Remeber that we have to look at what connection these people and their current generation has to the religion itself, rather than their lineage. Lineage is not important, its the character the personality i.e their connection with the deen itself.
But still, If there is any one out there thinks , those people has right on palaces. If there is any one out there questions their rights in Turkey, I tell you what, all those palaces, jewelleries and gifts, and every think that belongs to palace belongs to Turkish nation not to Osmanli family. They have recieved those gifts in behalf of the Turksih nation. They have built those palaces in order to show the Power of the Turkish Nation not the power of the Ottoman family...
At the time of the Ottoman Empire, there was no such thing as the 'Turkish nation'. This is a modern creation. The Ottoman Empire was like all the traditional European monarchies (i.e. pre-1789) : it was based on religion (the Sultan/Caliph was the shadow of God on earth) and on personal allegiance to the sovereign (which explain why many Christians and Jews were faithful to the Sultan). Turkish nationalism was born in the late XIXth century and was just a copy of European nationalism.
I agree with u in toto though I'm not a Turkish. Ur concept of nation's possession is so true. That should be how Kings and Queens see their wealth instead of pocketing it themselves. After all, if not because of the loyal people , they would not be up there in the first place. Unfortunately they always forget
Hi Kasadivalyos, I totally agree with the sum of what you wrote but, I just want to correct a misunderstanding here. An Ottoman is NOT necessarily a Turk. Ottoman is an upper identity.
Well I am Turkish too, but I dont really believe in blue blood or any thing, I love the first Sultan's where an Ottoman citizen could be judged with them equally, coz of their passian, and the first Sultan's never saw the Ottoman as their properity. They were like an employee for Ottoman. I also admire Sultan Vahdettin, who planned every thing and did not let any dynasty members to take a penny out of Turkish nation!!! While the whole dynasties of Europe were stoling every thing.
...governours (Vali)...after the first world war rising up the Osmanli Sultan get a ordery to not come inside the headless struggle of the World War I. and get some non fighting contracts with all the fighting goverments. But the Group leader of the Young-Turks -specially the Enver Pasha and Talaat Pasha- try everything to get the Empire into the war and after they tooke two german destroyers under the Turkish Banner and firing the port of Krim the neutral Ottoman Empire get also into the war..
...for the Anti Royalist forces cause Abdulhamid II. splashes the parlament and forces the "Jön-Türk" or teh New Ottomans to come back under the rules of the Sharia and
Sultan. But they wont and try the last Kalif of the muslims to get weak. But Abdulhamid II. doesnt care on it and give orders to build factories and other projekts (Orient Express) to get works for the unemployement people which the Young-Turks try to sabotating by forcing and killing the province governours (Vali)...
First of all everybody have to know and pay attention on it that during the years 1835-1918 the sultans have no directly political power like Fatih the concurer for example...the enemies inside tried everything to bring chaos and unislamic stuff inside the islamic empire of the Ottomans.
They killed Sultan Abdul Aziz and other honorable people and Pashas and such poeple who works against the "Ittihati Terraki" during Abdulhamid II. 1865 till 1909 was a little break for the Anti-Royalist forces
As everybody know poor Vahdettin came in 1918 and that was almost at the end of WWI. He had never been active in government until then. These days our politics use a classic motto that "they take over a wreck". To me that motto is most suitable for poor Vahdettin. He wasn't a traitor. He was the one who furnished Ataturk with tremendous authorities and money to start the Kurtulus War in Anatolia. It is sad that he is still known as traitor. Ecevit-former prime minister even said that he wasn't.
You really should learn history. The Ottoman dynasty left Turkey not in 1923 but in 1924. And please explain what do you mean by "sell out the country?" Do us a favor and do not comment on things that you do not know well enough.
Wow! Fascinating!! Who knew there were any living Royals from the end of the Ottoman Empire? She is even more beautiful in her later years....presently! I would love to meet her and learn of her past history and that of her family and EVERYTHING! Ersin? Where do you find all of these incredible Royal people? You are amazing! If you had not made this available...Who would have ever remembered? FABULOUS(!), Ersin!! Thank You!>>>>>Mike
