The 3DS has two fucking screens(sure, I've had a DS for six years but that doesn't change the fact that it's really strange), Streetpass is much weirder than GPS/3G, and the 3D effect sucks.

If you think 2 screens is "weird" (it's really not, only one of them is generally used as the display - the other for input and menu systems) or street pass is in any way comparable to running a 3G network, I don't even believe you've seen a 3DS in person.

Honestly, Nintendo is rarely my first choice, but in this case? Nintendo pushed the ball forward on analog control, too.

The 3DS has motion controls, I don't see why the NGP's superior motion controls are considered weirder by your standards than two screens, one of which is 3D that gives me severe migraines that last several days, and alright motion controls that go against the 3D effect that requires that you stay in one position. Just try to play Face Raiders in 3D mode, go ahead and try.

@MagnificientSternin The 3DS' big innovation for handheld gaming on the onlineish front is Spotpass/Streetpass. The NGP's big online innovation is in bringing 3G internet connections to core gaming. I didn't ignore the NGP's superior motion control, I think I covered that pretty clearly. Nothing wrong with better motion controls, or much better AR technology. Go look up SmartAR.

I'm using great logic, and I'd like to add that I've been a Nintendo fanboy since the 90's. The 3DS ends that for me.

Anyways, Streetpass is a data transfer thingie. Not quite a service, but a definitive feature for the 3DS. You walk by someone else with a 3DS while you both have your wireless switches turned on, and you transfer data. By your description of Streetpass, what's the difference~?

The 3D effect sucks and so far there isn't a single game announced for the 3DS that I'd drop $40 for. It also sucks not to be able to buy retail games through the 3DS eShop.

My experiences with the 3DS are really negative so far(it's better than my 2004 DS, but $100 more expensive and I'm looking forward to none of the games on it), but when you compare the 3DS to KINECT I definitely prefer my 3DS. It's sad that these companies expect such silly 'innovations' to help them reach out to more customers when lowering the cost of the systems and making them simpler is so much better. The simplicity of the NGP is the main reason I'm excited for it.
