be certainly used in the 2011 Formula 1 season! Their not mandatory but the minimum weight of the car has been raised by 20 kilos, the weight of a K. E. R. S. installed on a car!

  • So... It's a hybrid?

  • I love the abbreviations: KERS - Kinetic Energy Recovery System, MERS - Magnetic Energy Recovery System, WERS – Wind Energy Recovery System, SERS - Solar Energy Recovery System, BERS – BEERS Energy Recovery System (Have a drink and you’ll feel like you have more power too) JOKE. P and F have some but not all of these. All this is easy to figure out if you have money. Just like fixing the economy, I can do that too just need money.

  • Interesting technique.

  • I need to send the narrator english for dummies.

  • learn italian,I'm not italian pero io capitto tutti

  • now I've just gotta watch Italian for Dummies

  • KERS had great potential to be something awesome, but I think the regulations kind of neutered it, which ended up screwing over a lot of teams who were developing it but ended up not using it like BMW Sauber and Renault. If only the minimum weight for the cars was increased a little more and if the KERS could be used with more power per lap. Then it would've been more competitive.

  • Only Mclaren used KERS to its full potential. The other teams either had problems with it or gave up on it too quickly. Without KERS I don't believe Hamilton would have won a race in 2009. Also his miraculous storm from 17th to 3rd in Brazil would have been much harder if not improbable without it.

  • @LeJimster, and 2009 Force India would have won the Belgian GP without KERS.

  • @slungbungdungclung

The minimum weight has been raised by 20 kilos!

  • FUCKS SAKE ENGLISH YOU PRICK

  • K.E.R.S. for dummies LMFAO Notice its not explained in English ???

  • And btw. I think British r the best carmakers in the world.

  • The problem about Italian cars is the electric side of them. Im sure they work pretty well when its warm, but here in north the electric parts r allways broke. Seems like the wires r not desinged to last in so cold conditions.

  • i must be REALLY stupid 'cause i didn't understand a word of what he said! lol!

  • +1 ahahahah

  • Indeed...

  • ahah for dummies

  • @Darkness2121:

    KERS isn't banned for 2010.

What the hell are you talking about.

It's just the FOTA teams that have agreed not to use it. But we all know most of them will anyway.

  • K.E.R.S is usefull for your information, it transforms the wasted kinetic energy into usable energy to give a 6 seconds boost (if im not wrong) thus making it easy to overtake other cars

  • KERS is a waste of money!!! glad they ban in 2010

  • they use energy what would otherwise be wasted to give an extra 80 hp thats a vauxhall astra

  • yes and F60, to celebrate it's 60yrs in F1, why is that in italiano?

  • Because in italy we are among the best carmakers in the world.

  • .....your point is?

  • fastest maybe, best?....mmmmm, not sure, italian cars seem to breakdown a lot and cheap ones rust fast, alfa romeo especially, oh, and lancias, where do they get the metal from?

  • WTF ferrari's car for this year isn't called F2009 it is called the F60

  • ohhh puedo entender italiano O_O jajaja XD

  • It's great to see they are taking something which goes to waste anyway and making good use of it. I don't see why every company isn't using it, almost every car that has it today seems to be winning the races, so it is obviously working well. Maybe the oil companies have something to do with it?

  • well guess im still a dummie

  • The electrc motor provides an extra kick during acceleration since it generates max torque at start...Nitrous oxide would give a similar effect, and appeal to american boy racers. A 60 Kw electric motor and battery aint light. Stuff it - a supercharged engine would do away with this wank.

  • @xlr99 You never heard of 400 HZ motors then if your saying electric motors are heavy. To give you an example a 200 HP, 60 HZ AC motor weighs about 2000 pounds where as the 400 HZ version of this motor weighs in at only 80+ pounds. Remember this: Higher frequency reduces weight and volume of AC motors and transformers. Four hundred HZ is OLD technology btw since it has been used in the aviation industry for years for hydraulic systems.

  • angloparlant whiners.

    Saludos desde España, buen video

  • KERS KICKED IN, YO

  • Kers is shit. All say in the F1 It s shit ok except McLaren

  • The hybrid solution that uses together the thermal motor, a sophisticated electric system, that have a strategic positioning of component and accessories. The lithium battery is placed, in the down siding the thermal motor, and siding the gear box, is installed an electric machine directly connected the wheels axel transmitting torque.

  • This unit works in the braking process storing energy on battery, and case pilot want this process is reverted on acceleration giving 80Cv extra power. This is a regenerative condition that repeats cyclically during the race.

*a brief translation of the video, expect it helps.

  • A hybrid Ferrari. Who would have thought of that 15+ years ago?

  • 1 forward gear, but, 7 reverse gears my owd!

  • Damn you Italians do you think the English colonized 1/3 of the world for fun...NO they did it so we would be forced to learn English.

  • The English did ...WHAT ????

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA !!!!

  • he means Scottish. we get everywhere!

  • actually the guy said exacty what you saw.

  • good cad work but is there an english version.

  • Comment removed

  • @Carfer22 Italians know english so no problem for us...only for you...

  • yes yes... for dummies and italians! dont understand a word

  • Should have spent more time developing their rear diffuser rather than this silly thing

    Saludos.

  • Awesome explanation!! For us Brazilians.. We can understand, very well. Very similar language. Tks for this, love Ferrari. ive been in Maranello once. Tks.

    Love Brazil

  • thanks for having an english title on this vid. btw if anyone can speak italian please translate it and post it please! im sure it would be greatfuly recieved by all F1 fans on youtbe! :)

  • For dummies who speak italian.

  • I guess I'm a dummy...I can't understand KERS from this video.

  • it's a fuckin prius.

  • cant be it's usefull!

  • this is hybrid technology

  • OH PLEASE IT IS F60 NOT F2009!

  • hello family

  • "for dummies" lol pretty funny its in Italian xD

  • muy interesante; lo que no sé es como consiguieron hacer un conjunto motor-inversor-batería tan ligero

  • what he said is correct

  • come again!? ;D:D:D:D:D

  • i'll translate but im lazy :P, F1 will be so cool now, speccialy if you can store energy for like 20 laps, thats a lot of hp to waste in 6 sec, ELECTRIC NITRO XD

  • i understand this video :/

  • with this thing they will have more problems and accidents than now. Like in the BMW factory.

  • how so?
