I see a lot of negative comments here and I'll say this, they may not be professional drummers (yet) but they're pretty good for a couple of HS kids, it had to be fun to be there. Maybe not the greatest drum solo(s) I've ever heard but not bad and I had fun watching and listening to it.

@TheKickrecords they are fine drummers. this was very obviously a show, that they set up before hand. there is no dueling or battle here, just two friends showing off some tandem drumming. sometimes its hard to think up stuff on the spot, too. i know too many times ive just switched to a generic closed-snare-bass beat to try to think something original up for a few seconds...

Neither one of you was great. You guys need to learn how to groove, it was way too bland; take lessons from Carter Beauford or Steve Gadd. And do something besides single stroke roll all around the drumset. Both of you need to work on your technique, too. But whoever had Pearl won it for me in this one, because the other guy's beats were so generic and simple, and because his timing was god awful. I mean if a drummer has one job to absolutely fulfill, it's to be an accurate time keeper.

A) It was a drum duel. There was no band. It wasn't about grooving, it was about drumming

B) Technique is completely subjective. Carter Beauford plays left hand hi-hat with some French/hybrid grip and Steve Gadd plays traditional. Do they need to work on their technique because they're different?

C) If you think all we did were single stroke rolls around the drums then you know less about drumming than I thought you did based off of my response to B

D) Not about time keeping either (refer to A)

Look at it this way: how you perform during a drum battle is a direct reflection of your drumming style. If you have groove, you will groove no matter what. There was zero groove in this; therefore, I can conclude that you don't ever play with any sense of pocket or feel.

Hey genius, technique isn't about your grip. Technique is your level of skill. The better your technique, the more possibilities you'll have for movement.

The essence of drumming is time keeping. Keep accurate time.

Most everybody thought it grooved fine, because it did.
